I don't mean to be a pest, but the voting is evenly split and no one is giving a reason - I am interested to hear the reasoning.I think for each team it might be different. For the Bears, I think a win over the Seahawks is necessary simply to show their "validity" as a playoff team. As such, I think a loss to the Packers in the NFC Championship - even at home - is more palatable than losing to the lowly Seahawks. In fact, so much so that I think a loss to the Seahawks reopens the Lovie Smith contract discussion.Pretty simple. You have to lose. Assuming you had a choice, would you rather make it to the NFC title game and lose to your arch rival, or just lose this weekend, and get it over with? Why?
Bears fan here. I would rather lose to the Packers in the NFC championship, because that would mean one more week of football with my home team. Simple enough.
Which is exactly why I thought to post the poll. I am curious how Packer fans see this. They've already won a playoff game - they're also playing the #1 seed. UIMHO, it's a different viewpoint for Packer fans. Losing this week to the Falcons would likely just be seen as something akin to "well, they won one, then had to face the best team in the NFC, who had a week to rest..." For Bear fans I think it's a little different. Packer fans, what say you?I voted lose now, not later. IMO any season that ends in a loss flat sucks (yes, I've seen decades of suckage). If that final loss sent the Packers to the Super Bowl it would suck infinitely harder. While I would consider it a missed opportunity, I would eventually forget a divisional playoff loss to a plucky Seattle team that bounced the current Lombardi holders. An NFC Championship loss at hallowed Soldier Field that sent Green Bay to the Super Bowl would haunt me until the day they plant me in the ground.
Ditto. You play to win the game (at hand).Bears fan here. I would rather lose to the Packers in the NFC championship, because that would mean one more week of football with my home team. Simple enough.Yup, what he said....
This is what makes this a real tough one to answer. I think I might have to go with you though. Losing to GB in Chicago for a chance to go to the Super Bowl....man that will hurt alot and for a long timeI voted lose now, not later. Ironically, if the Bears (like the Packers already have) had already won a playoff game, I'd probably feel the same way. But the agonzing part is that for the Bears, it's kind of a no win situation - unless of course they win both this week and next week, presuming the Packers actually beat the Falcons. If the Bears lose to Seattle - most say "See, they shouldn't have been the #2 seed - they couldn't even win a home playoff game after a bye against a team with a loosing record." If however, they beat Seattle, many will still say "Big whip, look who they played!" - especially if they lose to the Packers at Soldier Field the following week.In fact, I honestly think the only way the Bears fans can really "tolerate" a loss in the next two weeks is if they win this week, the Packers lose, and the Bears play Atlanta tough and come up just a bit short in the NFC Championship game. Any thing else would be be agony (sports-wise) for Bears fans...at least this one.Packer fan - If they have to lose, I would much rather they lose in Atlanta this weekend than lose to the Bears. Its not close for me - easy answer.
This would bother you? I really don't care what people think about the Bears. If the Bears lose to Seattle - most say "See, they shouldn't have been the #2 seed - they couldn't even win a home playoff game after a bye against a team with a loosing record."

I think the week's intensity and passion would be quickly forgotten as the Packers celebrate their NFC championship on the Soldier Field grass and their drunken fans begin their superbowl celebration in the stands, throughout the concourse and along Lake Shore drive.I can't believe anyone would want to see their team lose this week, rather than next week. A Bears/Packers NFCC game would be epic and though obviously it would rip my heart out to see the Bears lose to the hated Packers, I would love all the intensity and passion that would fill the week prior to the game.
Except I'm a Packers fan if you didn't know.Bears fan here. I would rather lose to the Packers in the NFC championship, because that would mean one more week of football with my home team. Simple enough.
I'd rather shove an ice auger up my pee hole than lose to the bears and watch them go to the Super Bowl.
