Boller off the Bench (1 Viewer)

So if McNAir isn't ready to go this week -- and at this point in time it can go either way -- does Boller coming into the game help or hurt?

Sometimes, the backup QB coming in is a good thing, as it rejuvenates the offence given that the backup sometimes brings different skillsets to teh table, whether that's a stronger downfield arm, more mobility, better scrambleing, etc. While McNair looked his age out there, does Boller really bring much else to the table?

Sometimes, the backup QB -- having not worked with the first unit as much -- is discombobulated and performes poorly. With Jonathan Ogden out, protection for Boller will be that much shakier.

However, the Jets provide a good matchup for this offence this week.

What's the prognostication of the sharks for Baltimore's offence this week if Boller comes into play?

I actually think it would help the skill players. McNair just looks like a broken man out there.

IMHO -- Upgrade across the board

although the Ogden injury really puts a ceiling on that upgrade

More check-down targets for Heap? Not like he doesn't get enough already....

Offence......Canadians :goodposting:

McNair looked horrible out there, so I can't see how it could get worse.

And for what its worth, Pro Football Prospectus predicted an improvement from Boller this year.

As a Heap owner I would prefer to have Boller be the QB. He locks into Heap a lot and appears to be more likely to throw the ball further downfield to him. On Monday night, the announcers noted that McNair checks down pretty quickly and missed Heap on a downfield pass where he was wide open. Boller tried to get it to Heap twice on the goal line (the called back TD and the INT) so it is obvious he looks to him in the red zone which is obviously a plus as well.

Starting to think something isnt right with Clayton. Like whatever was bothering him in preseason is far from gone. Just speculating based on his week 1 goose egg, the Mason and Demtrius week 1 targets, and this tidbit:

Sep. 12, 2007 - 6:18 p.m. ET Mark Clayton was limited Wednesday due to a toe injury. The Ravens newspapers haven't issued a report on it to date, but it appears Clayton is still dealing with a foot/ankle/toe type injury suffered in the preseason. Demetrius Williams started over him in Monday night's loss.
Demetrius also missed some practice yesterday per the FBGs email update.I think Mason and Heap make great plays this week. Im bearish on Clayton until he plays a full game and plays well. Boller does help Clayton long term when Clayton is healthy though.

 No amount of time south of the border will, it seems, rid me of spelling offence with a "c," neighbour with a "u," or calling it Kraft Dinner instead of mac & cheese. As far as Boller, I know he's been in the orgnization, and knows the playbook, and I remember last year he put up some good games against Carolina and Cleveland. We'll see if he has similar success in spot starting.

More INTs from the offense... a few time Boller had pressure he threw off his wrong foot and threw the ball up.
