Chris Henry arrested again (1 Viewer)

I guess we want the NFL to turn into the NBA. Yes, this is minor, but he has had multiple chances. If it stays a traffic violation, great, let it go. But since he is on probatation he should really tow the line.

I live in Cincinnati, and it is no more racist than any other city. He was not wearing a seatbelt, which is enough for a police officer to pull someone over in Ohio. (I believe, not a cop, so don't quote me)

As a Bengal fan, I don't want him on our team. Anyway, I posted this as a heads up on another Chris Henry incident. Not a bashing thread.

Trying to keep everyone up on the news on the Cincinnati Bengals since I live here, and this won't get mainstream media unless he violates his probation because of it.
:tinfoilhat: Have you ever lived in another city? Listen, I am a huge Bengals/Reds fan, but I don't go to that town for a reason.EDIT: I am not saying that it is just the white people there. Let's face it, the different races just don't like each other that much. A lot of it probably has to do with the Covington border and the history of slaves defecting from the South.

I have lived in Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Danbury, CT, Charleston, SC, Columbus, OH and Charlotte. It is not a black/white thing in Cincinnati. Downtown has gone downhill, which is why I stay in my suburb unless going to a sporting event. Northern Kentucky, Newport in particular, is where the downtown money is going.I just don't like when people give people an excuse as well the cops are just racist. That is horsecrap. Maybe they are, know one knows but that cop, but if you aren't wearing your seatbelt and you get pulled over for violating a seatbelt law and it is a reason for a police officer to pull you over in Ohio, it is your own fault.

It doesn't help that Chris Henry's license plate is "SLIM-15" which I am sure alot of the cops know in Cincinnati. Slim is what Chad and TJ call him, and if I was a sports figure, I would want to be low key when driving in town. But we all know Chris and the rest of the Bengals like the limelight.

If you don't see the similarities in all of those cities are far a race-relations go, there's nothing I can tell you.

Ok, I'll humor you, even though I don't agree. Let's assume the cops are out to get the Bengals because they get a raise for each Bengals they arrest.

Maybe Chris Henry should buckle his seatbelt for starters so they have no cause to pull him over. If you don't want to get in trouble, or you are on probation, you should tow the line.

On a side note, a coworker just said he read on an article yesterday that PacMan and Chris Henry were roommates at West Virginia.

Bottom line, it is probably not newsworthy, but this "minor incident" could violate his probation and he gets suspended or jail time.

Henry

The Bengals on Tuesday issued a statement in response to reports involving wide receiver Chris Henry. Last week Henry, who has been arrested four times, was cited for three traffic violations last week while driving on Vine Street in Cincinnati last Wednesday afternoon: driving with a suspended license and without a seat belt and failing to signal. He posted a $100 bond.

“While the incident involved a minor traffic matter, the Club is frustrated that the issue arose at all. The Club will await commenting on this specific matter until it is ruled on by the court, and Chris’s overall future with our team can be determined only after this and other pending matters are resolved by the NFL.”

It all started with the tower of Babel. God got sore because we couldn't get along so he made us all speak in different tongues and sent us to different parts of the world. Apparently he didn't see the whole advanced travel thing coming causing all of to get back together to fuss and fight and act like fools.

  :lmao: So does Porter still deserve to be suspended and Henry not, Bengal fans?
Yes, Porter should be suspended. Yes, Henry is already going to be suspended and this won't help.Btw, the difference with this instance and This is what exactly?

:lmao: EDIT: The difference is that Steelers fans actually think that Cincinnati can't plug in another WR for a few games or the entire season and not miss a beat. Wishful thinking, I guess.
No, the difference is one violates an already very shaky probation and theother does not. Is this really that difficult?

from Rotoworld:

Chris Henry may be go to jail for 88 days in Kentucky because of his Wednesday citation for a suspended license in Cincinnati.Henry was cited for driving with a suspended license and failing to use a turn signal in Cincinnati Wednesday. While a relatively minor offense, his probation for a separate case in Kentucky could be revoked if convicted in April. Henry was expected to be suspended by the NFL for four games before this happened.Source: USAToday.com

Henry

Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry's minor traffiic violations have no impact on his probation status according to one of his agents.

"It's nothing. It was a fine. He thought it was taken care of," Marvin Frazier said Tuesday afternoon. "To me, it seems like there is a witch hunt for Chris Henry. He's been doing everything that he's been asked to do.

"If he's done something that should have put him in jail, I would think he'd be in jail right now," Frazier said.

Henry, who has been arrested four times, was cited for three traffic violations while driving on Vine Street in Cincinnati last Wednesday afternoon: driving with a suspended license and without a seat belt, and failing to signal, and paid $100.

But The Cincinnati Enquirer quoted Chief prosecutor Ken Easterling of the Kenton County Attorney’s Office saying Tuesday that a conviction on those charges would be enough to revoke Henry’s Kenton County probation and send him back to jail to serve the rest of his 90-day sentence.

The newspaper reported that Easterling said if Henry is convicted of any crime in Hamilton County, the Kenton County Attorney’s Office would seek to revoke his probation in Kentucky.

The timing has turned the violations into a furor. The NFL owners are meeting this week to give NFL commissioner Roger Goodell the go-ahead for a harsher player conduct policy, and Henry is set to meet with Goodell next week.

The Bengals released this statement:

“While the incident involved a minor traffic matter, the Club is frustrated that the issue arose at all. The Club will await commenting on this specific matter until it is ruled on by the court, and Chris’s overall future with our team can be determined only after this and other pending matters are resolved by the NFL.”

Don't worry, your boys will be up for parole shortly and you'll be able to kick back some 40's in the flashing limelights of the local cops.

Yeah, a real witch hunt. 'Cause the rest of us commonly drive with a suspended license. Seriously, either Henry is a complete moron, or whoever handles his personal affairs (e.g., agent, business manager, friend, relative) is a moron. I don't care if he drives without a seatbelt, but honestly - would you ever "accidentally" drive with a suspended license? I doubt it.

Evey article I've seen says that the traffic violations may be a probation violation and may land Henry in jail. Has anyone seen anything definite on this?

Sorry for asking for pesky details like that, but..............

I live in Cincinnati. Prior to that, I lived in Washington DC for 18 years. Prior to that, I lived in Cleveland for 5. Anyone who says Cincinnati is more racist that average is an idiot or :penalty: I'm guessing you are :bye:

And there's also a difference between somebody and his 6 buddies assaulting a guy vs. somebody getting pulled over for a traffic violation. -QG

(edited 7 to 6, still doesn't change Porter's status as a punk)

I'm sure it's up to a judge to decide. Until such time they are gonna be "mays".-QG

I've never been to Cincinatti, so I can't comment on it -- but it does have a reputation (whether justly or unjustly) for having bad race relations in recent years.

http://www.npr.org/programs/atc/features/2...cincinnati.html
There was a riot after a cop shot a kid in a dark alley something like 5 years ago. Ever since then, I'll agree that there have been racial tensions in the inner city, mainly directed at the police. But that does that make the whole city racist? Does a couple cops beating Rodney King make all of LA racist?

I can tell you I still feel safer in downtown Cincinnati than I ever did in DC.

Can we end the hijack now?

um...yeah. thats all well and good but that really has nothing to do with your qestion, though. You asked how henry's situation was different from ben's, and i gave you a gigantic difference. sorry if you didn't like that. if changing the subject makes you feel better, by all means knock yourself out.
