Bragging, venting, crowing, grieving... (1 Viewer)

0-4 this weekend. Two money leagues I lost by 5 points in each. One of them was killed by Kupp when up against Lamar. The other was just bad lineup choices, although the top three in season points all lost.

Third year in a row in my long-time dynasty league where I've traded away next year's 1 and 2 for win-now players, only to get bounced in the playoffs because I ran into some bonkers game by my opponent. My flex (Pollard) goes down, allowing my opponent's flex (Spears) to go for 27 freakin points, and I lose by 5.

I personally think people toss around future draft picks like tossing out a used popcicle wrapper. While I always try and win now, I like to play for both now and the future and usually try not to trade my draft picks if possible. I will do it, but it isn't my first option in a dynasty or devy league.

I've taken the opposite approach. I have no qualms about trading a pick, because I've wasted first round picks (across 3 different leagues) on guys like CEH, Burks, Rondale Moore, Ruggs, Pitts, Kendre Miller, and Jonathan Brooks and gotten almost zero return for them. I would rather trade a first for a productive player over taking the gamble on the pick not panning out. But now that I've done it 3 years in a row, I have a team full of guys like Henry and Chubb and Evans and Tyreek and age is about to kill me.

Draft better

Welp Im out of the playoffs. Lost by 10 points. I had jefferson and he had Jones. Fairly late Jefferson catches a nice catch but got tackled at the 1,,,, Jones then carried it in. That 1 play was a 12 point swing. ughhhhh

Wow, it sounds so simple. I'll work on that.

Can I get back to venting and grieving without the judgment now? Thanks.

Not really crowing or grieving right now, just wanting to vent my nervousness for later today.

9 starters per team, we each had one play yesterday. I have 7 today at 1 PM, she has 1 starter at 1 PM. Then 5 at late afternoon, and 2 on Sunday night. Then my DST (Packers) on Monday night. So even if I'm leading by a measly 100 points at 4 PM I can't relax.

Plus I am a Bills fan and she is starting Josh Allen, Khalil Shakir, and Tyler Bass.

Only good thing is by midnight tonight I might know if I am in good shape or not, possibly even have the W banked. But it's gonna be a long evening.

Wasn’t looking for but a Bills Def TD, long Brian Thomas TD and Darnold TD all in in about a 2 min span flipped it for me and the Achane 50 yarder sealed it. Finals here I come!

I’m the 5 seed and I took out the number 1 seed.

This has turned into my most grindy underdog team ever and I’m in the championship against what looks to be the other long shot.

Currently the #6 seed is up on the #2 seed by 5 points and has their TE, Kraft left. #2 has GB defense.

:boxing:

Josh Allen's stinker today took away any shot I had. Seems like he always puts up these types of games in fantasy playoffs. Maybe due to the weather up there.

Ditto.. I did the same! Congrats. Started the year 2-5 and now playing for the title!

I was up by .92. he had Lamb, Ferguson and McMillan. He got that 16 yard catch to go ahead by 1.58. I got 1 put back from McLaughlin. So down .58. Then he got catches by Lamb and Ferguson because the cowboys are morons and threw to kill the game for some reason. I'm down 3.52 with Evans and McLaughlin left. It's set up perfectly for me to some how squeak out a win. Just drive down into FG range and as long as McMillan doesnt get any, TB kicks the game winner over 40 and I win.

Except TB fumbles and My whole season is over. I hate this game

I was down big early. Close to 150 points and I was just hoping to climb within 60 so Baker Mayfield, Bucky Irving and Jalen McMillan could give me a chance in the night game. Then my guys all went off late starting with an unexpected long TD to Jamar Chase then Justin Jefferson, Brock Bowers and George Kittle playing as my suoerflex. The coup de grace was the late 50 yard TD for Devon Achane. Bingo! I had the lead before Tampa even took the field. Final 232 - 162. My first time over 200 points all season.

In my other league I went into the 4:25 games up by two points with James Cook left against Devon Achane. Cook got me out to a big lead then that late 50 yard TD for Achane added 19 points to my opponent but I was up 20. Gave me a heart attack but I held on for the one point win. Thank you James Cook. 121-120.
I was also able to claim Jalen McMillan by dropping Saint D last minute when I realized I was losing the bench points tiebreaker. McMillan got me enough to win the bench points should I somehow lose one point to a stat change.

Semi finals in all 3 of my leagues, 1 re-draft 2 dynasty.

Re-draft - Lost Hurts didn’t start Jamo but tbh I was against the no1 seed and got spanked

Dynasty SF - would have won this if my vaunted QB pairing of Allen and Hurts hadn’t collectively shat the bed. Put up 16 odd points together instead of their usual standard 45+. Probably only needed 30 collectively.

Dynasty non SF - was in bye last week and lost Kamara, Monty and the option of Waddle. Team performed well but of course I faced Deebo who finally went off, whilst I sat him in my SF team.

0/3 semi finals. Ouch.

