**** Chargers Interminable Thread - Because No One Demanded It **** (2 Viewers)

Saw on bolts from the blue from a poster there:

"Ja'Sir Taylor was traded to the Jets for a 2028 7th round pick."

Can't believe they got something for that guy.

On the one hand, I agree. On the other hand, getting a 2028 7th round pick is roughly equivalent to getting a ham sandwich...

Its actually a conditional ham sandwich. Not sure what the conditions are. Still more than he's worth and he's not wasting a spot in the organization anymore. Now if they could do that with Fisk, Matlock, and Bozeman...

I disagree on Fisk. With Slater and Alt unavailable due to injury, Fisk is probably the best run blocker remaining on the roster. He is also the reserve long snapper and probably would have done a better job than Lovato if the team had used him in that role.

You have a point about the long snapping. At this point it feels like saying someone is the best run blocker on the chargers is analogous to saying someone is the best chef at a del taco franchise. I don't recall thinking Fisk made a positive impact on a play, but do recall thinking he made a negative impact on a play. I'd like to see someone better take that role and that roster spot.

Mmmmm. Love del taco.

I used to also. then my son and I got food poisoning from their food a few years ago. Haven't gone back since.

No disrespect to Del Taco, but how bout them Bolts?

If Slater and Alt were healthy, they may be Super Bowl contenders. DL is much improved (Caldwell should be 1st team all rookie Defense) and the corners are playing fantastic football.

Vidal is the RB2 for the next few years. WR depth is best I’ve ever seen.

EDGE and OL early and often next year in the draft and free agency, and this team is set.

Good win, I don't think Pittsburgh is that good, but the Chargers owned that game, even with the refs calling a Steelers friendly game.

Its enough with Deculus already. That should be Salyers job or the new guy from here on out.

Vidal has been a pleasant surprise, I didn't know he had the kind of power he showed Sunday.

It sucks to think of what might have been if the starting tackles could stay healthy. It sure would be noce to see what Herbert could do with a decent line in front of him.

I agree on all this, except I doubt Caldwell will make the all rookie defensive team unless he surges big time down the stretch.

The Athletic chose a midseason all rookie team on 11/5, and Caldwell was one of 11 honorable mentions after the top 2 selections, Deone Walker and Derrick Harmon. Mason Graham (CLE) and Elijah Roberts (TB) were also honorable mentions who IMO would also be ahead of Caldwell as of today. All that said, Caldwell is having a good rookie season, and I'm happy the Chargers have him.

I expect you are right that he will likely be with the Chargers through the 2027 season. He has been a pleasant surprise for sure.

He would be even more likely to stick on the active roster if he contributed on special teams, but he really hasn't through ~1.5 seasons (6 snaps last season, 13 snaps this season). I guess it makes sense that they would not have risked him on special teams this season, since most of his active roster time has been with Hampton (and Harris) out.

EDGE and OL early and often next year in the draft and free agency, and this team is set.

Agree.
