I think for most folks this will be a very nice bonus for being a member.
Actually I was talking about the existing fanduel customers acting like FBG just killed their dog because fanduel isn't giving them free money to do nothing.Characterizing something as overhype does not equate to entitlement. I think it's great for everyone who cares about it. And I hope it doesn't take away from features other subscribers care about more.Odd sense of what constitutes entitlement by some people.Odd sense of entitlement by some people.
Well, yes, you pay the time it takes to sign up to the other site. My point is money-wise the only cost is the $25, and even that is still your $25.It's silly to say it's "essentially" free. I am not on FanDuel and don't plan to be. And I suspect the same is true of a large percentage of FBG subscribers.I assume the deposit has to be used (or at least laid on the line) in order for this to work.Otherwise, what goofball wouldn't immediately withdraw the $ the second they got the free FBG subscription? It's pretty huge. The site is essentially free this year for about 90% of FBGers (anyone who wasn't already on FanDuel). All it costs is a $25 deposit, but it doesn't cost $25 because that money is still yours. The only cost is basically whatever you win or lose with your deposit.Huge for Joe & David is not necessarily the same as huge for subscribers. It's great that they set it up, but what percentage of their subscribers will care? Just seems like a case of overhype to me.I hope the three articles per week and the effort devoted to setting up this partnership don't detract from other features that are higher priority to more of the subscribers.

I understood your point. For anyone who doesn't care to participate in FanDuel, it is not free. It is just paying FanDuel instead of paying FBG.Well, yes, you pay the time it takes to sign up to the other site. If you're an existing fanduel customer, and pop 25$ in to your account, what the hell is the difference?New or existing, both should be rewarded with the FBG membership bonus. how does this not make sense?Actually I was talking about the existing fanduel customers acting like FBG just killed their dog because fanduel isn't giving them free money to do nothing.Characterizing something as overhype does not equate to entitlement. I think it's great for everyone who cares about it. The difference is that by spending $25 on you, they have not grown their business, which is the point of this promotion. Not including you in the promotion may shrink their business, but I doubt a lot of people will stop playing because of that, and I'm sure they expect that to happen to some extent. If you're an existing fanduel customer, and pop 25$ in to your account, what the hell is the difference?New or existing, both should be rewarded with the FBG membership bonus. how does this not make sense?I'll tell you what... NOT giving current fanduelers this promotion will likely turn them OFF of the website. What percentage of new member signups do you think will stick to the website after their 25$ is used up? A small # I imagine... Why not keep your EXISTING customers happy? The ones who have PROVEN to use and return to your site for their gambling fix.Actually I was talking about the existing fanduel customers acting like FBG just killed their dog because fanduel isn't giving them free money to do nothing.Characterizing something as overhype does not equate to entitlement. Simple stuff, really.
And I make every effort to ensure whatever corporation I'm dealing with, matches that offer (if I actually want it), or I bail. Hell, there's even a thread dedicated to it, in the pool... The "how to get Sunday Ticket Free" thread (or whatever it is). It's basically promoted here. Tell DirecTV you're going to another provider cuz they offered you "x,x,x,x,x" even though they didn't... and voila. you go what you want. Now, I don't expect folks to do this to the FBG's, because we come here for more than that. But who's to say it won't happen at least a few times over?Sign-up bonuses are very common.
$100 is too high, but the point is this is good for both the owners and the subscribers. You all make a ton off the deal which is great and at the same time anyone who was going to subscribe anyway gets a free $35 from fanduel. No one loses.$100? I should have let you negotiate this deal for us, moderated. We're not going to get into details but I promise you it's a ton less than that. But I agree with you that it's a win for all. Hope you make a ton of money with it. Or at least just have fun playing. And I'll give you a call next time we need to nail a contract down.Jit depends on how you look at it. Whoever was going to subscribe to FBG's anyway gets a free $35 on fanduel to play with.FBG's probably gets $100 for every referral, so they make a ton, but it's for the good of their subscriber base as we can only gain on the deal.Win win situation and for the owners like Dodds/Bryant it's a huge announcement. It may not be huge for subscribers, but it's still beneficial and we get a free $35 to play with.'Shane Falco said:I can't wait for the big announcement later todayOr was that it?
You're exactly right! Per FanDuel's website, they take out 10% of the league fees. This vig is not a big deal if you're talking a 4 month season. Day in and day out, it will eat you up. House vig for the great game of roulette? 5.26%So you're gambling on a game that's nearly twice as bad as roulette.so say for every $5 you bet they take 50 cents automatically or something?Have fun but be aware daily fantasy sites carry very heavy juice. You simply will not beat this over the long term.introduces me to another vehicle for my gambling addiction.
Yes, but then the analogy only holds if some roulette wheels are worse at roulette than I am. If that makes sense. You're exactly right! jeez. pick another state. use pay pal. common senseWe apologize, but for legal reasons we cannot accept deposits and paid play from users in Maryland.just skimming through eligibility, found this tidbit you should probably know:
I assume that means no deposits to the account from those states. If you are a resident of Arizona, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Montana, or Vermont, you cannot play FanDuel for real money.
