It does not follow.seriously, it took four posts to completely remove whats his name from the subject matter. Chad Ochocinco knows whats up, hes an entertainer and is one of the great elements in the NFL today.Favre is a d-bag and should be mocked more. The post of the clueless football fan. Favre has one of the best if not best statistical seasons of his career at 39-40 and he's a d-bag for waffling about playing since about 33-35 years old. Most QB's can't get to 35 and post a good year. He posted a great year at 40.
Just curious - can you name those celebs for me? (Don't make me google it please.)Lots of stupidity in this thread. The bottom line is that Favre gets no where near the negative press coverage for his famewhoring antics and need for attention that Ochocinco does. The venom directed towards Ochocinco, who has never held out, never been arrested, and never dogged it in games, is amazing. All because he likes to have fun, enjoys being the center of attention, and pokes fun as his opponents. And you guys criticizing him for changing his name for marketing purposes (or, as some stated, greed), I ask if you've heard of any of the following people:Allen Konigsberg Vincent Damon Furnier Caryn Johnson Terry Jean Bollette Gordon Sumner Marion Michael MorrisonCelebrities change their names all the time to become more marketable. Calling it dishonoring the family name is moronic.
I am as big an Ocho fan as anyone but didn't he hold out a couple years ago? Even if he did big freaking deal.Lots of stupidity in this thread. The bottom line is that Favre gets no where near the negative press coverage for his famewhoring antics and need for attention that Ochocinco does. It sure would have been easier if Favre hadn't sent a text msg to teammates saying he was retiring though, wouldn't it?The past 2 times Farve "retired" he held a press conference... and then came back; that was total BS.
This time it feels every forced by the media and even Farve came out and said he'll play if his ankle is good enough to handle it. If anybody should get blasted its ESPN, they went nutz over a text message.
You're right, but it's pretty much America's religion too. Chad isn't so different from most Americans. We care (apparently) more about Lindsey Lohan going to jail (and no doubt launching a "come back") and Britney Spears flashing her cootchie, and Brangelina and their kids, than we do about anything really important like tax policy, foreign policy, education, etc. Even out political leaders are chosen for fame and money (Ronald Reagan and Gov. Schwarzenegger launched their political careers largely by virtue of fame for example). Fame and money is what America is all about so it is hard to fault Ochocinco IMHO.It was all about money and fame....which is Chad's religion.Big difference in someone taking a name for religous reasons compared to being named after the number 85 in a different language.Do you still use Lou Alcinder and Cassius Clay regularly?"His momma named him Clay, I'm gonna call him Clay."To me he will always be Chad Johnson.I think you meant Ochocinco.
And he's right.
Yes. Having a great year does not make him exempt from acting in a professional manner. watWhat problems has Chad had that he's had to lie his way out of? Infiltrate, dominate, and control the mass media? lol wtf are you smoking. So Chads goal right now is to make all the youth in the world greedy? How is Chad even greedy? He has never held out because of his contract. And he probably does more for the fans on a personal level than any other player in the NFL or any other sport. If you follow his twitter at all you'd know that he does a ton for the fans in Cincy and even the fans when the Bengals are playing on the road. He is constantly announcing where he is going out to eat for the night and tells everyone to come join him and the first xxx amount of people are eating on him. Or having a movie night where he buys 100 or so tickets to a movie and gives them out to the first 100 people to go watch the movie with him. Multiple times he held contests and chose several winners that he would fly to Cinci for the weekend to hang out with him and then take them to the game, all of their traveling/hotel expenses were on him. He did the same thing for like 5 people during his time on Dancing With The Stars too. When the Bengals were in danger of a blackout last year because of lack of ticket sales, Chad was the one who made sure those tickets were bought and then he gave them away to prevent the black out.Maybe I'm biased because I like Chad, but how exactly is someone who does all of that greedy?Totally agree about "Ochocinco". I try to avoid blanket statements and broad generalizations, but I propose that it took no time at all for Ocho to succumb to the demons of greed and wealth. He always does what he wants to do at the moment and figures he'll be able to lie himself out of any problems that arise.Griping about Ocho will not make him stop trying to infiltrate and then dominate and control the mass media. But even if it did, he would just find some other way to push his "me me me" agenda. If Ocho is victorious in his quest to destroy our youths' ability to grow beyond the temptations of greed and idiocy, then his crown will be the funeral wreath of humanity.
