The only way to fix the problem is to walk away. Stop watching the game, stop buying tickets. How can a major market team put out such a poor product week after week, year after year. It is beyond embarrassing. The Bears are the Cubs, as long as they are supported, they will never change. I am officially supporting Detroit, GB and Minnesota from here on out.

They are in 1st place in the nfc north. Lots of teams are in a worse shape.

Wake up. the conference gave them a head start and they are squandering it. even when they are lucky enough to win they look simply horrible and incompetent.

At least they give the impression of improving, I think 1 or 2 more seasons and they will arrive

Good for them the rest of the teams in the north also look horrible and incompetent.

Exactly. I understand being upset with how your team plays, but this level of whining about a team that was in the Super Bowl in the past decade is pretty asinine.

Are you kidding me? Obviously you didnt see any Bears games this year. I. dont think the team management could be worse if the grabbed someone off the street. If the best teams were in the Superbowl it would be all AFC every year. Loose MCKASKEY, FIRE LOVIE PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEI hope no one is dillusional enough to think they will remain in first place very long. give me a break

Precisely what I was going to say -- when you have gone to a SB in the last five seasons and type that sort of stuff, it reeks entitlement. The Bears are nowhere near the Cubs in ineptitude.

So lets live in the past. The goal is to go to the Superbowl, we are not headed anywhere near that direction. Are you going to defend Lovie's decision making? Even with the 4 ints...to the same freakin guy...the bears should have won the game. poor management...Followed up by incoherent post game comments.....I am done.....Go Lions

The Bears are frustrating to watch because you can see they are really close to actually being a good team. Don't be fooled, this Bears defense is good. Very good. They overcame SIX turnovers by the offense today and still only allowed 17 points, while scoring a TD of their own. It's not their fault the offense can't score 11 points. Say what you want about Cutler, but the guy is a solid QB. We have some young talented WRs and a reliable corps of RBs. Yes, the offensive line is in shambles, which is mostly a result of neglecting the position in the draft for many, many years, but other than that the Bears are a very solid team, at least talent-wise.

Where you see a lot of the frustration come from is based on how poorly the organization as a whole is run. Ownership only cares about making money, the GM is supposedly known for his drafting prowess, yet has had arguably the worst drafts of any GM in football in the last 5 years and coaching is in a word, incompetent. We give up a lot to bring in a franchise QB, give him no o-line and put him in a system that is known for getting its QBs killed. The challenge today of the Bennett catch down at the one was stupid. The non-challenge of the Cutler sneak/goal-line fumble was one of the worst coaching moves of all time.

No they aren't the Cubs, they aren't the Lions, they're just a great team, with a rich tradition and history, in a city that lives and dies for football being run (into the ground) by a bunch of buffoons. It's a shame really.

You aren't remembering the Wannstedt and Jauron eras.

The Bears D is solid. Obviously, they need to be more productive on Offense. The two main issues the Bears face this year are the putrid O-Line talent they currently have and the entire offense learning a new playbook this offseason. Realistically, I don't expect the Offense to start firing on all cylinders until next season, assuming Martz/Lovie et al are still with the organization in 2011.

It's clear the Martz system doesn't fit Cutlers type of play. Since Cutler is only signed thru 2012, I wouldn't be suprised if he refuses to re-sign with the Bears and instead joins up with Shanahan in DC. When does Donovan's contract expire? Hmmm.

I am not even talking about Martz. I heard an interview this week with Ricky Proehl, talking about Martz. He is not the problem, maybe a part of the problem. Lovie needs to move along. I do remember Jauron and Wanny, this is merely a continuation. Jauron was 13-3 one year, so what. My first year in Chicago was 1985, It has been down hill every since, maybe that is my problem. I really am not impressed with Lovies Superbowl loss, I never thought they deserved to be there, aside from the Defense totally dominating. Lets not talk about Grossman.

If anyone heard they Proehl interview, I cant recall if Score or ESPN, but lots of good insight into Martz and the Rams Superbowl run. He basically said Martz is an offensive genius but his ego interferes with good decision making. Proehl explained why they lost to the Pats, his opinion. It made perfect sense, and we see it with the Bears.

I can't stop watching and pulling for the Bears, but it's obvious this season is wasted. I can only hope the pain I have from following the Bears this season is simply karma offsetting all the ####### things I did in my younger years. Retribution sucks.

It was foolish for them to hire Martz when they have so much invested in Olsen. Martz has shown before that he doesn't adjust his system to the teams personnel.

Didn't people expect this team to be absolutely awful in the preseason? It's been ugly, but they're exceeded expectations thus far. How quickly people forget things...as a Niners fan, I'd like to give a giant efff you to any Bears fans who think their team sucks.

