I've really like most of the hip hop that has been released this summer, even Mac Miller has grown on me. Killer Mike/El-P, Wale, Action Bronson and J. Cole are all good. Haven't heard the new Jay Z yet tho.
I gave that Wale a listen a couple weeks ago when you recommended it. Sounded like pretty much all mainstream rap these days to me, didnt grab me at all . Highlights were that song Vanity (where he samples that song from Donnie Darko) and Wiz Khalifa's verse on 1 of the later songs. While Ive been aware of him for awhile, never really listened to Wale. I thought he was supposed to be a good lyricist, which maybe he is on his early stuff, but that didnt come across on this album to me.
I'll have to check out the Action Bronson. I have the Dr. Lecter album, love it, but for whatever reason havent got any of his other albums. Ironically I think his song on Mac Miller's album is 1 of the weakest on it.
El-P is hit or miss for me but I'll probably get around to that sometime.
