Hooton Tennis Club?
8/10 so far. Not quite up to their debut, but still pretty darn good, IMO. Clear Blue is by far the best track and there are a few others that really stick out, but unlike you I find to be pretty uneven. We'll see how it listens with more exposure as I certainly will. New running album, for sure.Yes. Top 5 of the year so far.CHVRCHES album is great, as expected.
I think this one might be deeper than Bones of What You Believe, though I think Bones had more grabber pure pop hits. There's no "Recover" or "Gun" on this one, I don't think, but the album is top-to-bottom better. And Bones has been like my second most listened to album since 2013, so that's something something.
I think I found Bones to be more uneven because there are some really killer songs on there and the rest just fall a little short. I still love Bones but I find myself skipping tracks or sometimes cutting off nearly the entire second half of the album, and I'm usually a full-album listener. I haven't had that problem with the new one yet.8/10 so far. Not quite up to their debut, but still pretty darn good, IMO. Now eagerly awaiting the new Avicii album - out Friday, I think.
I listened and thought it was pretty good.Hooton Tennis Club is a band. They have an album called HIghest Point in Cliff Town. It's good. Like somebody who grew up listening to Pavement and sprinkled in some more poppy stuff.
Hadn't even heard of this, sounds like something I would enjoy. Will listen. You guys need to check out the new debut album from Big Grams, a collaboration between Big Boi and Phantogram. It is super dope.
Lauren Mayberry is an internet-savvy girl, living in an SEO kinda world.Do they need to add some VV to it?Hooton Tennis Club?
That will never be topped. Also I liked those Dananananykroyd dudes, so I can't really say that any name is a deal-breaker.
had the NO album on in the background the other day... didn't hate it.Listened to Chvrches, New Order and Metric today (synths on synths). Really like Chvrches, parts of New Order - 'Plastic' is amazing and a little bit of Metric - 'Cascades' in particular.
Not sure if the Metric album just isn't good or if it was synth fatigue after the first two.
Seem just as prolific too..New Wand, 1000 Days, is good but I dig these guys. RIYL Ty Segall.
Just previewed a bunch of their stuff. It's... odd.Youth Lagoon just came out with new one if you want to continue the synth party.
He creeps me out.Sand said:Just previewed a bunch of their stuff. It's... odd.Youth Lagoon just came out with new one if you want to continue the synth party.
that too. It's a little far out and slow, but I've liked their earlier stuff and this new one is decent on early listens. He creeps me out.Sand said:Just previewed a bunch of their stuff. It's... odd.Youth Lagoon just came out with new one if you want to continue the synth party.
I've liked his stuff in the past. It's just a little unsettling for some reason.that too. This came out. Have only given it a half-listen at work so far. When this happens, remind us.I guess this news came out a while ago, but new Dead Weather drops Sept. 25 (includes 2 previously-released songs).
Full Wavves album is out (V)... listened to it once, and pretty much only liked the singles they released earlier. A bit disappointing.. but I'll give it some more listens. That Wavves/CNs album has held up prettty well for me.ended up cycling through it a couple of times in the background while working. good stuff, but more of a "in-the-mood" thing for me than a regular listen.Mbongwana Star - From Kinshasha
Congolese band. Not in my usual wheelhouse but sounds like outer space on headphones. Getting rave reviews.

first 20 seconds and I'm in. not sure if this will hold up for me over the whole album, but![]()
Just found Wavves/Cloud Nothings joint album, No Life for Me... part way through, and I'm liking it a lot.
Wavves appear to have a couple new singles out- pretty good as well.
That sounds interesting... will check out.You guys need to check out the new debut album from Big Grams, a collaboration between Big Boi and Phantogram. It is super dope.

Try it again. I think it's excellent.Listened to Chvrches, New Order and Metric today (synths on synths). Really like Chvrches, parts of New Order - 'Plastic' is amazing and a little bit of Metric - 'Cascades' in particular.
Not sure if the Metric album just isn't good or if it was synth fatigue after the first two.
Thanks for this Nigel. Dig it.Love Metalmania by Salad Boys. RIYL the Clean, Flying Nun, Kiwis, simple guitar pop.

In fact, listening to the new Avicii I would say Metric>>>Avicii. Not horribly impressed with what Avicii did this time around on first impression.Try it again. I am the complete opposite end of the spectrum of this. I have tried several times, but can barely get through 2 songs before pulling the plug.Deafheaven rawks.

love it musically... until they start grawking. greaming? as soon as the guys open their mouths. It's out of my wheelhouse but the guitars are so good.I am the complete opposite end of the spectrum of this. I've found that list to be pretty decent most of the time.my Spotify "discover weekly" list has a band called Sundara Karma (a couple of EPs)... seems like somebody who took Arcade Fire and evened out a lot of their edge/idiosyncracies and made it more straightforward- for better or worse, depending on what you think of Arcade Fire. first listen... I like it, but find myself missing the quirkiness.
Right. It's akin to ####ed Up for me. That aspect can be off putting but I guess it fits both bands.love it musically... until they start grawking. greaming? as soon as the guys open their mouths. It's out of my wheelhouse but the guitars are so good.I am the complete opposite end of the spectrum of this. I'm no metalhead by any stretch. Screaming is usually off putting to me but this album... just wow. I can't stop listening to it. If you can get past the vocals the music is so so good. It's out of my wheelhouse but the guitars are so good.I am the complete opposite end of the spectrum of this. Can't get past the vocals. I tried, and like KP, struggled to finish the 2nd song.Right. It's akin to ####ed Up for me.
