YupThe giants took a 16m dead cap hit on this trade. It's a terrible trade for them.

Ok. Where's the ton of picks? You were not going to win anything in the next couple of years so why not set yourself up with a ton of picks and 2 future all pros coming out in the next 2 years. Pretty savvy if you look long term. Tank for tua, lose for lawrence
Im no NFL GM, but trading away your best players don't seem like the best strategyYou were not going to win anything in the next couple of years so why not set yourself up with a ton of picks and 2 future all pros coming out in the next 2 years. short term maybe, but if the plan is to tank the 2019 season its a stroke of genius.
I can actually see it hurting Barkley, defenses can stack the line now without OBJ thereFWIW, Barkely's fantasy points with/without OBJ in the lineup last year.
With OBJ: 25.30
Without OBJ: 20.5
And trade one of your two best players on a speculative play that you can land one of those guys. Good call. You were not going to win anything in the next couple of years so why not set yourself up with a ton of picks and 2 future all pros coming out in the next 2 years. So dumbAfter passing on Darnold ...LOL!! ... and Josh Rosen !!! ... Rosen's already replaced and Darnold is 2-3 years away from replacement
just trying to play devils advocate here. If you trot out manning without any wr's and cutting one of your best defensive backs while not filling out your roster you are going to lose a lot of games. And trade one of your two best players on a speculative play that you can land one of those guys. Good call.
I don't disagree with the last part, but I think the important part to them with regards to the cap is that it clears $20m in cap space next year. I doubt they care that much about this year's cap hit since they're not winning anything this year anyway. The giants took a 16m dead cap hit on this trade. It's a terrible trade for them.
Barkley will win them enough to miss out on a top 2 pick. And gms never tank, because they’re fired before the rebuild starts.just trying to play devils advocate here. If you trot out manning without any wr's and cutting one of your best defensive backs you are going to lose a lot of games.
They got a 1st and replaced their lost 3rd. How does that help them long or short term?a ton my be overstated for sure
Um nothis is one of those rare trades where both teams made out like bandits
So they're idiots, or they REALLY wanted to be rid of OBJ for reasons we don't knowThe giants took a 16m dead cap hit on this trade. It's a terrible trade for them.
Could be both.So they're idiots, or they REALLY wanted to be rid of OBJ for reasons we don't know
Which is it?
Idiots either way.So they're idiots, or they REALLY wanted to be rid of OBJ for reasons we don't know
Which is it?
These things you speak of are not mutually exclusive......So they're idiots, or they REALLY wanted to be rid of OBJ for reasons we don't know
Which is it?
Like old timey Wild West bandits, maybe. One gets away with the stagecoach and the sheriff shoots the other one in the gut.this is one of those rare trades where both teams made out like bandits
Peppers is terrible. Losing him is the second best thing about this trade.Doesn’t seem like a bad deal to me if you’re the Giants. Peppers was a 1st round pick, whom the Giants almost took instead of Engram. Plus another 1st and 3rd. Paying a WR 19 million a year isn’t the way to build a championship team. Get your young QB, build that line and win with Barkley.
He could manage. He'd only need to wait a game or two for Gordon to be suspended againIs OBJ ok with playing second fiddle once Gordon gets reinstated and resigns?
Thats kind of how I see this as well.Doesn’t seem like a bad deal to me if you’re the Giants. Peppers was a 1st round pick, whom the Giants almost took instead of Engram. Plus another 1st and 3rd. Paying a WR 19 million a year isn’t the way to build a championship team. Get your young QB, build that line and win with Barkley.
Gotta do it quick, probably, and not miss. That’s what would worry me as a Giants fan watching one of their best players traded today.Doesn’t seem like a bad deal to me if you’re the Giants. Peppers was a 1st round pick, whom the Giants almost took instead of Engram. Plus another 1st and 3rd. Paying a WR 19 million a year isn’t the way to build a championship team. Gordon is still property of the Patriots. Is OBJ ok with playing second fiddle once Gordon gets reinstated and resigns?
Yeah, definitely. Not sure if he has publicly thoughHas obj reacted yet?
You called it Soulfly I gotta admit I’m pretty impressedhey guys.... beckham is a brown
You're early to the party. Was excited for you to announce this trade in a few weeks! Why would the Giants do this? The Steelers were forced trade Brown and got peanuts, but the Giants weren't in nearly as bad of a position and should have done better than this. For an elite skill position player ENTERING his prime this is #### return
And now he gets to live near Cleveland. Poor OBJ.obj says he was "shocked"
... As in his bags were already packed and he's been txting landry for days about it
On the eagles?3rd best wr in the nfc east as of now is who???
Gallup or DJax? Sheesh.3rd best wr in the nfc east as of now is who???
Who is second, Jeffrey? That’s pathetic enough.Gallup or DJax? Sheesh.
There is a small contingent of browns fans that cant see Peppers and not think Michigan. Ignore them. Peppers is a good player. And the Giants still got fleeced.Peppers is terrible. Losing him is the second best thing about this trade.
That’s just crazy talk. He’s worth it just for his play on special teams. He has a rough first year but he has shown he is acclimating to the NFL. Terrible? Come on.Peppers is terrible. Losing him is the second best thing about this trade.
Yeah, in ppr, in Gruden's passing system, AB will be moved all over the field and should dominate targets. They paid him for a reason.AB? As a Raider? Lmao
