***Chicago Bears Thread*** Ben Johnson hired. The Resurrection Begins! (3 Viewers)

So far a decent draft a bit of a surprise on some of the picks but feels like they are adding a lot of value. I was happy to see them add in the trenches bolster the offensive Playmakers and get an early 4th. Would have liked Landmass over Turner but Turner has rep for durability and has potential to get after the QB but we need to stuff the run. It has to be RB today? I loved Rollins trolling the Packers fans. All in the spirit of a rivalry

Rollins is a national treasure. He should announce every Bears pick.

Ok, I've looked at everything with fresh eyes this morning (meaning I'm not 3 bourbons deep) and I still don't like this draft at all. No aggression. I'm reading now that Loveland was a panic pick because, literally, the two o-lineman and McMillan were the next three players on their board.
Burden is , what, the 4th or 5th best wr in what is considered a very weak class. Green or Will Johnson should have been the pick.
Ozzy and Turner fit needs, but I had guys way ahead of them. Green absolutely was one of them.
Overall I think this draft is a C grade right now. Just disappointed I guess as to what could have been.
While I understand your POV, I'm not in agreement. First, I find it hard to believe that Poles and crew only had 3 or 4 guys queued up for pick #10. He strikes me as someone who's too type A to let that happen. I don't love the Loveland pick, but I get it. He's a Ben Johnson kinda guy and if he's a push vs Kmet NOW, then he has the potential to be a top 5ish TE. I absolutely love getting Luther Burden III on the team, though. He's a need based pick because we were incredibly thin at WR and he's a slot specialist. He also has a Deebo-esque ability to work the trick plays. I had hoped that Egbuka would fall instead, but I had both very close in grade. Ozzy and Turner are both motor guys who fill needs. I wouldn't be surprised if Ozzy pushes Brax for the starting LT spot. At worst, he becomes the swing tackle and learns both LT and RT. Kinda the same for Turner. I expect Turner to push and learn from Grady Jarret this season and be ready to fill the starting position in a year or two.

No, there aren't any swing for the fences picks right now because honestly the Bears can't afford a terrible miss in the 1st or 2nd rounds. Teams like PHI have the luxury to make those picks because they have a solid team from top to bottom already.

I like Dylan Sampson here in the 4th.

Id be ok with Skattebo, Neal or Giddens in the 4th. Heard a rumor at one point that Bieniemy likes Giddens.

Handful of guys I'd like in the 5th as well if we don't go RB in the 4th

Yeah, I think Sampson or Skattebo will be our next pick. I've been seeing rumors we like Sampson better, but who knows at this point.

Puzzling on that trade down. What was the point of trading down with the Bills if not for a high quality 4th round pick? It must have been Poles turn to man the joy stick

Im guessing they wanted more picks for the new staff to get players that fit their systems.

RBs are going, but still some quality names left.
I hope so I lost track of best available
Devin Neal, DJ Giddens, and Dylan Sampson are left. After that, seems like mostly scraps.

Happy with all three of those names.

Bears reported to like brashard Smith.

Im ok with taking a swing on Ollie Gordon or Donovan Edwards late in the draft.

RB class is very deep I expect Bears to add someone soon. Still happy they didn't add 1 of the more heralded guys and Swift should live on in some fashion for 1 more year.

Ruben Hyppolite a special teamer
Faster replacement for sandborn?
Possibly - He is a sideline, sideline, speed type of guy who has an instinct for being durable and a big motor, but he has technical gaps. Definitely needs to skill up in areas but ESPN has him as a 4 star recruit
I don't like this one, but I'll withhold judgement. His scouting report is pretty bad outside of speed.

Agree - hate the trade down actually preferred to never have traded w Bills. Could have had Johnson or Landon Jax

It's almost ... almost ...... Here me out, here, okay ...... ALMOST like the Bears don't think D'Andre Swift is a horrible football player. I know, I know ... it sounds crazy.

I like Swift, but I think the RB room is below average as a whole. Roschon isn't very dynamic and Swift doesn't run between the tackles well. A third horse in the stable is needed for a playoff push.

Also, don't worry, I've got a plucked crow in the fridge and the oven on preheat. Devin Neal is still out there.

Henderson going at 38 must been a giant gut punch.

169 Ollie Gordon. 10 months ago he was ranked considerably higher than Jeanty. Obviously, he had a terrible year in 2024, but the Okie State Coach was clueless. He did play better late in the season.

Sit tight, crow, we're still good!

OL Luke Newman another athletic player who wasn't particularly good in college and didn't make the top 300 prospects on the Consensus Board. 5th year senior, played 4 years at Holy Cross then 1 at Michigan State. Taking shots on that kind of player is much more reasonable at 195 than it was at 132.