Total leagues I'm in = 6. I made the finals in 4 of 6 dynasty leagues. Missed 5 of 6 by 4 points. I'm satisfied with that. Technically I could go to 5 of 6 if the Packers score 26 points, but that isn't going to happen. Also, in the same league I would have been in a much better position had I played Abdullah over Warren and Purdy over Rush. I debated the hell out of those and did a lot of swapping back and forth. I chose wrong That would have brought me 14 points closer and I would have only needed 12 points from GB def. Choosing the right lineup is probably the weakest part of my game. All in all I can't be disappointed with the week 16 results.

My 2 semis:
Won by 50 headin to the chip

2 qb league…after the dirty hit knocked hurts out of the game knew I was pretty much done. Probably going to lose by around 20 meaning I’d of won

Count this as a grieve and a brag, for now:
Have Hurts. Conner going against me. Still 33-point favorite.
Got Aubrey'ed (29 points). He has the lead and Kendre, it's over. No back-to-back for me!

I'm on the flip-side of that... Super Toe pushed me out to a 26-pt lead last night. Opponent has Jacobs tonight though so... not comfortable, but I would rather be up big and looking back than the other way around.

Still cant believe last night, was up 6 going into SNF, had Dowdle vs Evans, came out up 1.9 pts, and thats it, no one for either team tonight. I didnt expect Dowdle to have that awful a night, but Evans kinda did too, and certainly didnt see that coming.

Local league up 28 pts, but going against Jacobs tonight. And in another I have Jocobs and E Cooper, down 17. Would love 15-24 pts from Jacobs tonight, any more and it will be uncomfortable.

In one league (PPR/PPFD) I’m up 30 going against Jacobs. Eh…

My opponent in Superflex had Hurts AND Daniels. My team vastly over performed but I slowly watched my lead get washed away by big plays from Achane and Brian Thomas. Still up a smidge headed into tonight versus GB defense… but I was thinking I’d be sitting pretty after Hurts went down.

Incredible! I hope you win all 4.

You're playing 4D chess, my friend.

In 5 leagues and made semifinals in 2 of them. Won both match ups this week to advance to the Championship despite starting Hurts and Josh Allen. Jonathan Taylor carried me in one league with Hurts and Atlanta D, Brian Thomas, Gibbs, JSN, Henry in Allen league.

Highest scoring team all year, no one showed up yesterday. At least if I'm going to lose it wasn't some back breaking close one. I need Juwan Johnson to outscore Tucker Kraft + 2 defenders by 46 points tonight. Essentially if Johnson gets to 100 points I have a shot.

In the other league, I lost three times all season : each time on the last play of a game. First was the Kerby interception earlier in the year. Then it was Jameis' pick to Barton a few weeks ago. This time it was the interception by Jessie Bates last week. Just have to laugh at the absurdity of this game sometimes and say I put together a good squad and things just didn't fall my way.

I made all of the wrong decisions...they were the right ones according to all rankings. But if I had changed any of these I would have won.

Lamar over Goff

Brian Rob Jr. over Bigsby or White

Hockinson over Schultz

No one is going to bench Jackson for Goff or Hockenson for Schultz. The other one however, is very subjective.

Led the league in Points scored and lost the semi-finals because of Drew Lock.
QB: (Darnold 22.1 vs Jackson 20.2) +1.9
RB: (Brown/Irving 28.1 vs B.Robinson/Conner 45.9) -17.8
WR/TE: (Jefferson/Lamb/Nabers 50.7 vs Moore/Metcalfe/Kelce 25.7) +25.0
K: (Boswell 7.1 vs McGlothlin 7.5) -0.4

So, I'm up 8.7 before the defenses. He picks up Atlanta's defense this week and Drew Lock throws more touchdowns to their team than he does for the Giants. And the one he does throw doesn't go to Nabers but to Tyrone Tracy who had never caught a touchdown pass in the NFL until yesterday (it was a heck of a catch though).
Def: (Bills 18.0 vs Falcons 34.0) -16

I lose 133.3 to 126.0. The Falcons' total was the highest for any defense this season and was 10 points higher than their previous high for the year.

4 leagues - 2 pure dynasty, 1 salary cap, 1 contract. Made the playoffs in 2 and lost week 15. Other 2 I am in the :toilet:finals in one and may make it in the other. So 💩is appropriate across the board I guess.

Don't usually vent about this game we play. After almost 20 years of futility in one league where I have had lots and lots of bad luck, where the commish is a bit sleazy (convenient trades for just the player he needed... from his son or wife)... I only remain in the league because my brother plays in it. With a large lead, I was seemingly and finally on my way to the league championship game for the first time... and then Hubbard happened... and JJefferson happened... and yet, I went into Monday's game down by only one point in a PPR league. I had CWatson still to play.... (sigh)

Guy I lost to last week had CD and Chuba beat me by 3.5. then of course this week they're both out. Why couldn't they have been out last week!

Anyway...

The fantasy Gods hated you last week and they hate your last week opponent this week. This is why the Gods laughed when they said, "let men grow hair in their ears as they age".
