Baby names (1 Viewer)

Stick with a name both you & your s/o agree on.

Our son was born last week & we named him Collin James. I wanted to go with the traditional spelling of "Colin", but she argued that people would be more prone to pronounce it as "Colon" if we spelled it this way. While I agreed with this, we've already had to correct about a dozen folks on his name spelling ("two l's, dammit!").

I like the double l spelling now. Different without being too cutesy.

We got a new one we like.Ollie
An old friend of mine had twins and named them Ollie and Finn. We named our kids with seven letters in their names. Our next kid, boys names we are considering (due in Oct). GabrielAbrahamI wanted Aurelio, but wife doesn't approve.girls names:IsabelaClaudia

We liked traditional names. We liked the idea of potentially mixing a family name in depending upon how it sounded. I didn't dislike any of the first names she really preferred, so I told her I'd narrow it down to the two I liked best and let her make the final call. She did the same with the middle name and I made the final call on the middle name: Jack Ryan.

Kids are creative. I wouldn't worry about most names because every kid will get it from every other kid.

ETA: Besides, in my opinion, it's good for you to have fun poked at you like that. We need to suck it up and learn from the experience, grow some thicker skin. And, mind you, this isn't coming from some older generation guy - I'm a freshman.

Ivy sounds really neat.
Mares eat oats and does eat oats, but little lambs eat ivy. A kid'll eat ivy too. Wouldn't you?Poison ivy. She's a clinger.Should I go on?
I have no idea what the first thing is.And if the best you can come up with is poison ivy and she's a clinger, I think my kid would survive.

We'll find out if we are having girl #2 or boy #1 on Monday. We have plenty of boy names but very few girl names.

Girl Names:

Carly Jenean (wife's choice)Middle name is a family name.

Lisa Jo (Wife's 2nd choice)First name is a family name.

Cambria Faye (My choice)Middle name is a family name.

Boy Names:

Bruce Abraham (My 1st choice) Initials would be B.A.M. and that is what I would probably call him early on.

Jeremiah Jaxson (Wife's choice) This is a combination of my wife's name and mine.

Jaxson Day (Wife's 2nd choice)

I like the idea of traditional, commonly spelled names, but obviously we didn't adhere to that.

I'm 15 years removed from helping decide the name of my offspring.

Boys: Keep is Simple - preferably something that boils down to one syllable. Matthew (Matt), Samuel (Sam), Benjamin (Ben) or if wanna go a little off the beaten path, perhaps Max or Noah (syllable and a half).

Girls: same rule of thumb applies, but maybe cute it up a little and go with two syllables (Sydney, for example). Still don't stray far and get too cute, and remember that there are many timeless girls names.

Bottom line, don't begin your child's life with a bad tattoo.

Isla sounds like a stripper.Oddly enough though, Ivy sounds really neat.
I have never met a stripper named Isla. I have met several Ivy's however. Isla sounds like she might be a really hot Guatemalan housekeeper. But I like both names.

Big fan of name Nathaniel.

For twenty years I tried to get to the root of misheard "Evergreen." Bless the internet or I would have died unfulfilled. Gotta say the Hot Chocolate version stomps Urge Overkill.

Looks like the list of chaps and strumpets that have had dealings with Old Hoss Radbourn.

My unborn seed will not be besmirched as a slattern nor shyster. :hot:

My neighbors oldest son is named Peyton. A month after we moved in, he got a dog and named it Eli. Then a year later his wife had a son that they named Cooper. These are of course the names of the manning brothers. My neighbor swears he didn't know that but I razz him all the time.

My daughter is named Presley. We named her that because it was original but not goofy and we liked it. No Elvis connection at all. I like Elvis, but not enough to name my kid after him.

Now, I have repeatedly stated that if our next kid is a boy I want to name him Cash. And since my first name is John and that is about five generations deep, his name would be John cash d. So I would have kids named presley and John cash that honestly Have nothing to do with Elvis or the man in black. And of course no one would believe me...

Not sure if you read one of my many earlier posts, but good friends of ours named their kid Cash. Awesome name.
Didn't see that, but yes it is. My nieces rodeo with a girl named Gage (pronounced like gauge) which is a cool name for a pretty girl that isn't afraid to kick your ###.
