Big Ben (2 Viewers)

Ben Roethlisberger (ankle) says he escaped Monday's loss without further injury.Roethlisberger also said he's ahead of where he was this time last week, and implied he'd like to start against the Rams. He admitted the decision isn't up to him, however. With the Steelers essentially locked into the fifth seed in the AFC barring the Browns upsetting Baltimore this weekend, expect Pittsburgh to hold its hobbling quarterback out against the league's second-worst team
Cant a Cincy win vs. Baltimore in Week 17 get the Steelers the division if they were to beat the Rams and Browns?

yes, Rotoworld isnt known for its accuracy

Nfl channel Jason laConfors reporting Ben is unlikely. Wondering how this impacts the WR if true. Is it possible they rest other startes also like mendy? Does Redman become a nice play against a soft STL DEF??

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Gerry Dulac reports Ben Roethlisberger (ankle) is not expected to return to practice Thursday. The Pittsburgh media has been sending mixed signals on Roethlisberger's Week 16 status, but if he doesn't practice Thursday he'll almost certainly be inactive against the Rams. Unlike last week, most signs are pointing toward Roethlisberger sitting out.
@gerrydulac Gerry DulacBen Roethlisberger not expected to practice Thursday either. Last big practice of the week,. If u don't practice, u don't play, Tomlin says.

Steelers officials would be "shocked" if Ben Roethlisberger (ankle) plays in Saturday's game against the Rams, according to NFL.com's Jason La Canfora.Coach Mike Tomlin hasn't hinted at Roethlisberger's status, but La Canfora says the organization expects at least one week of rest. It makes a ton of sense. The Steelers' hopes for a first-round bye are fading, Big Ben was immobile on Monday night and they can beat the Rams at home with Charlie Batch. It's time to downgrade Mike Wallace and Antonio Brown.
Who are these officials? Until tomlin says hes not playing, I am assuming he is
bump / I swear I remember tomlin saying last week that ben did not have to practice to play. again, until tomlin says hes not playing, I am assuming he is

Will we?

I would think that Ben playing last week was because the Steelers were still fighting for the #1 seed. And after watching the game, I think it is apparent to everyone that he needs rest because the real goal is to do well in the playoffs.

At this point, I think the risk doesn't justify playing him. The Steelers should be able to beat the Browns and Rams without him and have Ben rested for the playoffs.

Report: Roethlisberger to miss next gameDecember, 22, 2011 Dec 2210:30AM ETEmailPrintComments5By Jamison HensleyTeam officials in Pittsburgh are privately saying quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will rest his injured ankle Saturday against the St. Louis Rams and possibly sit out the regular-season finale, sources told NFL.com. In his Tuesday press conference, Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin didn't commit to Roethlisberger being the Steelers starter on Saturday. Roethlisberger injured his left ankle on Dec. 8 against Cleveland but played the entire game in a 20-3 loss at San Francisco on Monday night. I endorsed the move to rest Roethlisberger until the playoffs. Roethlisberger doesn't sound like he wants to sit out Saturday. The Steelers would take control of the AFC North on Saturday if they beat the Rams and the Ravens lose at home to Cleveland. "I've said many times I want to go and I'll try and be ... ready to go," Roethlisberger told reporters.

so now they are saying it will be a game time call as to if ben plays. this must mean they still want ben to play.

if he gets the start, any chance they pull him super early or do they let him play the whole game? anybody still willing to start him?

Houston loses at Indy. The #2 seed and a bye week is now up for grabs.

I'm guessing Ben's ankle has improved dramatically in the past four hours.

Don't forget Baltimore just lost Boldin for the next two weeks ( v. CLE, @ CIN). A Ravens loss is entirely possible here.

Nice.. Outlook then improves significantly for guys like Brown and Wallace as well.
The other side of the coin is they play him, people go all in with their steelers, and he doesn't play the whole game (say the steelers get the game under control or there is a set back with the ankle).I think if I have Brown or wallace and I have other options, I would feel better hearing Ben is out so I can just move on.

Id rather have a half with Ben @ QB and a half with Batch @ QB then the whole game with Batch (as a Wallace owner).
