Just got an update from a friend of mine who's been working on the TV show. Not a lot, but enough to give me some tidbits a few here may enjoy. Guest stars galore. A revolving list of A-D level talent popping in, some just to hang out. Each episode will focus on a character. There will be a movie (thought this was in doubt). The crew rate is not as bad as I thought, about $6-7 an hour less than scale. Adds up after a 60+ hour week. This is truly new ground for contracts with a hit show going straight to Internet. How this shakes out could be a big factor in future strikes by writers/actors since the producers will be making as much or more than they would on TV but are paying the lower price that a "new media" contract stipulates. This new media designation was a huge, if not the biggest sticking point in the last actor and writer strikes. Gonna be interesting. The movie crew rate should be regular scale. I'm trying very hard to get on it, but kind of don't want to learn any surprises. Cera's comedic timing is superb. Opie Cunningham is as nice as he seems. No word yet if the Arnette/Poehler split will affect the storylines. Hale (Buster) is a seriously funny human. Several scenes with the entire extended family in the penthouse. The cast is supposedly having a gigantic blast. It will be very interesting to see how Netflix handles the demand of all episodes (10 are scheduled for now, thought it was 17) available at the same time. Hope these little notes fill a little hole in your AD hearts.
