BRETT FAVRE (1 Viewer)

Aaron Rodgers...

We have him...for years to come...and you don't.

You have him...for this year...next year...well, not so sure.

And that'll just be the 2010 offseason......

Choke Vike fans watch out. Favre for years has come into the playoffs hyped up and firing balls all over the field. He was still doing it in 07, we will see how he does this year.

It's hilarious to me that now the Vikings fans are the Favre lovers. He is having a great season. How many impact players on the Vikings did they actually draft? Peterson, Rice, and Kevin Williams? They should just trade all their draft picks and continue to build in free agency. Favre, Berrian, Longwell, Allen, Pat Williams, Hutchinson, Shiancoe, Winfield, etc. They should just sit out and let other teams find the talent they can steal

ahhh how many players on the Yankees roster did they draft. It's called team management, and FA is a big part of putting together a winning team. Some teams do it and win and some teams don't.

Looking for the "this guy's a doofus" sign or button... we need one of those here.

Feel free to ignore that the Vikings drafting has been superior to Green Bay's since the '06 draft. Don't hate just because your team doesn't understand the concept of free agency, which is ironic since without signing Reggie White and trading for Brett Favre they would have had any success since Lombardi fled Green Bay to be the Redskins coach.

I'm not hating, I give them full credit for using free agency. I just stated a fact that they've had mor success in free agency. I don't know how that classifies me as a doufous (who uses that word) I do disagree that they've drafted better than the Packers though

Full credit is saying they should just abandon drafting even though they've drafted 2 of the last 3 offensive ROYs, eh?

Though I don't think Harvin would have won with Jackson at wqb but that's besides the point. Peterson is great but that was a no-brainer pick. I don't know how 6 other teams passed on the guy. Credit to the Vikings for not being the 7th. I like how they've used FA, I wish the Packers did it more.

This is one of the most unintelligent posts I've ever seen here and that's saying a lot. The Vikings were almost as talentless as the Detroit Lions by the time that Red McCombs sold the team because he didn't give two ####s about winning. He was only in it to make money and he made more when he didn't pay stars. In the past three years, the Vikings have turned one of the least talented rosters in the league into one of the most talented. To do that you obviously need some big name FAs and they've signed some good ones and have been very agressive in that aspect. However, you also have to have excellent drafts and the Vikings drafts have been among the best in the league during the new regime as well, and I would take their drafts every time over the Packers drafts in the same time period.

13 if you include Percy Harvin. He is kind of hard to miss.

You live in Alaska, I don't. I'm thankful for that. Please take a pic when Favre ruins your season, it'll be similar to when they shove a camera up your ###.

:goodposting: If you stop and look at it, We have done a very good job of drafting since Chilly came to town:Of the starters listed 10 of the 13 were drafted after Childress came to town.

Lost some respect for him today.
Why. cuz he kicked your butt?
no actually i wanted minny to win. just didn't like tha fact that it was 28-3 with three minutes left in the game and he felt the need to throw for another td. i thought he had more class than that.
I know the score makes it feel like the Dallas D were wearing dresses, but it's a little known fact that they are actually grown men, who at the start of the game wanted to be on the team that had the most points at the end. They didn't. So it goes.

yeah whatever i really don't care didn't have a dog in the fight, but it is going to be really funny when drew brees gives them the gas pedal and the vikings fans complain.

Relax guy. I never said the Vikings weren't run well. My point was that their impact players are mostly free agents, or were drafted by other teams and then acquired. Every team is filled with solid players and I'm not denying the Vikings don't have those. Most teams nowadays lock up their stars. The days of Reggie White being a free agent really don't exist anymore. That was before franchise tags. Most teams draft their best talent and then fill the holes with free agency. Look at Manning, Wayne, Freeney, Clark, Sanders. Their front office has been very shrewd in acquiring or targeting players that have really panned out. There are tons of teams who mortage draft picks or tens of millions of dollars in busts. That's all I'm saying. You Vikings fans must have some sort of inferiority complex. I think I've complemented their front office in every post

You won't be feeling this way soon enough. I'll wait until then to bump this.
Have you been saying that all year or did you just get stupid?
You remember the last time Brett Favre was going to lead his team to a win in a NFC Championship game? (6 1/2 point favorite vs NYG = L) Or the last time Brett Favre was going to lead his team to a win in the Super Bowl? (11 point favorites vs DEN = L)Don't worry, when the Vikings season ends it won't be me that's feeling stupid. Good luck.

   @ Cowboy fans giving lessons about class.
True but also  @ Vikings fans knowing what it takes to win a Super Bowl title. Good luck.

Here is a the highlight package. You'll find the play in question at around the 6:40 mark.Vikings vs. Cowboys Highlights

The Cowboys had just finished using all of their timeouts down by 24 with less that 6 minutes to play. That's fine if you wanna keep going all out, just don't cry when the other team continues to play. I actually lost a lot of respect for Kieth Brooking, a player I held in high regard.

However, the point of posting the link was this: If you watch the play the Cowboys rush 6. There is less than 2 minutes left and you're bringing a big blitz? Good job. Good, aggressive play call. Just don't cry when the Vikings play back at you.

I remember a game I was in where we were up about 30 points on a rival team when our QB threw a 35 yard TD pass in the dying minutes. During the handshakes at the end of the game their HC was pissed and confronted our OC with a "Why the hell did you call that TD pass?" to which our OC responded "Why the hell were you in cover 0?" Point made. Dallas, if you don't want one of the greatest QBs in the history of the game to throw a TD with the game out of reach, DON'T PLAY COVER 0.

Derek Jeter, Andy Pettitte, Jorge Posada, Mariano Rivera, Robinson Cano, Joba Chamberlain, Phil Hughes, Phil Coke, David Robertson, Melky Cabrera and Brett Gardner. Just saying. More than most people think. 11 of the 25 (44%) on the World Series roster ain't bad. But I digress. Favre is awesome, whether he wins next week (and the week after) or not. He's had a great season. I don't like the way he went about it in the preseason, but as a football fan, it was nice to see him be great vs. watching him limp into the sunset.

You're still not helping your case.. AP

Rice

Kevin Williams

EJ Henderson

Greeway

Harvin

All pretty good impact players I would say..

If the Vikings fail to win the Super Bowl, before Brett retires have the vikes gained anything??
I don't think so. I think it's a failure without a trophy.A Superbowl birth would be great, but on Mike and Mike today they illustrated that in the last 3 years we've seen 12 different teams make it to the final four, so parity is exceptional in the NFL. Each season matters now more than ever. You have to take your shot when you have it. If the Vikings do not win the Superbowl, it's still a great season that showed improvement in the passing game, a great season for Favre, shows Shiancoe and Rice are going to be major players in the passing game so long as they get better than below average play from the QB, and Favre is no lock to come back next year so that's a major question mark. The run blocking has let Peterson down, in spite of his increased TDs, his YPC is lower than it should be and teams might be able to keep up the pressure on him next year. Pat Williams is 37 and his play is sliding, the Vikes Run D may not be able to keep tops for long. Who knows how E.J. will respond to the broken leg. There are some things to be hopeful for, but there are just as many things to question for the future.Next year the Vikes could go right back to a losing season, just as the Packers did the season after their NFC Championship appearance. To not win the Superbowl would be a colossal disappointment. I'll cry and you can laugh.