I don't think he held out, but he didn't want to play for the Bengals anymore and was threatening to holdout. But when training camp started, I think he was there.I am as big an Ocho fan as anyone but didn't he hold out a couple years ago? Even if he did big freaking deal.Lots of stupidity in this thread. The bottom line is that Favre gets no where near the negative press coverage for his famewhoring antics and need for attention that Ochocinco does. I thought Ochocinco was.Because he's addicted to the attention. No different than Favre really. Back to the OP's topic, though. Even if this is some orchestrated attempt by Cook to squeeze more money from the Vikings, there is little doubt in my mind that Favre loves the buzz about whether or not he's retiring and that he loves having people begging him to come back and save them. That's why he's so bitter towards the GB front office. They decided to stop playing his little messianic reindeer game and roll with someone else. I'm critical of many NFL players over their sense of self-entitlement, but I think Favre may be the worst. He's no idiot, he knows how the media works. He doesn't do or say anything to anyone outside his circle without a reason for doing it. If people would realize his corn-fed, simple man personna in no way disqualifies him from being a shrewd, calculating manipulator, they'd be better off...and he'd catch more flack for what he pulls. Johnson is right.Johnson is his slave nameIt's about rejecting the foundation of greed and wealth that he bases his entire existence on. His birth name is Johnson and he lets his idiocy and lust for attention dishonor his family name.I honestly had to think about who Chad Johnson was.How long does he have to keep his legal name as Ochocinco before JohnnyU will accept it? The logic of referring to him as "Johnson" seems to have a poor foundation.
Well other than the teary eyed press conferences, skipping of training camps, and quitting on not one but two NFL franchises.I thought Ochocinco was.Because he's addicted to the attention. Brett hates training camp - as is well documentedthis year, though, he has an additional incentive to delay his start of the season until after the NO game so he does not get abused and knocked out for the season in game 1.his ankle will heal miraculously just in time for game 2Where's this coming from? The list of guys who haven't made fun of Favre's indecisiveness is shorter than those who have. The guy just has a hard time deciding whether or not to retire. The media is already making way too big of a deal out of it.
You hear many of the analysts blasting on Favre. I wouldn't say he just goes along with no criticism and isn't called a diva on a regular basis. The way I have looked at it is this: He wants to come back, but isn't sure if his ankle is going to be ready. If there were no ankle problems he would be in a purple uniform, but since the ankle is not healing as planned that is why the "merry-go-round" has started.
But that would end the streak. Can't have that now. Brett, for all his faults is one tough SOB, the New Orleans defense won't scare him. Not to keep hijacking, but Enders is on the money about OchoCinco. But the Ocho haters don't want to hear it. ....watWhat problems has Chad had that he's had to lie his way out of? :XI think Ochocinco's just upset he didn't think of it first.
There's a sale at Penny's!Favre and Johnson are the same breed of corrupt greed tyrant. He will not miss a game and sacrafice his precious ego-fueled streak. As for the claim that Johnson is some sort of humanitarian, I can say with confidence that Johnson knows very well that performing an occasional act of charity will make some people forgive—or at least overlook—all of his stuck-up excesses.
I totally agree; it makes no sense. I think at least part of this disparity can be explained by the fact that Chad is a black guy with gold teeth, whereas Favre looks like a corn-fed good ole southern boy. Someone in this thread referred to him as a "lunch pail kinda guy." I guess that means that, because he has a southern accent and does Wrangler commercials, he's a swell, hard-working guy? I think a lot of white people take one look at a guy like Chad and dislike him, whether they are aware of it on a conscious level or not. Also, another example of Favre's attention whore diva behavior that does not get enough attention in these discussions is when he released pics of his ankle after the NFC Championship game.super sleeper said:The venom directed towards Ochocinco, who has never held out, never been arrested, and never dogged it in games, is amazing. He does more things like this directly for the fans than any other player in the league. He's a great ambassador for the Bengals and the NFL.Enders said:How is Chad even greedy?
