***Chicago Cubs Thread*** (1 Viewer)

Anyone use the park & shuttle at the Rockwell remote lot? I'd normally take the bus, but in-laws are in town and we have a big group, so was thinking of trying this option tonight.

nope never have, but i would bet its your best option with a big group like that

I was at the game. He smoked that ball. No doubt, right off the bat. And from my vantage point it looked like it was going to hit the jumbotron and smash right through it. Serious power.

With this particular series going on I'm seeing a lot of analysts mentioning they like the Mets' way of rebuilding a franchise better than the Cubs', which is fine, but none of them seem to acknowledge the arm injury risk with pitching.

The Mets have already suffered a down season without Harvey. Now they're missing Wheeler. The Tampa Bay Rays are another example of a team building through pitching that is getting crushed by injuries. Tommy John. Torn labrums. When these guys blow their arms out they're gone for a year+. I don't see how you can count on pitching being there for you long term.

The Cubs are stacking an every day lineup, and they're going to buy pitching. Most likely David Price this offseason. Time will tell I guess.

Mets have Rafael Montero on the DL, too.

Mets are off to a fine start, but I just can't see that weak lineup winning more games than the Cubs this season, no matter how good their pitching is.

Does anyone think there's a little rift between Castro and Coghlan? I could just be imagining things, but whenever there's a fly ball between them Castro calls him off to take it, and then seems to glare out into left like "wtf are you doing?" after throwing the ball back in. I feel like I've seen it a couple times.

Then I noticed Arrieta looking out there also after getting the ball back and kind of shaking his head.

Come on, Jorge. Make an adjustment. Jesus.
What an awful at bat. He was swinging at that 3rd strike no matter where it was.
He's not even reading the pitch. Full on "I'm going deep regardless of situation" swing mode every at bat.
It was interesting watching Coghlan have the at-bat Soler could have had. Familia's entire approach was to throw out of the zone and induce swings. I think between Coghlan and Soler, he threw one pitch in the zone. Right before the last pitch I was thinking "for christs sake, Coghlan, you have to be taking all the way here." Sure enough, Familia threw another one in the dirt.

OF Billy McKinney promoted to AA after hitting .340 in high A with 17 walks and only 13 K's. came over with addison russel from oakland. only 20 years old. that trade looks so good after getting hammel back this offseason and the way samardzija has pitched so far

Full Disclosure: a certain Mets fan is so intolerable, I actually spent the week rooting for the Cubs.

Going to love watching that team crash and burn this year.

watching the replay of the game on csn and saw rizzo grimacing after he got to 3rd on Bryant's RBI single in the 5th. Anything come out after the game of a possible injury? JD also mentioned on the broadcast it looked like something was bothering rizzo

All those HBPs, maybe. Guy probably looks like Frankie Knuckles beat him with a sack of oranges.
