Cavalier Crypto 101 (1 Viewer)

I'm in for three shares on the horse as well.

Funky Munky Stable seems to be an easy way in.   Also, can we keep the horse at GM's?

I know very little about investing in general, and I know pretty much nothing about cryptocurrency other than bits of info gleaned from skimming this thread.   I got an email promoting an educational event from Glenn Beck and Teeka Tiwari on cyptocurrency.   They appear to be pointing towards a huge upswing in the market in the near future.  My first thought was "it's Glenn Beck promoting some nonsense...just delete it and ignore".  But then I open this thread and see some of the dialogue from the past few weeks (ren hoek, jon_mx, Jersey...) which seems to be pretty bullish on the future.  Maybe this is a good time to educate myself and jump in the game.  I was thinking of registering for this Beck/Tiwari program, but that may have too much "spin" integrated.  Who's got the "explain it like I am a fifth grader" resource to tap into for cryptocurrency basics?

ETA...alright, been reading and getting basics from this site.

I don’t mean to rain on the parade but that paper was funded by eToro, which appears to be a new exchange for crypto coming soon. It’s akin to an advertisement not a real research study.

Also, this is from a Forbes contributor not Forbes itself. Sorry, even the title is a bit misleading almost like some big entity is backing bitcoin that wasn’t known before.

Honestly I can’t give you any real advice except don’t waste a dime on this garbage. The theory behind it is good and it will be legitimized one day but it’s all crap for now.

In general you are right most of it is crap.  But there will be huge winners.  Debt-based Fiat currency has inherent flaws which is unsupportable once populations stop growing.  Crypto has a future and governments which embrace it will be winners while ones which try to stop it will be losers.

Yeah and Keanu Reeves will be carry messages in his head too. Sorry, but when you guys talk about global currencies going away you sound like doomsday preppers. Once populations stop growing? At that point the stock market is worthless. It’s inherent growth that drives future earnings growth so that overall it goes up.

Just do the opposite of what fantasycurse42 says

Teeka is very respected.  His Palm Beach report is pretty highly esteemed.  If I could be a ghost in that room I would go.

Glenn Beck is a total grifter, so I'd probably chalk up their association to some sort of dysfunction on Teeka's part, but not crypto related.  But still, it can't be bad for the space if the Becks of the world are bringing fox news boomers into crypto.

There's a lot of places to find information, and almost all of them will shill you relentlessly on whatever flavor of the month.  It was this picture of Jun Hasegawa holding a skateboard with an Apple sticker on it that convinced me I need to spend a thousand dollars on omisego because they had an unannounced partnership with Apple.  It was hard not to see dollar signs everywhere you looked in the summer of 17.  PS I think Omise/Plasma will deliver tx throughput to the ethereum network and eth will get an ETF.

Anyway here's some good places to get information (in my opinion):

/biz/ - only reason I ever heard of Brave/BAT

https://www.reddit.com/r/BATProject/

https://www.reddit.com/r/ethtrader/

https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/

https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/ - lot of shilling here, but good source for general news most of the time

Our crypto general thread

And of course, our discord: https://discord.gg/u589KE6

I’m waiting until we actually owe money.
I just saw this on the facebooks and thought of you.  :lmao:

Funny how all the whiners and complainers promote the hell out of crypto when it's doing good, and totally bash it when it's doing bad. If you can't enjoy the rollercoaster ride through the ups and downs, then don't get on in the first place. Go back to complaining about your neighbors music being too loud, or how your Viagra only works half the time. ....So you lost some money on crypto huh? Awww Poor baby. Here's a #### shaped pacifier for you to suck on. Nobody cares.

Your post was made at perfect time.  Many alts up 50%+ since your post.  Some of them 100-200% gains.
It is finally looking like a real bounce.   Crypto has a future.  A bubble popping is can is an opportunity, but still a long rocky road a head.  Lots of people (traditional/central banks) want crypto to fail.  My $$$ put in the last few weeks look a heck of a lot better than the $$$ I put in earlier in the year.

It's worked fine for me the last few times I've used it, including last night. Sometimes the error codes come up because too many people are trying to get that data from a zillion different sites.
