Starting to really like having to go to a liquor store only if I want to buy liquor. Jesus.

We have a Smart & Final directly behind our neighborhood where we do 50%+ of our grocery shopping. They have basically everything we'd ever need, except for stuff like shampoo, toothpaste, laundry detergent, etc. (I mean, they have it... but it's usually super expensive).

Anyways, they have a decent liquor selection and their prices are WAYYY better than liquor stores. They do have a locked case for the premium stuff, but I don't need any of that

I think at this point supermarkets should go full on online ordering and pickup. No need to stock shelves or man registers, everyone employed is just filling orders and passing them out. Hell you could even have a drive through setup. Point is, if the whole store is focused on filling orders, it would be much easier and faster to use online shopping.

Yes people who aren’t internet savvy will suffer but those folks are pretty much ready to move into the rest home anyway and the 99% of us will be much better off.

Only downside is not being able to pick your own produce. Not sure how to work that out.

Yeah, this isn't an insignificant hurdle to overcome - just ask my wife. She did Fred Meyer's curbside or whatever it's called once. ONCE. She was furious at their produce selection, to the point she complained. Can't remember why she did this - Covid maybe? I don't know, but she was livid.

I'm guessing it depends on the store you are shopping from. We've been using HEB delivery for about seven years now. (I was an early adapter.) We rarely get incorrect stuff. Three times in seven years seems like a good record. And the error is easily corrected by calling the help line. An actual human takes care of the issue. Even the produse has been good.

I like shopping online. I can browse all the stuff without dealing with anyone. And I can shop at one in the morning. It's like being back in college.

The only problem I have is that I have no idea how to get green bananas. The ripe ones are not my thing.

Please re-input your credit card number. Oh, and then it's like playing inventory roulette with getting exactly what you want dropped into your trunk or delivered.

Rather just go spend 30 minutes at a store and get what I need *AND* impulse buy.

No, people at stores don't bother me at all, but they really seem to annoy some of the peevish here.

I have never used an app for this. I'm at home, in a comfy chair, on my computer. I have never had to log in again, or had the program crash, or had to re-imput my CC.

We no longer have to figure out a good time to go the store. And Christmas was a nightmare. Mr R is VERY allergic to Christmas trees.

Grocery shopping used to be kind of fun. I love to cook so you’d think I’d love shopping for ingredients.

The problem is the grocery stores have made the experience significantly worse by reducing staff so there are never enough checkers and there are workers constantly blocking aisles restocking things during shopping hours now instead of off hours.

This is compounded by other shoppers who are slow and get in everyone’s way or bringing their whiny kids, etc.

Hey, I am retired. I need something to do, so I go to several grocery stores every week to shop the deals.

Oh yeah international places can be weird. I think it's Singapore maybe that you don't go through security until you're at the gate? So like lounges, shopping, etc are all in the airport and every gate like when it's time to get boarding ready the security people pop over and turn on the metal detectors and stuff.

Yeah, snoozing in a shared bed is unacceptable. My wife, who is otherwise extremely considerate, does it too, but earplugs make it a non-issue.

Resetting the alarm to go off again is a first since I usually don't bother with her clock, and she's usually in bed to deal with it. Excessive use of snooze is not a first but I'm usually up before her alarm goes off.

Wife set her ancient clock radio alarm for 0600. Guess she had some trouble sleeping so she went to the guest room. At 0600 the alarm goes off so I get up and go around to her side and turn it off. As I'm getting back into bed she comes in, apologizes for the alarm, sets the alarm again and gets in bed. 1 minute (not kidding) later the alarm goes off and she hits snooze. Then she's back to snoring a minute later. I got up and left.

Still not certain what you're asking but I'll take a stab that it's about her sleeping trouble. That's a years long thing and she's tried different things to combat it. Zzzquil, shot of tequlla, cbd, etc. all to varying effectiveness. Seems to run in her family I guess. We shared a hotel room with her sister years ago and the snoring from her would have woken the dead. And her brother just did a sleep study.

I was shopping there once. It took 5+ minutes for someone to show up after I hit the little "how can we help you" button and the guy was like "hey, what can I do for you?". They knew I was calling from that aisle, you'd think the guy would know I wanted the case opened up... but the guy didn't even have the key. He said "be right back!" and I told him "nah, nevermind". Ugh.

Exact same thing happened to me at a Wallmart. I was able to locate an employee close by before hitting the button. They said they needed to get the key and would be right back. 10 minutes later......nobody. So I hit the button. 10 minutes later some other employee shows up. I tell them what I needed and they said, Oh I don't have that key and they left saying they would be right back. At this point it was the principle of the thing and I was going to wait just to see how long this was going to keep taking.

Another employee wanders by and I ask them for the key. They say they would go find it. The middle person came back and said they can't find the key. About 10 more minutes go by. I am at about 30-40 minutes standing and waiting. My now I am just laughing. Finally, someone shows up with the key. I get the bottle I wanted and go to the checkout. Of course there is only one checkout line with a person checking out so I go to the self checkout. Of course, since I am getting alcohol I can't just check out. I need a person to come by and confirm I am of age. After about 5 minutes of waiting for that person I just go in the checkout line and wait another 15 mintues to get through that line.

All told I was there for about an hour and 15 minutes to get one bottle of booze. Never again will I go back there even if it is cheaper. Just ridiculous.

I agree, but I operate under the belief that at least 50% of the population is ignorant to common sense rules, ie driving slow in the left hand lane, entering an elevator before letting folks exit and yes, camping on the moving sidewalk when there are signs that CLEARLY state "WALK LEFT, STAND RIGHT" over all of them. Once you accept that, it's easier to simply say "HEY ON YOUR LEFT" and go about your business.
