CB Richard Sherman (3 Viewers)

That interception was a pick 6 by Sherman.

In the 2 games since this thread has been made.

The Seahawks are 1 - 1 and if not for a horrible INT by Schaub it could be 0 - 2

They have also allowed 2 receivers to go over 100 yards receiving, Andre Johnson, T.Y. Hilton. I am not saying I believe in jinxing your favorite team but...

I know it was, but it is a ball that shouldn't have been thrown in my opinion.

Ok, wouldn't you say MOST passes that resulted in interceptions were passes that SHOULDN'T have been thrown then?

That is a generic statement.

I don't mind the play call, they are trying to get a first down and force the Seahawks to use their last 2 timeouts and the 2 minute warning. However, if that play is called you tell Schaub that if he is pressured or it isn't open to just take the sack, or give yourself up. I have no idea if the coaching staff said that or if Schaub just got scared and threw it up. Even with the sack the Seahawks have to use a timeout and with about 2:30 left they have to drive 80 + yards to tie the game.

Sherman knew what play they were running as soon as the WR went in motion. You can see him telling Chsncellor to stay with his blitz and don't buy the fake. And he motions Thomas to stay deep. Sherm used hours of film study to diagnose this play and made sure the Hawks D was in the best position to defend it. Yeah Schaub shouldn't have thrown it, but he had pressure on him and a DB right in the right spot to pick it off because of the D's prep work forcing a mistake on a critical play. You can't take that away from the D.

I am not taking it away. He made a great play but I am saying it was more the fault of Schaub. However he did throw it and there was a play to be made by Sherman and he made the play and they won the game. That is why I said they were 1 - 1 since this post was made and ALMOST 0 - 2 if not for a horrible INT by Schaub.

This game tells me that the AFC South is pretty strong this year. This gives me hope as a Colts fan that we might do something this year.

The what if/should have argument is so weak...

Seahawks get back on track this weekend, I feel sorry for the Titans.
I feel sorry for the Seahawk fans that thought that this was going to be a walk and now have a sore sphincter.
There's a very, very short list of fans that thought that way.
the Seahawks defense gave up 2 field goals, no touchdowns, 66 yards rushing and 157 yards passing, and had two interceptions.

They could have played better on 3rd down, but I don't think any team would be dissatisfied with that kind of prodiction from their D.

Yeah, I was speaking to the general concept that seems pervasive on this board that Seahawks fans are the ones predicting a SB win en masse.Third downs, on both sides if the ball, continue to be an albatross.

These Superbowl bound seahawks needed another lucky bounce (see fumble return for TD) to steal another game. It has been a year of lucky bounces with DeAngelo fumbling in game 1, Schaub throwing a dumb pick 6 and now this for the Seahawks to steal wins. Sure, they are just going to coast to a SB win. :lmao:

Seems like a pattern. I dunno, maybe their defense is designed to force mistakes and cause turnovers. Titans wouldn't even have been ahead and would've been in a pretty good hole if not for a very lucky play that went their way, but I guess your analysis only applies to one play per game, and only when it's against Seattle.

They exist in this thread and surely are mad bro.
ITS counts as one, not "they. There are far more anti-Seattle fans being idiots fishing for an emotional reaction like you, sweetness, and beef. He thinks he's clever starting sentences with ITS. He's not.

Well late in the game, Brown about tossed a fumble to wilson.

The Titans play good D. Marshawn wore them down some, kudos to him, but I thought it was their line moreso(chicken or egg maybe). The O-line won that game IMO, they were running real well own field when Wilson took off too and not all linemen do that. The Hawks were too much in the fourth, but the Titans D did a good job til then. The Titans offense stinks. I wouldn't give Sherman any more credit than all the other DBs that shut them down because they can't pass.

I take it you didn't watch the game. Seattle physically dominated the Titans all game, they just weren't able to separate on the scoreboard due to some very weird fluky plays. Tennessee was extremely fortunate to be within one score. They didn't leave Seattle thinking they should have won that game, they were just simply beaten.

