Can we discuss pet peeves here? (6 Viewers)

Open layout homes.

You can't watch TV after the kids go to bed and have a conversation without them overhearing and the only solution is to put doors and make super short ugly hallways.

WTF architects, you as an entire industry suck at your jobs and ruined a generation of housing.

do the bedrooms have doors?

Cheap modern lightweight doors with gaps between bottom and the carpet.

Are you under contract to have to keep those doors?

My wife noticed this morning that in the communications that our town has sent out regarding water restrictions during the drought, they've indicated that while you aren't allowed to wash your own car because of the water shortage, you are encouraged to visit a car wash if your car needs cleaning.

I'm going to guess that the car wash uses substantially more water to wash my car than I do.

Think its because some(most?) carwashes reuse the water from each wash.

Interesting. Did not know that.

For facebook users:
If someone sends you a friend request, someone you've seen online and know but didn't feel the need to connect with, is it your obligation to message them after accepting or should they after you accept?
This has happened twice recently. I didn't feel the need to send them a friend request but they sent me one and I accepted. There's no "hey, how are you doing?" Nothing. I'd be fine having a conversation but don't feel the need to start one up. If I send a friend request, I always thank them for accepting and have a quick back and forth to catch up. Or sometimes just "thanks for accepting, hope all is well" and not expect a reply.

Yes, the water is recycled.

Absolutely no reason you should feel obligated to start a conversation. Probably no obligation on their part either, but if anyone has an obligation it would be them, since they initiated things. You did your part by accepting their invation.

Agreed. Being mid 40s married with 2 kids, my new FB friends are few and far between as my family and social circle is pretty much set at this point. I won't start a convo unless I have something non-chitchat specific to say, but happy to respond if they want to check in with me, even though I tend to lose interest very swiftly.

I don't remember the last time I sent a friend request. Its been years.

I'm a friend request slut and get made fun of it, appropriately. But I'm also thin-skinned and get my feelings hurt if people don't accept right away, so if those invites linger for more than a week or so, I take them back.

God, I'm a petty little man.
Do you have a lawn we should be avoiding?

lol, I think I have about 40 FB friend requests just sitting there for me to hit accept. I just don't care.

No, I want everybody on my lawn!!! That's the problem. Then when I waive them over and they ignore me, I sulk.

Is this therapy?

Do we need an intervention here ?

been said, but I'll say it again

using the terms "prolly" and "sammies" ...just completely grosses me out - and I see people using these like it's the cool thing to say

possibly worse than "besties" and "fur babies" and that is pretty ****in' low
man fur babies...

I've had pets. I've now had a baby.

They're not the same.
But they could be. It depends on what part of the world you are from.

Small local bakery/coffee shop. Very busy with people dining in and waiting for ro go orders. Dude sitting at the biggest table in the place waiting on his to go coffee as people look for a place to sit and eat their food that they ordered for here. Plenty of spots to wait for your coffee..:why take up the table spaces when its clearly busy on a Saturday morning

I might have…but was already seated enjoying my coffee and breakfast sandwich.

People who decorate for Christmas before Thanksgiving.
My neighbor has a simple but effective system. October is Halloween decorations, November inflatable turkey, December is Christmas. Takes down the Christmas stuff on New Years Day.
This is exactly how it should be.
I say forget the inflatable turkey and extend the Christmas stuff another week to get in the full 12 days to the Epiphany.

We talked about this last night - in the vast majority of years, Christmas decorations could go up Friday, but this year is about the latest Thanksgiving can possibly be so people are thrown off a bit.
