Arrested Development (2 Viewers)

Another :thumbup: ... it was so brilliant that I almost feel like it's better if they don't get picked up by another network.

I wonder how many jokes I missed that I'll pick up in repeat viewings ....

I have to admit that I missed fake/real Saddam saying "No Scar! Dot Com!" (echoing IMOSCAR.COM from the beginning of the season). I loved how GOB really lived on the C-Word (and how it wasn't actually named The Seaward). And I loved the dreamy look between Tobias and Lindsay when it turns out they're both ogling the Hot Seamen.

I have to re-play the "put a fig in my mouth and think of you" part with Buster and the nurse. Brilliant.
 
It ended kind of too soon. They left some stories opened to leave the option open but the worst story ending was the Gob and Ann one. That was not cool. However, I think George Michael and Maibe should have had a better closing... like she was on the boat or something as well.
 
When Gob's song (black/white) was playing at the nurses station when they were pouring massive amounts of tetracycline into the dosage cups was sow low key you might have missed it. Absolutely fantastic.

God I'm going to miss this show. I probably won't watch any tv (outside of sports) until Deadwood and/or the Sopranos comes back on. I've dropped the ball on Lost (I have about 7 downloaded episodes to catch up on).

I loved Arrested and am very sad to see it go (maybe THE BESTcomedy TV show ever, or at leasst as good as Seinfeld) but there

are a few other really great comedies out there that we have near

the top of our TiVo season past list:

- Scrubs

- My Name is Earl

- The Office

- Curb Your Enthusiasm

- Entourage

They're all comedies that are definitely worth watching, IMHO.

 
Those are the only 5 comedies on right now worth watching, that is my exact PVR list, throw in the shield, prison break and lost, that is some good tv!

Does he not know how tv works on the premium channels? Sopranos puts out, waht, 12 shows then goes off the air for 2 years, before coming back with another 12 episodes.

Sounds like Hurwitz was being a prima-donna or something. His show could have been the next "Sopranos" if he had played his cards right.

In the final episode of cancelled but much loved FOX sitcom "Arrested Development", Maeby (Alia Shawkat) tried to sell the rights to the Bluth family story to Ron Howard. Now, truth has proven stranger than fiction as Shawkat was interviewed last week for TV Guide and was asked about a potential "Arrested Development" movie being in the works in the future. She replied "Mitch [Hurwitz, creator] actually recently told us that there is a good possibility for a movie, and that he's talking to Ron Howard about it".

 
Jeffrey Tambor, George Sr. is on a new sitcom coming this fall on NBC. Could be good but wont be anywhere near as good as Arrested Development.

Just checked Tivo and it doesn't list A.D. for HDNet yet, but it does begin tonight on G4 TV. (354 on Directv)Pilot is tonight at 11:30. :thumbup:
 
GOB is starring in a new movie called "Let's Go To Prison" -- a comedy about breaking into prison. Sounds like a plot stolen from AD if you ask me.

He looks to play a similar role too. I'm really looking forward to this movie. Oh yeah, still :cry: that AD stopped making new episodes.

& right there is a microcosm of why the show failed... some of their best material went over people's heads... its rapier wit was too sharpjust started watching this about a month ago when G4 started running it & about to close out last season via netflix... can't believe i missed it first time aroundinspired casting (including narrator... i'm normally good with voices & didn't realize it was ron howard until i read somewhere)say bob loblaw law blog three times fastit would be tough to pick a favorite character but it would probably be GOB & tobias for meway too many funny moments to recounttobias hair implants rejecting HIM was hilariousthe music that plays when GOB does his magic routines never fails to crack me upjeff garlin tells maeby she looks like she is 15 & she bluffs... marry mewhen he asks her out... are you bringing your wife... yeah, i'll see you tomorrowi liked seinfeld a lot, & for non-comedies i enjoy 24, got back into lost again, just discovered BSG... but i think AD peaked, and is without a doubt my favorite show ever... the casting, intricate plotting & humor in combination are incredibly potenti heard that the creative lead was the main reason it terminated (after talk it might get picked up by ABC or showtime... which they characteristically self-referenced in a show :) )... it was becoming increasingly difficult to maintain the high bar that had been set...* & that was not the first time oscar was knocked out by a heavy "lid"hilarious when oscar was disappointed to hear the turtle ate his chronic... than he suggested to buster they cremate it... :)

bought the dvds on sale at target for 17.99 each. What a steal. Why did this show get cancelled again? Didn't it get really bad ratings?

Never watched the show while it was on the air. Found it on one of the sites that host tv shows and have watched the first two seasons so far. Brilliant show and absolutely love it....
 
I believe the cast made it very expensive to produce. Great show, and it had a pretty good run regardless of getting cancelled.

 
To this day, it's still my very favortie program that has ever been on television. We have all three seasons on DVD, and watch them all the time.

The ratings on the show were always very good; the critics loved it. It just never found a large enough audience, because it didn't write down to the below average intelligence quotiant of the average 30-minute sitcom watcher (yes, King of Queens watchers, I'm looking at you).

I thought the ratings were crap? Critical success but didn't pick up in the mainstream.

They were. This was on everyones list as one of the best shows people weren't watching. Great show.
 
I think the reason people didn't watch it the first time was because the marketing was so bad. I remember seeing promos for the show, and they didn't really seem to market Arrested Development as well as they should have. Some of the previews of the show almost made the show look like a drama.

didn't they move it all over the place as well? That kills a show's popularity - thank God Scrubs has survived the same issues.Development was awesome!
