Best pick this year in drafts? (1 Viewer)

Last year it seemed like picks 1-3 had huge advantages in any of the following players:

LT

Shaun Alexander

Priest Holmes (this was before season)

It changes every year though.

That said, going into our 2006 drafts, what picks are we looking to be most valuable?

--assume 12 team, serpentine draft

--try to talk for redraft and/or dynasty

I want the third pick. I'll take any of LJ, SA, LT then come round 2, I pick before picks 1 and 2 ...
As of right now this is the right answer. All three have question marks since last season, yet they are certainly in their own tier.

Interesting. I feel there should be value with a late fr/early second round.

Edge, Lamont J, JJ, KJ, Ronnie B, Caddy, Brian Westbrook

They're all to be had late first/2nd and you have another pick to boot who might have great potential (Chester Taylor, Denver RB, etc)

IMO, that is pretty nice considering the Shaun/LT2/LJ guy will have a suspect #2 RB / forced to pick a WR in 2nd/3rd rounds.

Agreed. I'd take any of the three and then have the earlier 2nd rounder.

I prefer a late 1st and early second round pick, it seems in general there is a bigger dropoff after the 13-15 pick than there is between any stage of the top 13-15.

I'd rather have one of the top three as I see a greater drop off after them than I do with the potential 2nd round guys. I think there will still be decent RBs available late in the 2nd, at least pretty close to the guys taken earlier in the 2nd.Of course it depends on the league, but last year I drafted LT at 1.1 then was still able to get Curtis Martin and Julius Jones at 2.12 and 3.1.

Agreed with the #3 spot. Getting one of LT/SA/LJ is pretty big and you should be able to grab a decent #2 RB and top 5 WR in rounds 2 and 3.

I haven't done an overall ranking yet, but IIRC...

12 teamer - generically, guessing (might be way off)

In the 1st, 10-11 RBs, 1-2 WRs

2nd round, 16-17 RBs, 5-6 WRs, 1-2 QBs, maybe 1 TE(?)

3rd round, 22-24 RBs, 9-10 WRs, 2-3 QBs, 1-2 TE

Top 3 pick probably lands you

Top 3 RB

#5-6 WR or #16-17 RB

#6-7 WR or #17-18 RB

Later pick might get you

#10 RB

#12 RB / #3 WR

#22 RB / Top TE / #10 WR

After 3 rounds, it might be:

LT, Fitzgerald and Juilus Jones

vs.

SJax, Rudi, Ward

Honestly, it seems about equal, but considering how players generally drop that you expect to go higher after the 2nd round on, I'll take a top 3 pick.
