Great, a few teams have question marks, we agree.But these teams are going to be as good as their starting pitching takes them and for that reason, its a little early to say that the Yankees are that much better than the Red Sox or Toronto for that matter.

The Los Angeles Dodgers, in search of starting pitching, acquired right-hander Jae Seo and left-handed reliever Tim Hamulack from the New York Mets on Wednesday for right-handed relievers Duaner Sanchez and Steve Schmoll.
Seo, a 28-year-old South Korean, made 14 starts for the Mets last season, going 8-2 with a 2.59 ERA. He walked 16 and struck out 59 in 90 1-3 innings. He also spent time with Triple-A Norfolk.
Seo went 5-10 with a 4.90 ERA for the Mets in 2004.
"The thought process behind this was Seo's going to get a chance to start," Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti said. "He had a real good year with the Mets and in Triple-A, pitched close to 200 innings.
"This gives us a little more depth in the starting rotation. I don't think this will prohibit us from getting another starter in either free agency or in a trade. One more would be good. I think we have a rotation now that's capable of throwing 180 innings, 200, 210 through all five starters."
Los Angeles signed free-agent right-hander Brett Tomko last month. Other returning starters are right-handers Brad Penny and Derek Lowe and left-hander Odalis Perez. Jeff Weaver, a 14-game winner last season, is a free agent.
The 29-year-old Hamulack pitched mostly in the minors last season. He appeared in six games for the Mets, allowing seven hits and six earned runs in 2 1-3 innings.
The 26-year-old Sanchez was 4-7 with a 3.73 ERA and eight saves in 79 games last season, serving as the Dodgers' closer late in the year. He was a setup man in 2004, going 3-1 with a 3.38 ERA in 67 games.
Sanchez made his big league debut in 2002 with the Arizona Diamondbacks. He also pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2002-03 before the Dodgers claimed him on waivers after the 2003 season.
The 25-year-old Schmoll, signed by Los Angeles in May 2003, was 2-2 with a 5.01 ERA and three saves for the Dodgers and 0-3 with a 4.78 ERA in 22 games for Triple-A Las Vegas last season.

According to WFAN, Bret Boone has signed a minor league deal with the New York Mets.
Kaz Matsui has been difficult to move this offseason, but Boone should be given every chance to compete with him this spring for the starting job. Still, the winner out of spring training is just holding the job until one of the Mets' middle infield prospects - Jeff Keppinger or Anderson Hernandez - are ready. Jan. 4 - 3:08 pm et

More questions than answers. The last time I saw Farnsworth he blew an Atlanta lead, that cost them the playoffs. Dotel coming off a major injury.Sorry but Im not sold on either of those guys. Glad that you are though Bueller.

Over Mota and Timlin? Hmmmm....interesting. I'd say its a push. Of course, The Sox have nothing close to Mariano. How old is he anyway? It feels like he's been the Yankees closer for about 50 years.

Dotel and Mota are definately a push. Impossible to say right now who will be more reliable out of those two.Farnsworth had his best year pitching in meaningless games in Detroit. We will see if he is ready for the next level. I was never particularly impressed with him in Chicago, other than that he could throw really hard.
Sox have a wildcard in Craig Hansen. He was great in college and relievers generally get adjusted to the Majors faster than starters, he could be decent for them this year.

If Papelbon is in the bullpen, that definately makes it stronger.I think Papelbon is going to be starting though. Good chance Wells and either Clement or Arroyo are traded. If they trade two, Papelbon will be starting for sure.

I agree with...[icon]?]Thier only weak link was the pen. The injuries to the starters can't be expected to recur... and their only weak link was CF and POSSIBLY 2B though Cano showed flashes of brilliance for a rookie last year.
Where else do you propose they improve. Sure, they'd love to have a starting rotation like Chicago, but with a lineup like thiers, their current rotation is more than serviceable.

This is such dishonest analysis, I needed to say something. Sure, Lowell won a gold glove with the Marlins last year, but his OPS was a pitiful .658 compared to Mueller's .799. Even Brooks Robinson's skills at 3rd couldn't make up for that deficiency at the plate. Worse, Lowell's OPS was .859 in July, meaning that the res of the year he REALLY sucked. Sure, Lowell improved over the 2nd half last year (to the tune of a .693 OPS), but for a guy that's turning 32 and only had one month last year where he even broke a BA of .250 I wouldn't be talking him up so much.
Lowell is the wild card that the Sox had to draw to acquire Beckett. If he returns to his pre-2005 form, that's a boon to the Sox, but that's a big IF.
Also, I am inclined to be overly suspicious of guys that had bad 2005s, because of my steroids suspicions. Lowell's best hope is that the monster will do wonders for his stats.

Snow has a higher OPS over the past 3 yrs (.823 to .760) and isn't as nifty with the glove. For $2MM it sounds like a good signing, although how the Red Sox use him is a bit more complex.

...but he dropped off from his phenomenal season in Colorado, so comparatively the numbers he will put up in Houston will be mind boggling.As a Cardinal fan, I was desperately hoping we would land Wilson as a last second move by Jocketty. Instead he winds up on our primary competitor.

2002: FL (pitcher's park) .758 OPS2003: CO (hitter's extravanganza) .880 OPS
2004: CO (played about a third of the season from injuries) .706 OPS
2005: total: .792 OPS
CO (71 games) .813 OPS
WA (68 games) .772 OPS
At 31 years old, I just don't see him having the kind of year that dwarfs last year's decent stats. Obviously he benefitted from Colorado, and will likely benefit from the short porch in left in Houston, but he'd need to put up numbers comparable to 3 years earlier when he was in his peak power years and hadn't undergone a major injury yet.

Why use splits when his regular stats indicate the same thing? Splits just make it seem that he's much better, which he's not (although the difference is significant)
