Breaking Bad on AMC (1 Viewer)

Text of the articles:

"Feds Move Against White Family. Walter White aka "Heisenberg" still at large.

Left column (was very hard to read until I saw myerrs/thisisnotmeth's link) Deputies? were called to the White family Negra Arroya residence on Saturday night on a report of domestic violence and potential homicide. (This is Walt Jr.'s call.) When they arrived, White had abducted his one year old daughter and fled the scene. Shortly thereafter, White's wife received a threatening phone call from him, which authorities were able to trace to a local fire station - at which they found White's daughter, but no sign of White himself. Known by the DEA as "Heisenberg," the drug lord responsible for the eleven prison murders months ago, Walter White was known in his personal life as a mildmannered family man and cancer survivor. After many years teaching chemistry at a local high school, he and his wife purchased A-1 Carwash on Snowheights Circle. He had no previous criminal record."

Right column: "Skyler White, a former accountant, is accused of helping White launder his drug money through their car wash. Jesse Pinkman, Walt's former student who has long been under watch by the DEA on suspected drug charges is suspected of helping Walt manufacture and sell methamphetamine, a Class C felony. Pinkman is also missing, and presumed on the run."

"Heisenberg's methamphetamine, known on the streets as 'crystal blue,' is a highly pure form of the Schedule I substance. Reports of the unique psychostimulant have been consistent for the past year across the Southwest, through recently the blue meth has appeared in Europe." (This means Walt already knew that the blue meth was still being produced...so that part of the Charlie Rose interview wasn't news to Walt).

"Also reported missing Saturday evening, DEA ASAC Hank Schrader and Special Agent Steve Gomez dissapeared while investigating Walter White. Local Hero Schrader is White's brother-in-law and investigators are unclear what role - if any - he played in these events"

White Family Rackets. Feds Threaten Racketeering Charges.

"The trail has gone cold in the search for drug kingpin Walter White. Two months into the national manhunt...at the DEA have not given up hope especially as Heisenberg's classic blue meth" continues to appear in the Southwest and Europe. Reports of his whereabouts have been called in from thirty-one states, including Alaska, but the notorious "Heisenberg" is still at large. The search is still ongoing for DEA ASAC Hank Schrader and Special Agent Steve Gomez, first reported missing two months ago. Law enforcement from Bernalillo and Valencia are reaching out to surrounding counties to expand the search. Family members of the missing agents have not given up hope, as no bodies have been found." That's all. Also interesting are the pictures of Pinkman, Schrader, and Gomez in the lower left hand corner as well as the articles entitled "White Family Rackets" and "Claim: Wife Knew." which confirm that Skyler is in deep ####.

I don't think the bolded is necessarily true. Walt entered into the deal with Lydia for that distribution.

Interesting. Putting it in the Meth is an intriguing idea if it works
What's the motive there?
Attempt to destroy the empire - kill the consumer base, kill any trust customers had in crystal blue. Normally I'd say this could happen given the scale they like to do things on BB (plane crash), the problem is that tiny capsule is not nearly enough to have an impact, Walt would need to make more of the ricin to contaminate an entire batch.

I understand the attempt the destroy the product/empire, but killing innocents doesn't seem consistent with Walt's character.

Killin' Nazis. I think someone brought up this theory in the thread, of poisoning the batch to kill the cooks. Do we even know if ricin can be ingested via the air? Who's the local ricin expert?
Vince Gilligan was a guest on one of the early Talking Bad episodes this season, and a caller asked him "How many people could be killed with the ricin?" He said that maybe two or three people could be killed if it was dosed correctly.

Walt killed Brock?
You *******!

You could maybe make an argument that Walt would consider killing innocent people based on his reaction to Drew Sharp's death. He never really reprimanded Todd for it, and he was whistling like nothing happened later while cooking with Jesse. Just seemed unphased by it. Maybe it's in him.

Zach Helm, the writer/director of “Magorium” tells TMZ … “Having myself endured the ignominy of watching the Technicolor train-wreck that is ‘Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium’ multiple times every day for over a year, I can attest to it being the perfect Kafka-esque Hell for a character of such moral ambiguity as Walter White.”

I think it ends with Walt having beat his cancer with his homemade chemo. Ends up taking the risin so he doesn't spend his life in jail as the heat closes in.

Rewatching the Pilot: Was the first appearance of Heisenberg when he told Jesse to cook with him or when he went nuts with the bully in the clothing store? Jesse was first and Walt had a very serious look in his eyes

I think when he went crazy at the Car wash and quit, that was still Walt.

Walt just explicitly told Jesse how to make phosphine gas. Hmm...
Todd wears a suit. And they've been cooking meth for months so there's really no reason to have them all in there. And Todd may be a bit of a dope, but he's been cooking this stuff for a while now so he would know when Jesse goes off the grid. That is if he took his suit off. Which he wouldn't do.

SORRY. DENIED.

You're right. Just threw my TV out the window. Won't be needing it anymore.

I'm a dork for this kind of stuff, but there are so many things to pick up.

"Mirror images, the same but opposite...good and bad.."

I know they didn't plan it this well and this way, but it works so well.

I have only seen most of these episodes once, which is actually brilliant. I'm taping the 1st and 2nd seasons and then catching a few more this week, awesome.

Got chills watching preview for final episode. I think it's good they are wrapping this up because there is no reason to mess with perfection. Maybe they could have gone the CSI route and jumped the shark seven times and still made money, but they were smart not to.

One word: Dexter.

They're making the right move.

Dexter got a lot better towards the end IMO, that one also needed to go.

And they use methlymine now instead of red phosphorus etc.

I gave up because it went from Dexter, the Serial Killer to Dexter, the Soap Opera.

Read this elsewhere, the setups of Dramatic Irony (audience and/or character knows something that another character doesn't) in "Ozymandias":

  • Walt knows Hank's his brother-in-law, but the nazi's didn't.
  • Hank knows the Nazi's already decided to kill him, but Walt didn't.
  • Walt knows where Jesse's hiding, but the Nazi's didn't.
  • Walk knew about Jane, but Jesse didn't.
  • Marie knew about Walt's arrest, but Skyler didn't.
  • We know about Hank, but none of the people at the carwash did.
  • Everyone knows about Walt, except for Finn.
  • Jesse knows things that Todd's trying to figure out.
  • We know that Todd's really using Jesse to improve the cook and that Jesse's still very much alive, but Walt doesn't.
  • Walt knows where Hank is, but he's not telling Marie.
  • Walt and Skyler know Skyler's involvement in everything, but the police listening do not.
...By the end of the episode, everyone's knowledge is pretty much equalized, setting up the thrust though to the finale.

Last two seasons were easily the best besides season 1.

Lithgow's season was better.

Todd and Lydia need their own spinoff.

Crazy adventures and hijinks, all of it uncomfortable.
I'd watch that before a show about Saul.Dead serious.

Todd trying to woo Lydia is outstanding.
A part of me hopes those two manage to ride off into the sunset somehow.
No way Opie & bi-polar Betty end well
I bet the Ricin is for Gretchen and Elliot
Walt does his thing and the final scene is him lighting up...fade to black.
