***Chicago Cubs Thread*** (3 Viewers)

Kris Bryant.

It's going to be a loooong three or four weeks in April while he's in AAA.
Smart move by the Cubs. Trade a few early weeks in a young career for a full season at the end. Boros is already whining.

Who has Baez in the gobbler? :championship:
Is this guy going to make the team?
I don't think he should. He's a mess.
He's the best middle infielder defensively, but it's tough to have a below mendoza line hitting K machine in your lineup every day. Platoon him against lefties only?

If he's in the lineup every day I'm going to hate him. Can't stand the K's.

I'm fine with Alcantara and La Stella at second until he figures it out. Baez needs to go down and mash for a while before coming back. He hasn't hit a lick since Triple A last year, and he was striking out 30% of the time even there.. Garbage in the majors, the Puerto Rican league, and now Spring Training since then.

Any idea what the Cubs are going to do with the No. 5 spot in the first week of the season? I need to know if Arrieta is going to start twice in Week 1. TIA.

FWIW, Jesse Rodgers tweeted,(Per Maddon) They are most likely going with 5 starters from the start, despite off days.

Who's making the rotation after Lester, Arrieta, Hammel? Hendricks hasn't pitched much. Wood has been just ok. Jackson has been awful.

Hendricks and Wood is my guess. I think the fiasco of missing his ST start last week will keep Jackson out of the rotation for now. Before that, it looked like they might go with a rotating 5th starter of Wood/Jackson.

The "Lester can't throw to the bases" thing didn't bother me when they signed him, but I hope he gets it corrected soon. At least he was quick to the plate with runners on.

It's just so weird. Is he just stubborn? Mental block?
He has the yips. Did AL teams just not run on him? I don't recall it being a story last year. It's going to cost him and the Cubs a lot of runs.
No ones worse than Garza. Last year he sailed a throw to 1B on a comebacker to the mound about 10 rows into the stands.

I'm liking what I'm seeing so far. Especially with Rizzo/Soler struggling a bit out of the gate and Bryant counting down the days.

Interested to see how Lester fares in start two tonight.
