Biggest LIES from famous music lyrics? Whatcha got? (1 Viewer)

For example:

1. “Thunder only happens when it’s raining.” BS. I’ve heard thunder when it was sunny out, Ms. Nicks.

2. “Never trust a big butt and a smile.” More BS. Some smiles and big butts can definitely be trustworthy.

What other lies are out there in our music lyrics?

Soul Asylum: "Standing in the sun with a popsicle, anything is possible."

I tried it and the NY Jets still can't make the playoffs. Brutal rhyme too, but that's for another thread.

"And if he can't drive with a broken back,
At least he can polish the fenders"

Sorry Billy, but if I have a broken back the fenders being polished isn't exactly my #1 current concern.

Color Me Badd: "We can do it 'til we both wake up."

Unless "it" = sleep, you aren't doing anything if you're not awake, Casanova.

Supernova by Kylie Minogue:

Shining like a supernova, brightest of the stars

From another galaxy like Jupiter and Mars...

You can be happy for the rest of your life while making a pretty girl your wife.

not every girl is crazy about a sharp dressed man.

Kelis claims in Milkshake that her Milkshake brings all the boys to the yard and that she can teach me how to make one like hers for a charge, but then the music video shows her ordering a milkshake from a diner instead of making one of her own.

"Born and raised in South Detroit"

There is no such place.
I did some research and there actually is a South Detroit township in Brown County, South Dakota (scroll down in the link):

Taking a wild guess that Journey didn’t play a show there and came up with that location for the song.

I remember seeing something where they said the original lyric was east or west Detroit, which geographically is correct, but it just didn't sound good.

I heard my mama cry
I heard her pray the night Chicago died
Brother, what a night it really was
Brother, what a fight it really was
Glory be

Narrator: Chicago didn’t die

As much as I love Jiminy Cricket, this is a lie:

When you wish upon a star
Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires
Will come to you
