Was there another RB (other than ADP and Spiller) who averaged 6.0 YPC last season? Because I didn't see one. Only 4 RBs had more receiving yards, and they all had more targets.

We are talking about skill set or production? You can't go by one season. Spiller and Cobb are somewhat one dimensional regardless of their production.

I think Spiller could be a good pick and will probably be a great RB over the next few years. That said, he hasn't showed that he can be a bellweather back over time.

I was just making a point that Laurinitis is not the dynamic type of player that Spiller is. He's an above-average MLB at best IMO. He gets tackle numbers but any starting MLB in a 4-3 will do that.
 
I just want to point out that while you all can see that I am very opinionated on players I do not mean to offend anyone with my commentary. I have great respect for you all and hope you are all having as great a time with this as I am. :popcorn:

Agreed...personally, I would rather see commentary and opinions (as long as its respectful) than a draft where no one is talking.

I said Cobb is not a real life top ten wr. You replied that sure he is because he was 11th in some sites rankings. So I then pointed out Fitz was prob not even in that top ten. Implying don't use 2012 rankings.
 
I will only be awake another hour at the most but I can put a pre-draft in with 8ebok24 if it doesnt get to Dallas in time.

On this team im going offense so Skins select Vernon Davis.

Great receiving TE and great blocker. Very hard nosed football player who imo fits great with Ben and ADP.

I'm not sure using Fitzgerald as your only example to discount a site's rankings is any more logical. These aren't 2012 rankings I'm talking about. These are rankings of players' stats from 2012. Fitzgerald had a bad year in 2012 and you can say that it was because he had terrible QBs. So maybe his 2012 stats aren't an indication of his skill. That does not mean that Cobb's 2012 aren't an indication of his skill, however. Sure, he had a great situation. But anyone who watches his film can see that he is talented. If I'm drafting for the future I would value him highly because he has shown talent and he is very very young. Maybe not top 10 (because I like size in my outside receivers), but if I'm looking for a slot guy or building an offense like the Patriots a few years back that features the slot a lot, he's at the top of my list.
 
3.18 Cardinals select Daryl Washington, MLB

I considered going CB here, but I feel that the recent rule changes have compromised the elite CB and therefore significantly closed the gap between them and the middle level guys. To me, that means that in order to build a truly elite defense in the modern NFL, you must consistently put your opponent in third and long situations, and then be able to pressure QBs on that down. Washington helps me achieve both of these things. With Atkins and Wilkerson controlling the line, Washington will have open lanes to the ball carrier on rushing downs, and, as his nine sacks showed last year, he's very capable of contributing, along with my already potent D-line, to rushing the passer on those critical third downs. His overall versatility in all three phases of defense (run stopping, pass rushing, and pass defending) still keeps my options open on a 4-3 base or a 3-4 base, as I feel Washington would be an outstanding MLB in a 4-3 along with his already proven results as a 3-4 ILB.

3.20 Patriots Select Justin Houston, OLB

I'm torn on this pick. He had an insane pash rushing productivity ranking last year, had about 6 sacks in 6 games the year prior. Some might argue that his productivity in the pass rushing department might be because of Hali, but I don't believe it. I think Houston is an athletic freak and it's more of a JPP/Justin Tuck situation than a Peerless Price/Eric Moulds situation. He's only 24 years old and I think he can play at a very high level for years to come.

1.13 Eli Manning QB

2.20 Jimmy Graham TE

3.20 Justin Houston OLB

Good pick. Was he your original pick or did you change your mind last second? I was going to take him at 3.32. Seems like I keep saying that a lot this round...

 
He was my original pick, the thought process was I could get someone on the same tier as him in round 4. Also, I'm not sure he's played at a high level long enough to warrant a pick in the first few rounds... I guess we'll see in a few years, lol.

I went back and forth a lot on this pick, but Crabtree was the last man standing in my short list of top young receivers.

I think so. He wasn't targetted as much as most #1s normally are. But out of his 118 targets he caught 85 balls. That is a 72% catch rate and higher than any receiver in the league with 100+ targets not named Randall Cobb. So even though his QBs were a (now) journeyman QB and a pseudo-rookie, he was able to catch almost everything thrown his way. When throwing to him, his QBs had a 119.5 QB rating (4th best of all receivers), compared to only 84.9 when throwing to Moss.Unlike Cobb, he had a 6.4 YAC/rec, which is good for 2nd in the league of those with 100+ targets. This tells me he can make plays with the ball in his hands, despite not being known as a burner. Add this to him being a big, strong outside receiver and yeah, I'd say he's elite.
