Beanie Wells going forward (1 Viewer)

Are there any Arizona homers out there who have an idea what is going on with Chris Wells?

I drafted him in one of my leagues thinking that he could be a breakout player in 2010, but now with his injury combined with Tim Hightower's play I am starting to think that 2010 won't be Wells year.

Is there any chance that he comes back and is a solid #2 rb this year?

The guy is always hurt. I wouldn't go near him at this point. The official Cardinals website today said that "he wasn't even close to playing today" who knows when he will be back?He may return at some point in the next few weeks, but he will not be consistent enough to be counted on. In my mind I would be trying to deal Wells at this point if I could.

I would go one further and hold him in dynasty / keeper as I am not sure how he could be worth any less than he is at this point. Hopefully he has a good showing before your trade deadline and you can send him away. I plan on it. Assuming he comes "back" in some fashion.

Hightower looked great again today but I want to stress that Hightower is a monster inside the domes. He has had 3 pretty strong games in St Louis and then again today in Atlanta although AZ got blown out. He really needs to be traded to a team that plays inside or on artificicial turf.

True about Hightower in domes, but there is no denying that he really is a complete back -- he has great speed and burst, terrific hands and gets decent YAC, is a terrific blocker and adept picking up blitz packages. Wells might be a better talent, but Hightower truly does it all well. There is no reason that the Cards should NOT have him out there in at least a 50/50 RBBC. Every week, he makes that case further.I hope Wells does get back on the field, as the team could use him. But at this point, it's hard to justify why Wells would warrant the full load.

I think they play on grass in AZ, even with the retractable roof.
Does anyone think that Hightower will be "the man" even when Wells comes back?

I am concerned about Wells knee. Supposedly he wasnt even close to playing yesterday and its been what 4 weeks since the injury and his knee is still swelling. I own Wells and a little concerned is an overstatment.

I don't think anyone knows. I wouldn't be surpised if it's 60/40 Hightower to Wells, or in reverse. I do feel Wells is a more talented runner, but you need to be on the field. As long as Hightower quits fumbling the ball, I can't see Hightower not having a significant piece of the pie. When you still have swelling in the knee, you have to be concerned. I wouldn't be suprised if Wells misses next week as well.
