Keanu Reeves as a football player???   I would have probably liked the movie if they cast pretty much anyone else (including women) to play the main role.

The premise was fine though.

Scott Bakula as a QB was also a stretch, but it was easier to stomach.

Neither is a bad movie.

That being said the Replacements is better

(for some reason this comment was deleted when I posted it a few minutes ago)

If Eli is a successful pro QB with his demeanor I don't think anyone is a stretch.

The Replacements is an awesome guy movie. I stop to watch for a while every time I catch it on TV.

Me and some other rookies reenacted the I Will Survive jail scene at a college ref meeting last year.  We got a standing ovation.

Just realized I confused Nevcessary Roughness with The Program.

Dont think I've seen NR. If I did it was ages ago so I couldn't comment on it. The Replacements is certainly not a bad movie. Not something I would spend money to rent but it's a great comedy to watch when it comes on cable and you are spending the night in.

What were people expecting from it?

Just looked this part up.

Necessary Roughness Convict Roster:

**** Butkus ...

Earl Campbell ...

Roger Craig ...

Ben Davidson ... (computer fraud)

Tony Dorsett ...

Evander Holyfield ...

Ed 'Too Tall' Jones ...

Jim Kelly ...

Jerry Rice ...

Herschel Walker ...

Randy White ...

What actors around at that time do you feel would have been believable in that role?
Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Will Smith, James Franco, Denzel, pretty much anyone else.  Maybe excluding Tom Cruise as you'd need to get mini me offensive linemen.

Hmm DW....

...Freud could have a field day with this. :nerd:

Mule-Penis Envy perhaps?

Nah...

...not you.

Sometimes a Mule-#### is just a Mule-####.

Freud was a freak anyways.

;)
Yeah he was,  Still, I'd invite him over if he were still around.  He always had good cigars and good blow and he would be around 150 years old so how much trouble could he be?

Mules are hung, but also sterile.

Flawed, neither are bad, both are pretty fun little football movies. Texas State Fightin' Armadillo's has been one of my dynasty fantasy team names for over 10 years now.

Agree with the above comment, but gonna go with the Replacements because the cheerleaders were strippers from the D.C. area doing dances to Donna Summer.

Like the alliteration there? So did I.
