Boy who identifies as girl competing in girl's track (1 Viewer)

You're the one calling out the admirable behavior of a 12 year old girl on a message board and someone else is the nutjob?

FFS how can you possibly keep getting more and more ignorant?
This is not working out well for you. You always tell me, so I'm telling you.

This is about segregation of sports and testosterone. He's not wrong this time.

No, oddly enough, my daughter is grounded enough that she enjoys improving her best times, and sees that as a worthwhile challenge.  She does not define herself by "winning" swim meets.
OMG HOW ENLIGHTENED YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ARE!!!

Participation trophys for all!!!!
Tell me what this reply, to Sinn's statement, has to do with segregation of sports and testosterone?

Nothing. Its hateful and ignorant, which is par for the RBM course.

Meanwhile we can't get a single poster to defend Donald Trump on substance.
Trump's growing into the job, and his SC pick received good reviews from both sides of the aisle.

I applaud his establishing the President's Commission Combating Drug Addiction and the Opioid Crisis.  That's long overdue.  I'm also in favor of his lifting the short-term ban on leasing federal land for coal production, lifting limits on coal production and returning energy production authority to the states.  He's also been silently promoting initiatives related to women in scientific fields.  The Protecting Women in Entrepreneurship Act calls on the National Science Foundation to "recruit and support women to expand their focus into the commercial world in its entrepreneurial programs". The Inspiring the Next Space Pioneers, Innovators, Researchers and Explorers Women Act requires NASA to encourage women and girls to study science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Add in a bunch of other little stuff like ordering greater scrutiny of travelers from countries that promote terrorism, and I give the guy a solid 'C+'

Well, it has to do with whether or not boys participating in girls' sports are okay, the values we hold we hold about competition, and what should be accomplished. Do I agree with RBM over Sinn? Probably not. I'd rather we compete against the better part of ourselves. But a lot of people don't see it that way.

You know what Rock, I probably agree with Sinn's premise also. But I didn't care for how he was presenting it, as if they're better than those that compete to win and aren't happy when they don't.

And I understand your position, which is why I'd even wade into the RBM/Limp debate about it. It's really not fair for girls who expect to compete against other girls to compete against a boy, tried and true. Intersex is one thing, identity is another.

As long as we're segregating the sports and creating policy along those lines, this is very much up for debate.

You would think that if "she" identifies as a girl she would try to look at least a little like one - makeup, etc.

This dude looks and talks like Ricky Williams and has a full mustache

Hateful?     The only things hateful being said in here came from you.

This kid looks bigger than I was when I was 15, and I was a big boy. I hope the arguing over 6 pages hasn't been about whether Andraya can run with girls, bc that is utterly insane and not really up for debate IMO. Regardless of how she wants to identify, I'd be infuriated if I had a daughter that had to compete against Andraya in a female track event.

Carry on.

If high schools would just go with the NCAA best practices policies, this could all be dealt with rather easily.  Doesn't seem to be happening anywhere - in the liberal or conservative states.

One can have a body with every cell having y chromosomes and still be born with female genitalia and a uterus.  XY/XX aren't fully determinative of biological sex assignment (or, obviously, gender.)
   i've seen proof in quite a few Deutschland pr0n offerings ??

You missed your boy LDs latest temper tantrum.

Henry is here. There is an opportunity for an enlightening discussion if anyone wants to take it. Ignore the morons. We can do it!

Meh.  We have multiple threads discussing this.  No one's opinion changes very much. I'm sure this thread will be funnier without my input.

The usual cast of characters think that anyone opposed to this are in the wrong - moops, massraider, Sinn Fein, Tanner, Limpy, cliff clavin...

Some of you guys need to step away from each other for awhile imho. Tedious trying to wade through all the nonsense.

I tried to nudge the conversation in an adult direction, but no one bit, and Higgs said he wasn't interested.  So fuggit.

In the meantime, everyone enjoy the musical stylings of Eden Atwood.  She's a jazz musician, hottie, born a woman in everyone on Earth's eyes until she realized she never got her period and needed to be tested to find out why, and is XY.

Such a small issue.  Are we talking about something like 10 or less transgender people in the country who are winning high school and college sporting events?  If the parents are really worried about their kids getting cheated I'd imagine steroid use is 100 times more common among girls.  And probably 10,000 times more common among boys.  I personally don't really care if you make transgender kids compete with their born gender or the gender they identify with.  But you certainly should allow them to compete in one group or the other.  I think we have bigger issues to worry and complain about personally.  But that's just me.

While I'm sure she's a fine musician, I'm not sure how this relates to a dude running track against girls.

I'm of the opinion one should be out of the running for titles or accolades until one is on hormone treatments for a year.  Don't have an issue with the general competition aspect.

No. And I don't feel like scrolling through 6 pages on my phone to find it
That's fair.  The gist was "how stupid to think someone could be a girl with a y chromosome."  Because that's an often-used talking point, and factually misguided/flat-out wrong, I feel compelled to explain why that is.

If you had a daughter that trained 3-4 hours a day, only to lose by a tenth of a second to Andraya Yearwood at the state track meet, you'd prob care. So while it doesn't impact you, it does impact someone.

In the grand scheme of things, it means nothing, but nonetheless, should not be competing against girls.

What if another girl who beat your daughter was on steroids.  You'd feel the same correct?

I think one thing that gets overlooked when you're older is that winning is important to a youth. Sure, I look back on a lot of sports I played before I was the old man I am today and realize that nothing life changing or important came out of those games, but that isn't how I felt in my youth, and I assume the youngsters playing today feel the same.

I remember getting butterflies in my gut, the excitement for the game, anticipation to play, the preparation, trouble sleeping the night before - the happiness from winning and the sadness from losing. We overlook this as adults because we know in the grand scheme it is inconsequential for about 99.999% of the participants, but they don't know that and winning is everything when playing (I'm not talking about 9 year old little league, that's for fun, although winning still makes it more enjoyable). Although, I do remember a pee wee football season from when I was 9, we went undefeated and played and lost in the pee wee regional finals (or whatever they were), I was crushed.

I have a feeling people in their 80's and beyond have similar thoughts to all the 30 - 50 year olds killing themselves to own a big house and drive German autos.

:goodposting:

Miss that night before feeling. Especially when pitching.

Still remember being one out away from a shut out when I was 10. Bases loaded, 3-0 game, lazy fly ball to left and the kid out there wasn't paying attention and ended up butchering it. From there it turned into the typical little league circus and everyone scored. Lost 4-3. It still makes my stomach turn, because I was dominant that day, but obviously now know it really doesn't matter. Kid in left went to a different grade school, so we didn't hang out much then, but ended up at the same high school and being really good friends.
