Breaking Bad on AMC (1 Viewer)

You guys suck.  Last time I share anything here.
I remember the time my brother was working at a hotel where all the NBA All-Stars stayed when the game was in Orlando a few years back.  Shared some tidbits he'd relayed to me after hearing through the grapevine.  Stuff like a player tipping a hotel employee $75 to go out and buy him a box of condoms or Steve Nash refusing to tip anyone, no matter what.  The reaction was so overwhelmingly negative (i.e. "Wow... great info.  Like I care what Steve Nash's tipping policy is.. ") that at least 3-4 times since, I've heard some mildly interesting bits of info and just didn't bother to post them here.  Tough crowd.

I don't know if anybody has watched "Sneaky Pete" but in episode 0104 Cranston gives a speech that is an awful lot like Mike's "Half Measures" speech. Not exactly the same of course, but in it he's a cop who took it easy on a criminal early in his career and somebody ends up dying because of that later.

Did you lamely make people guess rather than just telling the story?  That would have explained an underwhelming response.

Just saw that. I don't recall if Walt erases his final message to his family, but if not that would have been a great postscript for them to find it after his death.

Watching the Sunday replay.   I think this episode is the 1st of Saul.   Such a great character.   I've already watched this series but it has pulled me back in.

There will be a character named Gus introduced down the road. He is a drug kingpin. He will eventually work with Walt, but then Walt will feel threatened by him. Walt will find a way to kill Gus. I believe it will be done using a old man who communicates by ringing a bell. Walt will likely rig the old man's wheelchair to explode while Gus is in close proximity.
I never really watched Breaking Bad when it originally aired.  Caught a couple episodes here and there was all.  The recent Sunday marathons got me hooked and I have been watching on Netflix.  I am currently 1/2 way through season 5, and decided to read through some of this thread to see some of the early commentary and people's thoughts about plot lines.  How in the hell does the post I quoted above make it on page three of this thread dated 5/11/2009?  Did someone send Raider an advanced copy of the script?  Is Raider a time traveler?

 Is Raider a time traveler?
You mean you aren't?! I should think an important man like you, the next White House Communications director as foretold in Mercury's Letter to the Bohemians 3:5-9, "Once Scaramucc does the fandango/Thunderbolt and lightning very very frightening me/ GALILEO!" should have the same powers as all the other FFAppers. Cant figaro it out...decidedly NOT magnifico....

I believe he had a mod use their powers so that it would not be seen to be edited.  I ran into that same post and asked him about it a few years ago.

Editing magic?

Recently re-watched "Salud" for probably the 5th time.  Not sure if this was discussed somewhere in this thread but when Gus takes Jesse to Mexico to show them how to cook Walt's formula why didn't he just take Walt?  Did he not trust him or just wanted him to stay behind to keep operations going?  Seems like a somewhat big risk for little payoff.  I'm not one to nitpick and ultimately it doesn't really make a difference in the series but curious if I missed something that made him take Jesse other than just trust issues and that Jesse was more expendable than Walt at that point.

It's been awhile but I thought they were feeling out the possibility of replacing Walt with Jesse at that point.

Definitely a possibility but I see no downside to him taking Walt on that trip.  Hell, he could have left Walt in Mexico or taken the chance to off him at the cartel hideout.

An example of the show’s brilliance:

s4 e11 Crawl Space

The scene is the desert when Gus rips the bag off Walt’s head and the camera iris simulates the human iris going from pitch black to blinding sun.

Then at the end when Walt realizes they don’t have the money and he’s crying and laughing. The shot looking up at Skyler and the true horror in her face, with the dramatic music, just chilling.

I really appreciate great cinematography and this is probably my favorite thing about this show. It’s why I’ll watch anything Vince Gilligan ever puts out. He’s just at a level movie producers wish they could replicate.

when walt drove over the two dealers in the aztek, shot one in the head & commanded to jesse: "Run" was my single favorite moment

Yep, the end of Crawl Space is on my short list of greatest Breaking Bad moments ever, along with the Lily of the Vally reveal, "Run" and "Tread Lightly."
