had Milwaukee sports radio on because they were live reporting the various FA signings throughout the day. they are just regular old sports talk radio guys, but maybe dialed to 3 out of 10 on the hot take, loud mouthery. it's not my favorite but i wanted to hear what was going on vs. internet surfing.
but the fans.. the fans who call in... the dregs of society by and large. just the dumbest people. and i know this, which is why i mostly avoid these caller-centric sports radio shows.. but i'm still stunned every time.
one guy goes on and on about how the Packers should sign Garrett (already signed), Metcalf (already traded to the Steelers), Davante Adams (already a Ram), etc. and he's just flabbergasted that the Packers GM won't throw 300 million dollars at each one of them, and/or trade the bottom of their roster and some kicking tees for the 10 best free agents.. because, of course, the GM is just the dumbest, clearest league plant trying to sabotage the team since Ted Thompson plied his wares here.
then they break news that the Packers sign someone mid-call and the guy is just blown away by how terrible this guy, who he admittedly has never heard of, is because he's suddenly making too much money.. way more than a football player that doesn't walk backwards to the salt mines every to put in his 28 hour day ever deserves. all these players are spoiled, overpaid, etc. but if he were GM he'd break the bank to get the best players and win Super Bowl after Super Bowl... and he doesn't understand why the Packers don't just do what he's mad that they just did.
it's so mind-bendingly fascinating and frustrating all at once.
tuned in for about an hour of passive listening and had to tap out.
