Benson MRI Update (1 Viewer)

I've been pretty busy the last couple of days... but haven't heard/read anyting on the matter (as far as results go). I'm interested too.

Test results show a stretched ######.

Was it me or did Benson just look like he wanted to get out of the game after his fumble?

Usually you can tell when someone gets hurt.....that play...well meh. I didn't see much.

 I'm certain that a guy who has been playing football his whole life, was a workhorse back at Texas against constant 8-man fronts, and who has been lobbying for more carries all this season, did not want to sit out when he *finally* got to a Super Bowl.

....who now plays an a team were few players like and respect him. He fumbles in the biggest game of his life. Obviously I have no proof that he's not really hurt....just my perception of the situation. It just seemed like he didn't feel apart of the team and punked out.

lol, nobody could ever accuse me of being a Benson fan, but this is downright absurd

whether you like this guy or not, I imagine he was really hurt. We have all seen enough knee injuries take place on plays where it looks like nothing serious happened.

This article may help explain why there has been no news...

Chicago, Illinois – AP reports that the latest news on Chicago Bears running back is sketchy at best. Cedric was last seen being helped off the field after a vicious hit by a Colts player. It was reported that he might have damage to his knee and he never returned to the game. It may not be his knee at all. ESPN has learned that it might be a spinal injury that kept the enigmatic running back out of the game. Reporters caught up with Dr. Gregory S. Hall of the Chicago spinal institute and he confirmed that Cedric Benson had serious spinal and spleen damage. “Mr. Benson is resting comfortably after the surgery. We are still looking for explanations to account for his injuries. He had massive bleeding of the spleen and critical spinal damage. The trauma originated in the frontal area of Mr. Benson’s torso and continued all the way through his body, into his spine. We were picking small pieces of blue and white fabric from between the disks in his lower back. Those pieces, along with a partial number, which we believe to be number 21, have been sent to the lab for further testing. Personally, I believe that Mr. Benson has been struck by a vehicle, quite possibly an Indy racing car travelling at very high speeds. That is the only explanation I can come to at this time.” The medical staff is cautiously optimistic that Cedric Benson will make a full recovery. Although they did add that he has developed a nervous condition that seems to be aggravated by the mention of the hospital’s safety regulations. Barbara Sandy, a local nurse, was able to add, “It is hard to give Mr. Benson the treatment he needs because he starts weeping and shaking uncontrollably when I enter the room. He does seem like a nice boy”, added the diminutive nurse. It is hard to imagine this small nurse with her long dreds and big smile, being able to illicit such a reaction. In another incident, he had to be medicated after a brief visitation of the hospital’s candy stripers. They were showing off their new blue uniforms with a large U, (which stands for United care) on the front of their shirts. There is no word at this time, on how long this condition may last. The Bears hope he will be ready for spring training camps in a few months.

What game did you watch? Did you actually see the play? More importantly, did you see the replay from the side that showed him get sandwiched by two guys and bent in ways the body should never bend? The guy got crumpled up like a wad of paper and then bent sideways and back. It was a devastating hit. Or should I say it was a devasting couple of hits. Go take your TJ man love/Cedric hate somewhere else....This stuff gets old.

Relax Francis. Just having some fun.Truth be told I hate em both.

I don't remember where I read it, but I'm pretty sure he had a minor strain of his MCL. He'll be fine.

Playoff injuries are always kind of tough though because if the team loses they don't have to discuss injuries anymore. So when a player gets hurt during the last game of the season, it can make it tough on fantasy players to get good information.

Its not like the Great Walter Payton lost a fumble early in Super Bowl 20!

Cedric Benson believes he only suffered a sprained MCL in the Super Bowl. He'll take an MRI Tuesday for confirmation.

If that's the case, Benson will be ready for off-season workouts. The Bears also believe the injury isn't serious. Thomas Jones would be easier to deal if Benson is 100%, but Chicago may be happy to retain both backs in 2007.

Gee, thanks for the update Johnny. That's from 5 days ago. I think people were hoping for something a bit more up-to-date. :headbang: Question: if Benson had his MRI 3 days ago, why haven't we heard any results?

Sorry for the Not-so-up-to-date post. I've been in the hospital most of the week and haven't done much surfing the net.

Bears RB Cedric Benson received his MRI results earlier today. Bears officials confirmed he only has mildly sprained lab majors.

Plus the injured ###### and ruptured spleen and spinal injury and imbedded uniform number, of course. You forgot all that. And what do lab majors have to do with anything? Aren't those white coat wearing, bunsen burner toting folks sort of outside the scope of football?

Tsk tsk... your no fan of the female genatilia if you don't know a labia major...

Isn't it majorIs?

Maybe if it were spelled right, the term wouldn't resemble something else? :bye:

Besides, I doubt Wilt the Stilt ever knew it by that name.... :goodposting:

Oh man... woosh... that had gone right over my head. Let's just say I have about a hundred names for it, but that's not one of them.

Bears :: RB

RB Benson's MRI On Knee, Negative

John Mullin, Chicago Tribune - [LINK]

The good news is that the MRI on Cedric Benson's injured knee from the Super Bowl game was negative. Benson has had three injuries that have forced him to miss games, two of them knee injuries, in two seasons. Benson came in with a history of iron man durability, but he is suddenly a health concern.
