When Hendricks hits his spots like he did last night, he's hard to get solid contact off of. Very Maddux-like

He did look great last night.

Has anyone else noticed that Chris Coghlan chews his gum like he's angry at it? Guy is gonna hit the DL with TMJ if he doesn't chill out.

I thought this last night too, and then realized how crazy I was. Tough comparison to lay on the kid. I thoroughly enjoy watching him pitch though. He's a nice change of pace to the flame throwers who can never find the plate.

Sidenote: I know Maddon is preaching patience with Soler, but the kid looks lost up there at times. He can't even touch 92 right now. I think he has to keep running him out there as the other options aren't interesting. Hopefully he can get something going soon.

2.5 behind the Cards

Didn't get to watch last night but saw Strop finished her off after the Cubs put 3 on the board in the 9th

Great win, took advantage of a few lucky breaks (Escobar picked off in 9th and the error by Desmond) but a fun game to watch.

I've been so impressed with Fowler. Gets on base. 11 steals. Has hit for some power with 16 extra base hits. Defense has been at least adequate. He hasn't been a liability there as so many had suggested he would be. I wish he was signed for more than just this season.

What the hell was Escobar thinking? First he almost runs into an out after inexplicably making a turn at second base after his steal, then not two pitches later he wanders way off the bag and gets caught. He's a relatively speedy guy, so I don't understand what he was thinking. He almost certainly scores on a single. That blockhead definitely helped the Cubs out.
