LSU down 6-2 with the bases loaded at this point. Not like LSU would have won if this didn't happen, but it was definitely a momentum changer. A few points I'd like to make.
1. He was obviously safe
2. 2nd base ump (who made the call) had his back turned to the play. He clearly didn't see it and made the call based on the reaction by UC Irvine
3. Looked like the pitcher was still on the dirt, but tough to tell
4. Great sell by UC Irvine all around. Since it seemed to happen so quick, I wonder if the pitcher and the 2nd baseman had some sort of signal to initiate the play....or did the pitcher just notice that he was off the bad a little so he stood at the back of the mound??
