Does anyone else have a problem with Walt calling off Todd? He has paid them all handsomely in the past. Why when he tells them to back off and not come, they head out there anyways? I really hated that part of the story. I knwo they had to show up in order to finish the season/series but it seemed cheap how they were written into that scene, doesn't seem real that they would just show up.

Also, $70M and all they bought in a year was a massage chair? They should have had a lot more toys.

That's not true. Having been given coordinates he knew something was up. He didn't know it was money until Walt opened his mouth. Hank calls Walt dumb in that moment because he knew that Walt just gave away all the money he had earned for his family, for no reason, as his death was imminent.

The ricin is certainly believable. It first appeared when, the beginning of season 2? Do people really think that the full run of a TV show is all written at the very beginning?

I would say that the gun is surprising, though.


I also agree with Rude (or whoever) that the ratings for LWS are a little unfair when it is airing at 11:30. It's not terrible for cable at 11:30 on a Sunday. I think that it speaks the show's overall poorness rather than losing the Breaking Bad audience specifically that night.

Gilligan stated that they weren't sure who the Ricin was for? I doubt that. I mean was there even a scene with Lydia where she didn't mention tea? Or did the tea thing come later?

Let's say for the sake of argument that there was some episode earlier in the franchise in which Lydia drank tea. That wouldn't automatically mean that she had to get ricin poisoning. Lots of people have consumed food and beverages in this program. Given all the speculation/WAGs that people were throwing out there as the final season went along, I think it's fair to say that there was no inevitable ricin target.

She didn't just drink tea though. She drank a specific type of tea with Stevia. Who else in the series had that detailed of a drink order? What was Walt's go to drink? What was Hanks?

Who cares? Again, let's say that Lydia drank chamomile tea with Stevia all the time in earlier episodes. All that shows is that she's neurotic and OCD, which is part of her character.

A huge number of people were speculating that Walt was going to take the ricin himself. I think you're looking back now knowing what you know and thinking that the Lydia-ricin thing was inevitable. It wasn't.

I'm not talking about a huge number of people. I am talking about Vince Gilligan. I am stating that I think he knew the ricin was for Lydia from very early on and that stating otherwise is being disingenuous.

I've always assumed that Todd and Jack are literally blood relatives. I'm sure Jack sees Todd as somebody who can eventually take on a leadership role in the organization. If you compare him to Jesse, for example, there's no questions which one has more potential as the leader of a criminal enterprise.

a) Yes, they showed up to kill Jesse and to protect their investment. Walt is a multi-million dollar cash cow. He set up an opportunity for them to kill Jesse. He calls them and obviously something is going wrong. The nazis think that he is in trouble, so they show up to protect him, or at least see what the hell is going on. What else do you really think that they have to do with their time? They were ready to drop DEA agents on the spur of the moment. It's not like they are looking to run from danger in general.

b) Todd is a blood relative, as mentioned above. He has proven that he will kill at the drop of a hat and can cook high quality meth. He brought them Walt, which turned into a great thing for them. Why should they not like him? I don't know how that makes him a prodigal son.
