Chicago at Green Bay game thread (1 Viewer)

Remember all those trade rumors about Cobb.  GB glad they didn't trade him I am guessing.

Thought that's why we fired Fox.  Then the new "offensive" coach goes and does the same damn thing.
I think it was Trubisky more than Nagy.  He just kept checking down to the RBs or running for 2 yards instead of looking for the open guys downfield.  I doubt those were the designed reads on those plays.

On that 3rd and 1 when they settled for the FG, Cohen had a fat LB on him that he dusted into the corner of the endzone and Trubisky saw it, but had no interest in throwing the ball more than 1 yard beyond the LoS.  GB could have lined all 11 guys up across the first down line and Nagy could have called all go routes and Trubisky would never have seen the guys running free behind the defense.

I repeat: after going for it on 4th & 3 at their own 37 earlier in the game.

What the actual f.
Just incredible. I couldn’t believe it when I saw they FG kicker run out there. Maybe if John Fox or Lovie Smith or some other guy stuck in the 70s was the coach but not that guy.

Meanwhile, somewhere in the Bay Area, Chucky is silently smiling
Why? Mack had a MONSTER game - strip sack / DFR, and a pick 6.

With a boatload of pressures and fumbles & knocked Rodgers out for a half.

he watched a generational talent who single handedly took over a half of football, who won’t be playing for the Raiders on MNF.

Because the Bears lost, sure, Chucky gets a slightly higher pick. Maybe a good player. Maybe a great one.

But nothing they pick in 2019 or 2020 gives him what he lost in Mack.

Not to mention a 2nd and a 5th going back to Chicago.

Someone could bump flaps posts and have a good time.

Kudos to the D after that first drive they settled in.  Definitely wasn’t a Capers vanilla coverage D on that last drive.
King, Jackson and Alexander have all made some plays in coverage. I think all 3 of them are good players and they looked it tonight,

Mitch also did not play very well and receivers were not getting open enough for him.

Why are they pushing it 20 yards down the field when they need 1st downs?
I agree, seems to me they should have dumped the ball off short to Cohen a couple of more times.....maybe throughout the entire game, not just the the first quarter. Howard looked great but when you have a player like Cohen got to get in his hands a few more times.

I get that Rodgers played well being clearly injured, but the Bears going into the 4 Corners offense most the 2nd half gave the Pack a chance. Playing not to lose usually doesn’t work.

Wow, the bears sell the farm to get Mack, get a 20 point lead, and can’t hold it.  Them they let a one legged Rogers beat them.  Mack did his best where’s Waldo impression in the second half.  New bear defense same as the old bear defense!
To be fair, it’s not like Trubisky gave the defense a lot of time to rest.

Bears defense gave up 400 yards, and lost. They could have done that pretty easily without trading for and paying Mack...
And Chucky smiling because why? He gave up the guy that was a beast tonight and the reason Chicago was even in that game.

“open” in the NFL is a small window and Mitch didn’t look like he (yet?) has the touch or confidence to hit those “NFL open” guys.
I agree. Some players were getting open, but Mitch couldn't find them.

I dunno its weird. Mitch looked very good at the beginning of the game running scripted plays that they have likely practiced a ton recently. But then just seemed to go into a shell and not willing to push the ball downfield. Too afraid of turning the ball over I guess.

Now if only the back up had not yacked the ball up to forfeit a sure field goal and had not served up a T.D. to Mack.  No matter.  Hell, even Matthews stupid play does not matter now.

Same old Bears. Same Bears coach.
I understand the post game impulse to post this, but the Bears are absolutely legit.  They have a young QB, a slew of pieces learning to play together, a first time head coach, and they were playing a 1st ballot Hall of Famer on the road...and barely lost.  Yes, to lose in the way the Bears fell is heartwrentching, but this Chicago Bears team is not the same old, same old.

Ecstatic to pull out that victory, but the Bears have the look of a very good team to me.

Obviously they scored too fast. Boneheaded play by Cobb.

Lots of time to drive the field.

You never leave 2:00 on the clck when you're facing the Mitch.

They don't call him touchdown trubisky for nothing
So just to be clear, how much time is too much time to leave on the clock for Trubisky?
You should calibrate your sarcasm meter.

I think the bears have the best defense in football, and the Packers have no balance on offense.

Rodgers is in for a world of pain and he has very few options at WR and no running game to help him out. The Packers D was atrocious last year and I don't expect much improvement.

Final score: bears 45, Packers 17.

Edit: I think the bears have this game locked up, but I don't want to see any injuries. Say what you will about Rodgers, the league is still more fun with him playing each week.
I won’t bump a lot...but I’m pretty sure this guy has been making this same prediction for several years now.

“What was the injury.”

<pause>

”... my knee!”

:lmao:
I tried telling everyone at halftime that it was all just a ploy by Rodgers to create some drama and build suspense for a great comeback.  Getting Kizer in on it to throw Mack a TD took some serious balls.

### #### that 3rd and 1 call. Worse than the WR screen to Earl Bennett in 2010. Then the decision to kick a meaningless FG right after. Andy Reid Jr.

I'm sure the thinking was kick the FG, then they need a TD to beat them. Otherwise, go for it and not make it, the Packers only need a FG to tie

I can't believe nagy didn't think Rodgers wouldn't drive the field for a TD to win the game. It happens every single time. Kicking the field goal was pointless

@Dr. Dan

What do you think happened to Rodgers knee?
I watched the play over and over on my yahoo app... I cant find a good angle but his L knee was bent when he got hit. was a weird position to be in.

I'm fairly confident he hurt his MCL. the question is did he twist on that as he fell to the ground/was hit. if so, possible meniscal injury. could also put the ACL at risk.

I expect Rodgers to have a brace on all season

“MCL (medial collateral ligament) injury. An injury usually occurring after impact to the outside of the knee, causing the MCL to stretch or tear. The MC ligament attaches to the femur (thigh bone) and tibia (shinbone).
Recovery Time: A minor, or grade 1, MCL tear can take from a few days to a week and a half to heal sufficiently for you to return to normal activities, including sports. A grade 2 tear can take from two to four weeks to heal. A grade 3 tear usually takes from four to eight weeks to heal, unless it is associated with damage to the ACL, in which case the recovery time may be longer”

My total unprofessional Guess is we are looking at a grade 1 or possibly 2 MCL.

Brace fo sho, and chance he misses a week or three after closer look by docs. Hopefully no more than that.

Big winner tonight is the Vikings. Huge favorite to win the division after this.

IMO, theres minimal chance Rodgers sits. Not after Kizers performance.

He will sit put all week and suit up Sunday unless it's a high grade tear that needs surgery, which is unlikely; no way you let him go back if it's a high grade tear... risk for a devastating injury is too great. but, I wasnt in the locker room so who knows
