Bored Upgrade - discussion (1 Viewer)

The list of people currently browsing the forum at the bottom of the forum used to put people's names in italics if they were writing a post.  It fills me with rage that this seems to have gone away.

Right now with only 55 members posting it takes only 11 minutes for a thread to go from top of page one to bolivian (page 2). If we only have 25 topics per page I think now the time is right to permanently lock the GM thread. It's long overdue anyway but now we simply do not have the room.

I'm a regular on the Previously.TV forums. They also use IP.Board software, but theirs is implemented so much better than this. I have no idea why this looks so bad and is so unusable. The forums there are great. Did joe only buy the $3 version?
maybe fbg could hire their tech guy for an afternoon to clean things up.

i understand this mods situation here is like me and my vcr.

i dont want to spend an hour wading thru the menu options to figure stuff out, i just want to watch a movie.

Hey guys DFS industry is in shambles right now, we should be happy this upgrade didn't revert us back to ole yeller.

Horrible.

I guess my only remaining complaint then is the ability to quote by opening in a separate tab so you can keep your spot on the page.  Not sure if this is some advanced #### though.
Will pass it on.  In the meantime, if you open a new tab via the timestamp for the post you want to quote, it will open the new tab and jump you to that post so you just have to hit Quote on it then in the new tab.  Agree it would be nice to have it more like the old way though.

For quoting.

Select all text/quotes

Click top of quote  pop up shows up that says quote text.

That's how you can nest

JFC, why is there a "mark site read" button?
That option was also available in the previous version.  I mis-clicked it once.
You mean it doesn't actually make you read it all?

Oh, I see now. So, this won't work on mobile, right?
@Walking Boot

This was a nested multi quote on mobile. Click the word hours or something at the very top quote. It may collapse but quote text will pop up and work

Hey!

You know how when you cancel replying to a post, then pick another post to reply to instead, but when you open the reply window, both posts show up?

I found out how to correctly clear out the old posts so it's not a problem anymore.

But that doesn't work on mobile either because it requires a right-click. Just like multi-nesting doesn't work on mobile because it requires a pop up.

Good thing this board only has one version now that "is the same on desktop and mobile".

I think it's smart for FBG to ignore the mobile side and focus on desktop. That's where the future is!
sorry this is causing you so much pain

Can't get the "quote this" to appear on Android/Chrome
That's what I'm using

If you clicked quote on someone to reply to them but then change your mind, its going to still be there when you try to quote another person's posts and you can't seem to erase the quote box.

Do we not have an HTML version anymore?
This is a pain, but a simple workaround is to just post with the old quote and then delete the post. This clears the memory in the new post box.

how do you make it post all of the quotes and not just one thanks brohans this is important for all of the lenghty detailed discssion battles of intellectual that swc engages in take that to the bank

Can you walk through the steps of what you're seeing @Insein?

What are you trying to do to delete the quote?  Are you going mouse-over on it and clicking the top left box and hitting delete or backspace?   Tried Control-A to highlight everything to delete?  Or are you on mobile?

I click quote on a post.

I back out of the post because I changed my mind.

I go to a new topic and click either quote or just in the reply box. The previous quote is still there.

I try deleting the text but the box remains.

I try clicking the cross icon to select the object but it doesn't work.

I'm using the Google chrome mobile version.

It is indeed a work around but the simple part of debate with.
Yes. Based on likes.

For example, my like total is more than 10% of my post total. Which means I am awesome.

ETA: I didn't quote this post. Hmmm.

@shuke A workaround I have found is to click on the "3 hours ago, shuke said:" time stamp in the top left of the post and open that in a new tab. It takes you straight to that post in the new tab and you can quote/post from that tab. Go back to original tab to continue reading the thread in order.

ETA: It looks like Greg Russell already answered this.

Remove some of the spacing and I'm quite happy with it
On mobile, it's not so much spacing as it is vast swaths of white nothingness, with the occasional post sprinkled throughout.

So that is what that was for. I had a guy call me out for taking 30 minutes to make a post one time (I started to post and then got distracted) and I thought he had somehow hacked into my webcam. Whew.

No more spoiler tags?
Use this code:

<div style="margin: 0px;"> <div class="smallfont" style="margin-bottom: 2px;"> <strong>Spoiler!</strong> <input value="Show" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; width: 45px; font-size: 10px;" onclick="if(this.parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('div')[1].getElementsByTagName('div')[0].style.display != 'inline') { this.parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('div')[1].getElementsByTagName('div')[0].style.display = 'inline'; this.innerText = ''; this.value = 'Hide'; } else { this.parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('div')[1].getElementsByTagName('div')[0].style.display = 'none'; this.innerText = ''; this.value='Show'; }" type="button" /></div> <div class="alt2" style="border: 0px inset; padding: 0px;"> <div class="spoiler" style="display: none;">{param}</div> </div> </div>
