*** Chargers at Niners *** (1 Viewer)

Looking at the decision patterns of current 49er management, what is likely to happen is Eric Johnson will outperform Davis this year, and be traded or cut next year with the logic "you don't draft a TE with the #6 pick to sit on the bench." Then Davis and Smith can suck together for all of 2007, at which point Nolan will be fired. As with Detroit, the problem is that you can't fire owners.
Brilliant post. Fire Nolan, he's as dumb as a rock! :lmao:
Uh, isn't this exactly what happened?
Link me to the Nolan firing. Thanks.
The prediction was he'd get fired at the end of 2007.
:confused:LOL at calling someone out without even understanding what he said in the first place.

can't say it's the worst bump in history, because jvwdvcwvcdw opens the bottom 20 spots in that department, but it's pretty bad

QUOTE(CalBear @ Sep 1 2006, 08:17 PM) Prediction: All the people who were pimping Gore over Barlow last year will switch to pimping Robinson over Gore by week 6 this year.

It's tough being the starting RB on the worst team in the league.

Smith was awful in 2006; the fact that he was in the Ryan Leaf zone in 2005 doesn't mean that a bottom-10 QB performance in 2006 indicates great things to come. At most, he'll move up from awful to bad in 2007.

Oh, and SF had a good TE, but he's now playing for New Orleans. Now they have a Ricky Dudley wannabe.
It makes no sense for the team with the #26 offense and #26 defense and holes all over the place to give up three early picks to get one player. Which probably means the Niners will do it.
He certainly improved from his first season, which was the worst QB season since Ryan Leaf. His second season got nearly up to Joey Harrington status.

His second-half split for 2006:

154/278, 1365 yards (170 per game), 6.4 ypa, 7 TD, 9 INT. Only one 200-yard game (where he went 12/29 with 2 INT, and got a garbage time TD in a blowout loss).

He had a couple fluky games early in the season which inflated his overall stats from "horrendous" to "bad". He was still #28 in the league in QB points per game, and regressed over the course of the season.
Uh, who considered him a #2 QB with big upside before?

He sucks and will continue to suck.
The impact specifically of Turner leaving won't be known until his replacement is hired. Most replacements will be less likely to feed one player as much as Turner did, but on the other hand, it's not like there's talent anywhere else on the Niners. Gore will still get a lot of touches.
Yes, Davis played in only 10 games. He caught only 20 passes in those games, and dropped, what, 7 or 8? Is that what you're looking for out of your first-round draft pick?

What, exactly, was wrong with my Peterson take? I said he was the best defensive player the Niners had and they should have kept him. They let him go due to their pigheadishness, and, surprise!, their defense sucked and Peterson went to the Pro Bowl.

I don't root for any pro team. I root for my fantasy team.
What was ridiculous? Predicting that the Niner defense, Niner offense, Alex Smith, and Vernon Davis all would suck? Exactly what did I get wrong there? (For those keeping score: #26, #26, suck, suck).
Maybe it's just me, but I consider it rude to constantly go around and bash a particular team, especially when most of the insults are not even valid. I wouldn't think of running around and posting this much crap about any particular team with the intent of fishing.

First of all, your post was unreadable.Second, yes it's just you. CalBear has earned a lot of respect on these boards, at least in my opinion. No offense, but you haven't. If you want to do that, you need to work on making positive contributions to the forum, not calling someone out incorrectly.

I don't doubt that CalBear has earned respect on the boards, I don't read every thread. The only threads I've seen him post in are 49er threads, probaly because I look at those more than any other and all I see from him is taking shots at the 49ers. Hopefully someday after being around for a while I'll earn the same respect from you.

No, its not just him.

It's just CalBore's opinion, even though he doesn't know what he's talking about.

If by respect you pretty much do the opposite of whatever he's spouting, then yes he's much respected. And his main point was CalBear saying Gore would suck and be replaced, 49ers have no talent, and they'll fire Nolan. Which by all accounts, the 49ers look to be heading in the right direction, and almost made the playoffs last year. And Nolan is no where close to being fired.

Clearly you don't spend a lot of time in Niners threads. CalBear either doesn't know jack about the 49ers or he's great at :jawdrop: .
