TE targets for the Jets YTD and 2015 are basically nonexistent. Is that scheme, Fitzpatrick, lack of pass-catching tight-ends, etc? All of the above?Jets claimed him off waivers. I guess he's still a hold in dynasty.......just barely.
Extremly surprised the Titans didn't claim himJets claimed him off waivers. I guess he's still a hold in dynasty.......just barely.
System I think. Amaro had a catch yday with the Titans (there was another time he seemed surprised to have been targeted at all even though he was open ten yards from the LOS).TE targets for the Jets YTD and 2015 are basically nonexistent. Ok! Since YOU liked what YOU saw, it must be true! What were the rest of us thinking! (MIlkman, sometimes it better to just admit your assessment on a guy was wrong. Just saying.)I liked what I saw on tape. Small sample but I was definitely thinking he could be a big FF producer if he stayed on the field.
Yeah I would but he flashed. I definitely liked what I saw. If I didn't i absolutely would say I missed. He's a knucklehead which I don't really put much value on either way. I probably should though. Def "did not" miss though.......he's caught on with another team so let's see if he wakes up.Ok! Since YOU liked what YOU saw, it must be true! Nope. He deserves credit for playing the hand the GM gives him.I have heard the narrative that Chan Gailey doesn't use the TE much as a receiver in his offensive scheme. Never really looked into if that were the case or not.
NJ Advance Media's Connor Hughes pegged Austin Seferian-Jenkins as the "most impressive player on the field" at Jets OTAs.
To be frank, ASJ doesn't have much competition in the form of offensive talent among his teammates, but this is still great to hear. "He caught everything in sight," Hughes added. Seferian-Jenkins has hit the reset button on his life this offseason, quitting drinking and dropping 25 pounds in the process. One of the more established players on a Jets offense filled with inexperience, ASJ has a chance at real contributions in 2017 after he serves a two-game ban.

ESPN's Rich Cimini reports the Jets "like what they've seen" out of Austin Seferian-Jenkins this offseason.
The tight end also received praise from NJ Advance Media's Connor Hughes, who said ASJ was the "most impressive player on the field" at OTAs. Cimini notes the Jets plan to lean on tight ends more under new OC John Morton, especially following the release of Eric Decker, and Seferian-Jenkins is the best bet to earn those targets once he returns from his two-game suspension. Undrafted in most leagues, Seferian-Jenkins is not a terrible late-round dart throw in best ball formats.

Bowles has NOTHING to do with the offense. Here is the combined total for all NYJ tight ends in 2015 and 2016. Just to clarify, this is the total production for all their TE's over TWO SEASONS:
26 receptions, 268 receiving yards, 1 TD = 32.8 fantasy points = 1 fantasy point per game
ASJ may look good in OTA's and mini camp, but since Bowles took over the TE position has been a barren waste land. With Morton taking over as OC, maybe they will remember they have TE's on the team. ASJ certainly could be a deep sleeper, but I'm not sure he's worth taking up a roster spot to start the season. Maybe he'll be a decent waiver wire pick up.
I get that Bowles himself had nothing to do with the offense, but he did bring in Gailey, so Gailey would not have been there without Bowles. And while they may not have had great TE options, if they never were utilized how can we be sure they weren't very good?Bowles has NOTHING to do with the offense.
I'm not saying ASJ (or any of their TEs) will be good this year, but what happened the last two seasons is completely irrelevant since they have a new OC this season and Chan Gailey did not use TEs (nor did they have a good one).
Well it's a "chicken-egg" scenario I guess but I think it's pretty safe to assume that Brandon Bostwick, Jeff Cumberland, Kellen Davis and Zach Sudfeld weren't very good.I get that Bowles himself had nothing to do with the offense, but he did bring in Gailey, so Gailey would not have been there without Bowles. Morton hasn't been an OC in the pros before, so there really isn't a track record to look at to see what he might have in store. ASJ can't do any worse than the guys that had recently, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he will be fantasy relevant. At this time of year, lots of players look good in shorts and t-shirts with no contact allowed.
You clearly haven't been burned by any of the other times that he was "making progress", "Looks great", or was "Anxious to put this behind him". Been there, done that.maf005 said:Must add in dynasty. ASJ was a Great prospect whose production was severely limited due to maturity concerns. If he's making progress to move past that (all indications over the past few months indicate he is), then he could be in line for a significant opportunity given the Jets just lost their two best receivers.
This! You clearly haven't been burned by any of the other times that he was "making progress", "Looks great", or was "Anxious to put this behind him". Been there, done that.
ASJ could have 1-2 good weeks, but he's a waste of space on a fantasy roster. If you can trick an opponent to pick him up, that's a win, because they'll be dropping someone who is probably better than ASJ.
In fairness this is the only time he's actually coming out of rehab. I think he's worth a flier if you have roster space (he's on waivers in every league I'm in).You clearly haven't been burned by any of the other times that he was "making progress", "Looks great", or was "Anxious to put this behind him". In fairness, lots of people who leave rehab relapse. Josh Gordon being a recent example. Hope he can stay clean, but I don't think he'll be a top 12 TE.In fairness this is the only time he's actually coming out of rehab. You can get a great talent off waivers. Not that difficult. In fairness, lots of people who leave rehab relapse. Josh Gordon being a recent example. Hope he can stay clean, but I don't think he'll be a top 12 TE.
I really wish he wasn't suspendedNJ Advance Media's Connor Hughes reports Austin Seferian-Jenkins "has dominated" at Jets camp.
Seferian-Jenkins was widely considered the best offensive player on the team in spring practices, and that has carried over into training camp with the pads on. He's been winning all of his one-on-ones and looks like a "legitimate offensive weapon" for a Jets squad that needs them. Though suspended for the first two games, ASJ has a real chance to lead this offense in targets the final 14 weeks. Aug 9 - 9:24 AM
only two games - which will likely help you get him much cheaper.I really wish he wasn't suspended
I've always been a fan of his talent. Maybe he grew up. He has fallen into a great situation where he could get a huge target share.......NJ Advance Media's Connor Hughes reports Austin Seferian-Jenkins "has dominated" at Jets camp.

Can't draft him either way I guess - not in normal leagues at leastonly two games - which will likely help you get him much cheaper.
I'm not tracking with this. Perhaps I need another cup of coffee. Your site settings do not allow you to draft a suspended player? Can't draft him either way I guess - not in normal leagues at least
I think he's saying he doesn't like drafting two TE and so you can't take a blank the first two weeks. In leagues with bigger rosters or required multiple TE he's a fine stash.I'm not tracking with this. Perhaps I need another cup of coffee. I agree he has an opportunity for targets but I think "great" is pretty aggressive for describing his situation.I've always been a fan of his talent. Maybe he grew up. He has fallen into a great situation where he could get a huge target share.......
