Blizzard in Minneapolis (1 Viewer)

From what I've read, the Minneapolis airport is still closed and the Giants are in KC right now waiting...not sure if it will delay the start time/date at all but something to keep an eye on.

It is miserable from Omaha North. On a good day you are looking at an 8 1/2 hour drive from KC to Minneapolis so I can only guess how long it would take in this weather. I am halfway between the 2 cities, all of the major roads in Iowa and Minnesota are closed.

They're used to dealing with this kind of stuff in Minnesota and the storm is supposed to be moving out of that area soon. Still, I wonder if it will get pushed back to a late game?

We have not had storm like this since 91. Been checking my sidewalk every so often up to 14 inches of snow here in Saint Paul and it's not done yet. Beind the snow is temps in range of 4 to 10 below zero and a nasty wind. Oh wait we still have that damn dome!.... Using Weather.com futrue radar the heavy snow should stop by 8PM with the light snow done by midnight, I say the Gaints should fly in to the Twin Cities in the morning and bus right to the dome.

 It's 440 miles. It is a much shorter drive than 8 1/2 hours on a good day. More like 6 1/2.

Yep. I live about 2.5 hours SW of the stadium, and it's one of the strongest Winter storms I've seen since moving here 7+ years ago. Probably only 8 inches of snow as of around 10:00am this morning (no biggie), but the wind is HOWLING...and that was AFTER 1/2" of rain/ice last night that is under all this snow. I had an hour to kill and a spare tire to work off earlier this morning, so I went out to try and make a dent in the sidewalks for tomorrow. By the time I got done shoveling half our front sidewalk, the section I started shoveling was 3-4" deep with new/drifting snow. I finally said "the heck with this!" and went inside to warm up. 5-6 hours later? Most of the sidewalk I shoveled out looks like I didn't even touch it...with 1-2" of additional new snowfall on top of things besides.

Who are the idiots who want the Vikings to build a new stadium without a roof, exactly?! I'm all about trying to be a tough-guy for the wife and to impress my two kids...but who in their right minds would want to pay a couple hundred bucks to sit and freeze their arses off in some bleachers with the wind howling?! And before Packer fans chime in, I said who in their RIGHT minds... :towelwave:

They knew this weather was coming. Why not leave on Friday? duh
Here in Sioux Falls (about 1/2 way between Omaha and Minneapolis) we were expecting 2 inches over night. We're now at 7+ and with the wind, it's one of the nastiest storms in recent memory. I guess what I'm saying is; the weather caught a log of people off guard.

If you're saying there hasn't been a storm like this in many years, it's not out of the question that the fabric roof at the Vikings stadium could collapse. I think it's happened before. :towelwave:

Talk about pissing away your home field advantage.

They've been predicting exactly what has happening since Wednesday. There's no excuse for the Giants not being there already.

It has but that was wet snow, this is light fluffly stuff.

They have been talking about this storm hitting the Midwest and East Coast for several days.

Exactly. Make them forfeit if they can't get there on time. Ha!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NY SUPER BOWL WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO(Jersey Super Bowl but either way)

I would imagine the first thing they do if necessary is push the start time back. Then if that fails to help, MNF.

Glad I dont live in that stuff. And Garda brings up an excellent point. SuperBowl in Jersey is a really really bad idea.....You could all watch in mild balmy conditions in Florida the way SB was meant to be played. Or freeze your ### off up north. Hope the $2K/ticket is worth it. Ask if it includes the thermal undies and parkas. LOLOLOL

They're staying the night in KC. It looks like the game will be moved to Monday.
Not sure where you're getting that.
NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said Sunday's game was still scheduled to start at 1 p.m. EST, with the Giants planning to fly to Minnesota on Sunday morning.
ESPN.com
Not if NYG aren't there tonight it won't.
Did you even bother to read the article that was linked? It clearly says that the Giants are flying in Sunday morning, and the 1pm SUNDAY start time is still the plan.

I would take cold and snowy conditions at a game I was attending any day over "mild balmy conditions." And I don't remember anyone saying the SB was meant to be played in warm indoor dome conditions :whoosh: , but would be interested in a link if that is so.

I don't see him mentioning anything about the SB meant to be played in a dome. If you know anything about football you would know the intention of the NFL was to have the SB in a warmer climate. That changed when they awaded the SB to NY and it remains to be seen what they do in the future. If you need a link I suggest you look at the locations of the past Super Bowls.

Probably The Same People That Remember That The Vikings Used To Play Outdoors And Went To 4 Superbowls When They Played Outdoors. How Many Times Have They Been There Since They Moved Indoors?

Why Not Have The SB In A "Cold" Weather Outdoors City Once In A While Since There Are Still Teams That Have To "Occasionally" Have To Deal With The "Cold" Weather During The Playoffs.Oh Yeah That's Right The Players Are Too "Soft" To Tough It Out By That Point Of The Season So The Look To SB Week As A "Vacation".

Up in the NW suburbs of the Twin Cities, I j ust finished grilling some steaks outside to a nice medium rare. It's windy and snowy, but if I can grill outdoors then they should be able to play some football (once an outdoor stadium is built)!!! :lmao:

   ... First point, your right, my bad. Everything else... dur. I get that the SB has always been in warmer climates, because of reasons x,y,and z, but the SB was never "meant" to be played in balmy warm conditions. Meaning: The SB wasn't specially created to be played in warmer climates, where if it was played in colder climates it wouldn't work. Analogy: Household scissors were meant to cut paper, not rocks. The SB was never meant to be played in specific climate conditions, it just always has for a laundry list of reasons.

I appreciate your condescending remarks, though. Really gets your point across.

Crazy. RT @sportswatch: Heard from a reliable person in TV Land that if Giants arrive by 9 a.m. CT, game is at noon. If not, then 3. 26 minutes ago

Sounds like MNF isn't in the cards as of now.

How slow are you? The SB HAS never been played in a cold climate other than Detroit(in a dome). That was been done for several reasons and some of those don't include the weather for the game. If you don't understand that I suggest you do some research on the reasons why the SB has not been played in colder climates.