This has to be easily the worst title to a thread EVER! Can't it just be deleted, guessing someone say 15 yrs old or younger came up with it.

Titans were winning. They didn't look great til late.

Sherman has 7 interceptions in the last 10 ten games. This thread will never die.
Ya but the thread was has your fantasy receiver on lock down, he could have 5 picks next week but if Fitzgerald goes off for 100 and a touchdown then he really didn't lock him down.

Titans were only winning because of one boneheaded play by a backup holder. The Seahawks D had the titans totally contained. Only Seattle miscues in the red zone kept the Titans in it.

Fitz 2 catches for 17 yards discuss.

Sherman did get the crap knocked out of him by Fitz...
Yeah but Fitz lightened up on him. Could've legally nailed Sherm a lot longer. But Sherm was very rarely against Fitz. They were moving him all over the place to try and free him up. At one time he went about 6 or 7 plays being covered by a LB. I certainly wouldn't say that Sherm locked down Firz, he couldn't even get the ball when Bruce Irvin was covering him.

The Seahawks are now 2 out of 7 when it comes to shutting down top receivers. That's good, I suppose.

The best thing about Schaub's pass was the announcer's description of the pass - Schaub's hot air balloon was intercepted.

On the other hand, Rod Woodson thinks he's top two.

Seattle has the #2 pass defense in the entire league. What are you talking about?
Your comment does nothing to disprove his. You understand that, right?
Let's make sure we have "top receivers" defined correctly. For example, the Colts have Reggie Wayne, T.Y. Hilton, and everyone else. The top receiver here is Reggie Wayne. Hilton had 140+ yards but that means zero in the context we're discussing here. So let's walk down this lane, shall we?

Panthers

Top Receiver: Steve Smith

Catches/Yards/TDs: 6/51/1

Discuss: The TD is good but otherwise 51 yards is not good for your #1 receiver.

Verdict: Shut down

49ers

Top Receiver: Going into the game everyone considered it to be Anquan Boldin

Catches/Yards/TDs: 1/7/0

Discuss: Nobody on the 49ers caught for over 40 yards

Verdict: Shut down

Jaguars

Top Receiver: With Blackmon suspended it was Cecil Shorts

Catches/Yards/TDs: 8/143/0

Discuss: He had 24 yards on 3 catches half way through the 3rd quarter when Seattle pulled a large majority of their starters from the game. He ended with good numbers in garbage time against the 2s and 3s.

Verdict: Shut down until the fringe NFL players came in

Texans

Top Receiver: Andre Johnson

Catches/Yards/TDs: 9/110/0

Discuss: Nothing to discuss, this was Andre Johnson being an elite player in the NFL. For the record, as far as I can tell he was 3/50/0 against Sherman.

Verdict: Not shut down.

Colts

Top Receiver: Reggie Wayne

Catches/Yards/TDs: 6/65/0

Discuss: TY Hilton had 5/140/0 but Wayne didn't have a good game.

Verdict: Shut down.

Titans and Cardinals

I'll cut right to the chase and say nobody on either team had over 70 yards receiving and only 1 TD was caught--by Jaron Brown (who I have no idea who that is).

Verdicts: Shut down.

So how exactly are we saying this is 2 of 7?

Look, I don't want to really get into this and I'm certain various folks will refute this by trying to get specific on what Sherman allowed vs. the rest of the team. I'll tell you right now, I'm simply not going to even try to determine this because I don't have the games recorded nor do I want to spend the time continuing to argue this. But you guys are really searching hard on this one.

I will go ahead and say this does.

:goodposting:

sherman will be voted all pro this year, and it is deserved...

the premise of the thread didn't account for the fact that sherman reportedly* doesn't routinely follow the top WR wherever they go (for years, reggie wayne always lined up on one side, but i don't think that is the norm these days)... hopefully people don't base their decision on this point...

there may be OTHER reasons to avoid the situation, but that isn't one of them, in cases where opposition's top WR lines up on different sides (unless they line up appreciably more on sherman's side?)...

* discussed earlier in the thread.
