:goodposting: I appreciate the efforts you went through to grade teams and make some commentary; I think thats what will really make this thread interesting for years to come actually once we all have full rosters. Everyone has their own opinions and way of rating players. Not trying to pile on your grades and hope you didnt take it as such, thanks for sharing. :thumbup:

15.04 Houston selects - Davin Joseph G

Another mauling guard for the run game. Joseph was a pro bowl player in 2011, injury cut his 2012 short but it was early enough that I think he can come back ready this year. Houston is now ready to play ground and pound ball control football.

Great pick. For some reason I had him crossed off on my list. :wall:
 
I thought about snagging Joseph a few rounds ago, if only for his character (2x TB man of the year) and perceived value. I passed mainly because he really hasn't been that great in the last 4 years. He was particularly terrible at run blocking. He hasn't sniffed even a 0 PFF run blocking rating since 2008.

Was surprised he's still here. Given how early a ton of RBs went, it almost immediately became my plan to wait with both of my teams. Lacy fits well with the Broncos, behind a mauling OLine, we'll destroy you on the right side with dives and off tackles, especially with Allen to block. We'll also be able to effectively run play actions with Allen, plus Marshall's experience in short-to-intermediate routes and Schaub's play action numbers (one of the best PA guys in the league)

Not a flashy pick, but this guy knows how to get to the QB. Top 10 in QB hurries and 8+ sacks the last two seasons.

At this point, about as good a pick as we'll see. I do wonder about the bolded though, can't help but think he benefits immensely from the guy on the opposite side.

I think that this guy can have a VERY nice few seasons to close out his career if he is not counted upon to be "the guy" like he has been in San Diego for the past few seasons.Big difference from that crap he has to work with there to my team which has Vincent Jackson (glad to see you again Antonio) and Justin Hunter at my wideout spots. Plus Chris Johnson in the backfield is better than any RB he has worked with since LaDanian was in his prime.

The only issue I'd have with this pick is that your offensive line is going to need help and Gates can't really help with blocking. I'm sure he'd be really great for short passes though since VJax/Hunter seem to be more suited for the deep routes and Romo won't have much time to throw.

Both of my tackles will be fine, so Gates would not be able to help the Guards/Center block anyway. :mellow:

Has Robert Turner ever played center? I'm not being sracastic here as I really am not sure. For the Jets he was listed as an OG but really only saw playing time at TE - basically as an extra offensive lineman on short yardage and clock killing formations.

Pass Block

Robert Turner’s (6'4", 308 pounds, six seasons) strength is in his versatility. The center/guard played major minutes for St. Louis in 2012 at both positions. Playing both guard and center, Turner showed good presence in his pass sets and has a quick get-off from his stance. He’s patient, which allows him to pick his spots and not overextend to defenders.

Run Block

Turner’s patience in the pass game oftentimes shows up in the run game, and that’s not a positive. He has a bad habit of standing up out of his stance, which makes gaining leverage in the run game tricky. If he can gain leverage, Turner can be very good at moving the pile upfield. Otherwise, he’s limited to angle blocking and sealing off for backside cuts.

Overall

76/100

Turner has promise as a center or guard in the Rams’ future based on a very strong 2012. If he can get his pad level down in the run game and continue his excellent pass-blocking trends, Turner will be moving up our list next spring.

I'd disagree with this (at Wayne's current age, not if he was in his prime), but then again I've long thought that Bowe was one of the more over-rated WRs in the league and I think Nelson is probably one of the more under-rated WRs in the league.

He started nine games at center in 2012.

:grumble: he's been on my short list for a long time now, kept passing on him expecting him to fall further because he's not a starter. Really liked the idea of setting him up with Champ Bailey and Xavier Rhodes this round.