I played quite a bit last year and the opportunity to make money is there. They have many types of games from head-to-head ($5 entry wins $9), 50/50 (top half make $9 each on a $5 game), 10-team leagues with a structured payout and very large leagues (usually 1,000 to 3,000 entrants) with lower entry fees and higher payouts. The bonus money is earned based on playing the real money deposited. Unless it's changed, you earned $0.04 of the bonus for every $1.00 real money played. Simple math, to get the full $10.00 bonus, you have to play in $250 worth of games. As long as you're winning, the bonus is nice. Lose five $5.00 games, and you'll have $1.00 of your bonus...As someone who only casually gambles, can you flesh this out a bit for me. Also, so say for every $5 you bet they take 50 cents automatically or something?Have fun but be aware daily fantasy sites carry very heavy juice. It's like playing in a $3/$6 limit Hold em game with a $4 rake. You simply will not beat this over the long term.introduces me to another vehicle for my gambling addiction.
Great job guys. You guys always try to do the right thing and seem to always have your suscriber's best interest in mind. One of the many reasons I keep renewing my subscriptions.Just got done talking with FanDuel here.
Some good and bad news.
The bad news is if you have deposited money before with FanDuel, you are not eligible for this offer. This is offered as a one-time signup bonus for new accounts.
For people though that signed up for freerolls without ever depositing money, we have much better news:
FanDuel is going to manually change their past affiliate tags to the current one we are using with this promo: FBG. That means if they deposit now, they will qualify for the subscription. Once they deposit, they'll get the "Footballguys success!" page alerting them that they've qualified for the subscription.
The FanDuel develpment team will need to make this tweak tonight though so please wait until Wednesday or later if this is your situation.
The big thing is we wanted to make sure anyone who signed up for the freeroll stuff last year was able to play take advantage of this. Hang on and we hope to have things ready for you guys that applies to on Thursday.Just got done talking with FanDuel here.

some people have zero business sense. you save $3, no big deal but its not hard to win that money back either. most of the people on there know a lot less than the average fbg'er does. win some of the money back and in the mean time, you get to play a pretty fun ff game. there is absolutely nothing to complain about here.i played on another site last year. it was so fun that i dropped all of my redraft leagues this year and will focus on this.I don't see what the big deal is. It's $25/$28 bucks, and it is EXACTLY like buying something then having it go on sale the next day. And it IS how companies attract new customers and/or cross-promote their products. FBG is not doing anything wrong in creating promotions to attract new customers.
Yup you guys did the right thing. I apologize for my earlier nerd rage fest and deleted the posts. It's good to see you guys still have the best customer service in the biz.count me in as a FBGer who was a lil bummed because already fanduel member but yet may be saved by the freeroll addendumthx to Joe and David for looking out for us
Spoke a little too soon. This email will go out tonight.'David Dodds said:Just got done talking with FanDuel. There is a slightly different procedure for the people that played in the freeroll, but never deposited cash into FanDuel. The offer is still the same (Deposit $25 or more and get a free FBG subscription), but just a slightly different procedure. An email from Joe Bryant (coming in the next hour) will spell out exactly what you need to do to get this offer.
The way affiliate deals used to work for poker and sportsbook sites is that someone else (in this case FBG) steers players to the site. Then FanDuel will agree to pay a cut of all yoru losses. So if you deposit and lose $100 playing on FanDuel, FBG may be seeing something like $10-25 of that depending on their deal. Basically you refer people to a gambling site and hope they lose and keep depositing more so they lose more.Dont' know if that is the care here....but this is how it worked for poker and sportsbooks just a couple years ago before almost all got shut down for US players.'moderated said:$100 is too high, but the point is this is good for both the owners and the subscribers. I'd guess something more along the ownership lines... i.e. 'If we give you 5% ownership in our site, you promote our games and steer as many subscribers our way as you can' That way, if business increases from the referrals, everyone wins. And the small hit taken on subscriptions is made up for by the increase in value of the the affiliated site in the long run.Could be anything though really. The way affiliate deals used to work for poker and sportsbook sites is that someone else (in this case FBG) steers players to the site. sameim inActually, I consider this a very big announcement. I subscribe to Footballguys every year. This gives me a free year's subscription and introduces me to another vehicle for my gambling addiction. WIN-WIN in my book.I can't wait for the big announcement later todayOr was that it?
the email was sent out this morning, to everyone.Im not signing up to anything, but got it.Joe said about 48 hours we'd get an email. Still looking for mine, I assume that is coming today if I signed up on the 31st right?
A lot of rubes are going to be walking down the midway at fanduelIf i were an existing customer, I'd be psyched about the 10000 new donks coming in. :mansion:
We are working off of the list that FanDuel sends us each morning. They are a British company so not sure about their cutoffs for the report.
