Arrested Development (2 Viewers)

wow... I had no idea about the movie- not sure what it's supposed to cover, but I have full faith in that crew to make it work.

fyi- the series seems to have cycled up again on IFC... caught the first two episodes again last night.

I'm just getting thru this show.....great show all around, no idea how i missed it. The family ties episode is my favorite....when his sister shows up i lost it.

2 more episodes

looking forward to the movie now

I thought it had already been confirmed. I'll be very interested to see what the show pays the crew. For all the whining writers and actors have been doing about how they're not getting their money for internet based programming, the crew is who gets it in the shorts. Oftentimes the pay for straight-to-internet shows is more than 40% less than network TV show pay, for the exact same amount of work.

It's about damn time. Although I fear there is no way for it to live up to my hopes and expectations.
They may be able to make it edgier since they won't be restricted by FAA regs by "airing" it on a subscription service. They should be able to get away with more than even FX does.
Edgier <> better.
Should please that huge cohort of fans who protested the blurring in the "Say goodbye to these!" scenes. God knows I've often thought to myself, "Arrested Development is great, but if it could only be more like Entourage!"I did find the one unedited bit from the pilot in the DVD, "**** you, traitor!", to be funny.

I only meant that being edgier does not necessarily equate to better.

True, but it gives me more hope for it than I would if it was a mainstream Fox prime time show.

Why would the FAA step in? Are they landing a plane on the set?

Agreed. But I think beeping and blurring can really add to the humor. I think this scene is hysterical and it would be diminished if we actually heard what Buster said. I like it when they leave some things to the imagination, I hope they maintain that edge.

Holy crap! The Iron Sheik! How are you?

Could be a helicopter. Or a drone.Had a brainfart, FCC.

Also true. I just think less constraints work for more creativity, and vice versa.

Update: Still looks like it's happening

I'm gonna have to change my alias when it comes back. Don't want to corrupt the viewing experience for those that dislike my online persona. When I first started watching Justified it took me several episodes to wrap my brain around the fact that Boyd Crowder wasn't being played by a FBG.

So they are going to release a bunch of "shows" online and then do a 4th season later? I don't get it.
Seasons 1-3 aired back in the day on Fox, they're generally available on most streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu. Season 4 will be all new and will be released simultaneously on Netflix streaming, so if you were so inclined you could watch every new episode in one day. I don't think there's any plans to do anything beyond that but apparently the creator is open to it and obviously the Season 4 plot will leave open that possibility, one would assume.

So it won't be on regular TV? Not that I care I'd just torrent it anyways.

The level of awesome here is epic.

I thought a movie was following season 4?

Another "Arrested Development" actor is headed back to the fold.

Henry Winkler will reprise his role as incompetent Bluth family attorney Barry Zuckerkorn when the fourth season debuts on Netflix.

PLAY IT NOW: Ron Howard Returning To Acting For Arrested Development; Talks Media Scrutiny Of Young Actors Today

"I am supposed to be memorizing an 'Arrested Development' scene with Maybe for today," the actor Tweeted on Friday. "Don't tell anyone I was here OK?????"

Winkler later posted another Tweet hint - a photo of himself with Scott Baio (who played Bob Loblaw) with the caption, "Oh my goodness ... What a Development !!!!!!!"

Winkler isn't the only star returning for the fourth season - Judy Greer announced via Twitter on Thursday that she'll be back as Kitty Sanchez, while Ron Howard ("AD's" executive producer/narrator) revealed he too he will be acting in the upcoming season.

"I don't think I'm giving away too much to say I'm going to wind up on camera in the new 'Arrested Development' episodes," Ron told Kit Hoover and guest co-host Donny Deutsch on Access Hollywood Live in August. "I'm a little nervous. I have to shoot my first scene next week and I realized it's been really a hell of a long time since I memorized any dialogue."

"Arrested Development" Season 4 will be released on Netflix early next year.

Wait, hold up. Netflix? No network wants to touch this?
Not yet. Why would they, the ratings were awful and Fix did everything they could (besides marketing) to save it. Even marketed correctly there is only a small audience for this type of show.
No "yet" about it, it's a done deal. Netflix owns the rights and will be releasing the entire season all at once so you can tear through the episodes if you choose.

Yet 2.5 men is a hit show.......our society is doomed!
problem is, that AD is not a general tv audience prime time show b/c the jokes are not spoon-fed to them and there is no laugh track.

Just got an update from a friend of mine who's been working on the TV show. Not a lot, but enough to give me some tidbits a few here may enjoy.

Guest stars galore. A revolving list of A-D level talent popping in, some just to hang out.

Each episode will focus on a character.

There will be a movie (thought this was in doubt).

The crew rate is not as bad as I thought, about $6-7 an hour less than scale. Adds up after a 60+ hour week.

This is truly new ground for contracts with a hit show going straight to Internet. How this shakes out could be a big factor in future strikes by writers/actors since the producers will be making as much or more than they would on TV but are paying the lower price that a "new media" contract stipulates. This new media designation was a huge, if not the biggest sticking point in the last actor and writer strikes. Gonna be interesting.

The movie crew rate should be regular scale.

I'm trying very hard to get on it, but kind of don't want to learn any surprises.

Cera's comedic timing is superb.

Opie Cunningham is as nice as he seems.

No word yet if the Arnette/Poehler split will affect the storylines.

Hale (Buster) is a seriously funny human.

Several scenes with the entire extended family in the penthouse.

The cast is supposedly having a gigantic blast.

It will be very interesting to see how Netflix handles the demand of all episodes (10 are scheduled for now, thought it was 17) available at the same time.

Hope these little notes fill a little hole in your AD hearts.

Modern Family and New Girl down? I love A.D., and never cared for 2.5 men, but this generalization always bothered me.

Yeah I think AD would do significantly better on a network this time round than when they got cancelled, just like how Family Guy did.

There's an episode of Sesame Street on Comcast On Demand with Will Arnett that's fantastic. Arnett is a terrible magician that is obviously modeled on Gob. Love it.

Just got into this show. No idea why i was avoiding it for so long. Could be the funniest show I have ever seen and I am only 6 episodes in. Absolutely love everyone in the cast especially Buster who could have really been a big miss if they casted the wrong guy.

:blackdot: Watched the first 3 seasons on Netflix a couple years ago. I guess I'll be re-subscribing.(yes, I'm one of those to blame for not watching TV during that era - I was still protesting "Profit" being cancelled)
