***Chicago Cubs Thread*** (4 Viewers)

Pirates 4, Cubs 2.

The Cubs would be pretty dumb to start Lester in a play in game against the Pirates. They'd run all over him.
And all their best hitters are righties anyway. Arrieta would get that start and it would be an easy call for Maddon.
This too. Good point.
Also if the game is in PNC, I'm not sure how the fans would be able to get into Arrieta's head (a la CUE-TO chants from a few years ago).

I wasn't listening to the broadcast, but I imagine there were about a million Bartman mentions? I noticed immediately how the crowd moved out of his way to let him make the play.

Lester threw to first. You'll never believe what happened next.
The two hopper after fielding a bunt was cute too.

At some point guys are just going to start taking off as soon as he toes the rubber. Segura took third like that yesterday. Lester just let him go. Embarrassing.

Lester should develop super-sprinting speed and try to pick people off by running over to the base.

Or maybe throw two-handed underhand pickoff throws. Worked for Shaq sort of.

Ooh, or drop-kick it!

are there stats on how many times lester's given up 3rd? at least when someone's on first the runner has to somewhat be held close by the possibility of a catcher's snap-throw.

Apparently Lester worked on pickoff moves today. It might actually work in the Cubs favor if he spends the entire season baiting teams into running on him at will and then reveals a decent move in a playoff game.

Schwarber can rake, but he's a DH. So bad at catcher that fantasy :nerd: say he might not have catcher eligibility beyond '16. Could leave him LF, can't be worse than Matt Holliday amiright?

Too bad this didn't go to extra innings, was really hoping to see Kris Bryant strike out two more times.
I'm not impressed so far.
They called him up too soon.
He belongs in the bigs, but he isn't special yet. His defense is fine and the power is obvious against mediocre pitching, but he makes way too many easy outs right now. It took Bryce Harper two full seasons to figure it out too.

Once Kris, and Soler for that matter too, learn to start spitting on the junk outside the zone they'll be monsters. Easy to say of course. Some guys never figure that out.

Schwarber on the other hand. Super impressive. He has plenty of swing and miss to his game too, but he's making a ridiculous amount of hard contact.

Oh I was kidding.

W

Arrieta generating Cy Young chatter. Rizzo and Schwarber making the beast with two bats. Bare-chested Cogs heating up. Addison Russell looking like a professional hitter. Fowler fair. Bryant boats. Rondon and on and on.
