Build a FRANCHISE draft (2 Viewers)

15.32 Saints select Dwight Freeney, DE

16.1 Saints select Kendall Reyes, DT

I'm rounding out my front 4 with players who can attack the quarterback. It's a passing league now and I'm building my team to be able to pass and stop the pass.

Saints

Offense

QB Aaron Rodgers 1.1

WR Dwayne Bowe 8.1

WR Pierre Garcon 10.1

WR Reggie Wayne 12.1

LT Bryan Bulaga 7.32

LG Kory Lichtensteiger 13.32

C Will Montgomery 9.32

RG Chris Chester 11.32

Defense

DE Michael Bennett 5.32

DT Jason Hatcher 14.1

DT Kendall Reyes 15.32

DE Dwight Freeney 16.1

MLB Bobby Wagner 4.1

CB Lardarius Webb 2.32

CB Chris Harris Jr. 6.1

FS Eric Weddle 3.32

Ever think you're absolutely taking a guy, then when you're one pick away you notice a player who hasn't been taken and can't figure out why? That's where I'm at right now, actually itching to pick.

:goodposting: Happened with me and Reggie Wayne at 11/12 turn. I was all set to pick somebody else but felt I had to take Wayne.

Patriots select Darren Sproles
I didn't have a chance to comment on this pick. I built the team with the passing attack in mind. When I first drafted Eli, I commented on his pocket presence and that this would allow me to not need to draft the league's best offensive line. The plan is to run an Andy Reid offense (I mean that in the sense that we will anger fans with our lack of a running game, but will use short passes to the wide receivers in lieu of a running game). I want short screens to substitute for the running attack at times and I'll probably draft a running back later to fill the role of the other current Saints' running backs. Sproles isn't the world's best run blocker (not even close), but the hope is that the threat of the screen pass will help with pass protection. I'm not sure if I want to use him or Desean Jackson on punt returns - maybe none to avoid injury. But at least we have the option for desperation fourth quarter punt returns.

16.04 Mason Foster, LB

Might not be elite, but he's pretty good and improving. Good character, good teammate, can play Middle or Strong. Just hope the other guy I was all set to take drops.

16.6 Bears - Stevan Ridley, RB
I've been wondering when he'd go. I would have taken him rounds ago if I didn't have RBs already. Great pick and shame on every team who slept on him.
Searched twice to make sure he was still available; I was surprised. Ideal size, powerful, physical with enough speed. I've got a good line in front of him so I think I'll be able to run the ball.

yep. was all set to take him for the Titans this round. Would have taken him for Detroit if not for Wilson already in hand. Probably should have taken him instead of Mallett or, but :kicksrock:

It's a good pick relative to where other RBs went but there is still plenty of value out there for RBs. We're still at the point of the draft there are still solid players left at other positions with more scarcity. Saints don't plan on taking a RB for a while still.

I considered Ryans or Tulloch last round, but thought having a dynamic player like Sproles was more important.

I debated between him and S. Jax for probably longer than a human should.........Went with S Jax because I feel he will explode in Atlanta and is more physically gifted even though older.

Ridley is a great back and good value .

So I just took a few minutes and looked at the teams that are being displayed on the separate sheets. Wanted to just praise a few.

Best D - I think hands down its the Cards. That line is ridiculous.

Best O - Tough one, but I think as a complete offense I might take the 49ers. Eric Fisher panning out is the key.

As for the most well balanced, complete team, excluding my Bears team to remain impartial (who I would pick), I kind of like the Patriots. They should be able to score some points. I like the tackles. Interior will be weak though. On D they should def get to the qb. Williams needs to pan out to sure up the run D. Briggs is still really good.

Good insights. After starting with Wilkerson/Atkins, I wish the Cardinals drafted for a 4-3. Geno/Wilkerson on the interior in a 4-3 would be nasty and I think Atkins is most optimally used in a 4-3.

Hands down the Cards ? If.you personally prefer the Cards then fine but the Chargers that I am building should definitely be in the conversation.

I think my Chiefs should be in the conversation too but I can't tell if it's my own bias that overrates my players. :PI also think my Saints have a top 5 offense and an above average defense at least but again I can't tell if it's owner bias or not.

Lots of talent, but some big question marks. How would Aldon play with his hand on the ground? How would Timmons be in a position he has not played? Will both 2nd year corners pan out?

I've agreed and then disagreed with this several times over throughout this draft. I think all three of my linemen are talented and versatile enough to play in either scheme, and I think Kerrigan could play DE or OLB (and of course there are other DE/OLB still available). At this point I'm thinking I might be looking at a 4-3 under scheme with Kerrigan at RE, Atkins, DT, Lotulelei NT, and Wilkerson LE. RBM, thanks! I kind of have to agree with Wu-banger... the use of "hands down" might be a little much. I could easily see a debate between the Cards, Rams, Chargers, Falcons, and Chiefs.

Chiefs D was def in the top tier.Saints? I don't care how impressive your passing game is...imo you have to be able to run the ball. No rb and I don't like your line.

I understand the line comment, but considering I didn't address it until late, I think I managed to get an adequate, cheap OL who will perform well enough. I can understand disagreeing with that though. I honestly wish I had used my second round pick on a LT instead of Webb but I didn't anticipate OL going as quickly as it did. As for runningback, I feel like I can still do way better than the committee GB had last year and in years past. There are still a number of solid players out there. No bellcows who will do everything themselves, but plenty of good players who fulfill a specific role.

Thank you.I wasn't going to include the Chargers in my top tier - I think Rams/Cards/Falcons are the clear top tier. Chargers are next best for me though.

I think my Rams are still the most flexible defense - 3 corners, 2 of which have shown to perform well on the outside, and then one who was a rookie. Plus I can still move McCourty to FS, I can move to a 3-4 hybrid look at times, and I've got a fairly solid nickel package as well already.

Of course I am biased, but I have to think that my Colts Defense can play with anyone as well.Cameron Wake

Jonathan Hankins

Michael Johnson

Sean Weatherspoon

Curtis Lofton

Joe Haden

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie

Chris Clemons

Still need a 2nd DT, 2nd OLB, FS and Nickle Corner, but my pieces in place already are perfect for the 4-3 defense I plan to run.