 The Bears lost 2 games by 3 points and could easily have won both the last 2 games. Stop over-reacting. Still in 1st place and will probably be in first after they win against the Bills too. Packers play at Jets next week and Minny at NE. The Bears have a top 5 D and ST. If the O stops shooting itself in the foot, they will be a very good team. Today against the Skins, at least 3 turn overs (Cutler sneak fumble at goal line; Pick 6 at the 10 yard line and the Forte fumble) were legit field goals. Instead of getting 9 points at least, the Bears gave up 7.... they should have blown out the SKins today. Also it did not help that the refs freaking blew the TD call with the Cutler sneak (the ball clearly crossed the goal line) or we had bad luck with the 2nd Moore pick six that the Skins had delay of game on. Or the fact that the Bears caused 5 fumbles but could only recover one. Sometimes the ball does not bounce your way. That does not require this over-reaction. Still in first place and neither the packers nor vikings look great either. The Bears can easily beat either of those teams.

Winning 1 game satisfies you? All I heard from every expert and any fan of any other team before the season was how the Bears were going to be worse than Detroit this year. And yet, the Bears are in first place and the Vikings have one more win compared to Detroit.

chicago was doomed this season when they failed to upgrade the o-line, then brought in an OC that likes to run long developing plays. it didnt take a genious to see this train wreck coming.

 :goodposting: This clueless OP does not even know how many teams have not made the SB this decade. Packers? No. Vikings? No. Cowboys? No. Jets? No. Fins? No. San Fran? No. Falcons? No. Houston (everyone's darling every preseason)? No. Jax? No. Titans? No. SKins? No....and it goes on.

Is this the same management that got Peppers this offseason? Have you watched him play this season? How come I do not see you talking about the positive moves? Who drafted DJ Moore who looks really good on nickel. The Bears have a top 5 D and a top 5 ST in the entire NFL. That is pretty good. The O needs to improve, no doubt there. Hopefully they will adjust to this new scheme and things will get better in the 2nd half.

I can't stop watching and pulling for the Bears, but it's obvious this season is wasted.
 Another classic over-reaction. What do you mean by "wasted"? Before the season began, except for some Bear fans, no one else expected the Bears to even be 2nd in the division, forget 1st. And yet, here they sit atop their division and 2nd in the entire NFL in terms of W-L (the only stat that counts). And, despite their O struggles, and the fact that the O keeps shooting itself in the foot (see the fumbles in the Det game or the stupid turnovers today), this team has had 3 losses in each one of which they could have won the game. They have lost 3 close games. Their D is top 5 and their ST is top 5 in the NFL. So what exactly is "wasted"? I love how stupid fans over-react after every loss (or win) in the NFL. I also love how every one thinks the NFL is a progression. For eg: Just because the Vikes came within one game of the SB, and now that they have Randy Moss, they should be a lock for the SB. Hell no.... that is not how the NFL works. Nothing is guaranteed from year to year. There is no rebuilding. There is no gauarantee to be a Superbowl contender. Parity rules and it will be that way always. Deal with it. As long as a team stays relatively healthy, they have a chance in today's NFL.

 How quickly some of these Mr-know-it-alls forget? I guarantee they thought the Bears would be 4-12 before this season began. Gotta love the level of stupidity that exists with NFL fans these days. Sad reflection of our society today. But nothing surprises me. This nation did vote for George Bush twice and now think that Obama should have fixed the entire economic mess Bush got us into in 2 years....

man i am like a goat cutler apologist and i cant even come up with anything after this performance. he looked like palmer out there.

Funny thing is I thought I'd stop being a Lions fan a long time ago but I keep coming back to them. If you honestly think the Lions have been run better than the Bears over the past decade plus, you haven't been paying attention.

OK, So relative to all the crapping NFL teams through history thr Bears are not the absolute worse. I will sleep better tonight. I cannot believe all of the apologist here.

I would love see here a sound bite collection of Lovie over the past several seasons followed up with his actions. You know, such as, "we have to get back to Bears football",..."we are a run first team"..."we get off the bus running"....followed by getting rid of Thomas Jones, getting rid of Benson, the exact types of backs a team who wants to be run first needs. Oh yeah, hire Martz as OC.. The greateast show on turf...he is most definitely run first. Lovie doesn't know his butt from a hole in the ground. What he says and what he does are so far removed it's pathetic. I should celebrate the fact that we don't still have Schoop I guess.

Is Lovie making these decisions?

Does Lovie make the call on when to throw the red flag? Does Lovie make the call on trying to run for a TD 4 times in a row on 1st and goal from the 1 ft line, 2 different games and fail both times, as opposed to kicking a FG. Does Lovie decide how to use timeouts? Does Lovie pick his coaches?

It's not their fault the offense can't score 11 points. Say what you want about Cutler, but the guy is a solid QB.
You are contradicting yourself. The offense couldn't score points because Cutler kept turning the ball over. He's a horribly overrated QB. I don't think he's a horrible QB, but he's not solid either. He has a ton of physical tools, but no head for the game, and that's a big problem.
