Chris Henry Released (1 Viewer)

Just announced on 1530 homer. Mike Brown released the following statement:

"Chris Henry has forfeited his opportunity to pursue a career with the Bengals. His conduct can no longer be tolerated. "The Bengals tried for an extended period of time to support Chris and his potentially bright career. We had hoped to guide him toward an appropriate standard of personal responsibility that this community would support and that would allow him to play in the NFL. We acknowledge those fans who had concerns about Chris; at the same time we tried to help a young man. "But those efforts end today, as we move on with what is best for our team."

cinci had no choice. he was suspended last year and now this.

Who is #3 there? Do they draft a guy now?

With CJ making waves and TJ not showing up for voluntary camps, whats going to happen to the cinci wr corp?

I think Chatman will be taking the #3 role.Lets not overplay the TJ not showing up card. He worked out on his own last year. He isnt making a statement by doing it. Chad on the other hand is a problem.

I am not overplaying, just asking. If CJ wants to win so bad, he should be getting himself and TJ into camps to work with Carson. Thats what a leader would do. Someone who wants to win. What do you think of Glen Holt? Has better size then chatman....

+ eleventy on the bold.

I like Holt. I still think Chatman will be given the first crack at it, but it wouldnt surprise me to see Holt take a good number of reps.

Cowboys should sign him to complete the Pacman/Tank/Henry trifecta.
You beat me to it. Dallas seems to be collecting all the scum in the league. I thought the new penalties could also be levied against the clubs?? If so is Dallas setting themselves up for a let down.

Why does anyone say garbage like "CJ should be a leader if he wants to win". What's with the #85 bashing, wake up call.

Bengals Defense SUCKS.

So what have the Bengals done to improve their defense? They let loose Justin Smith, Madieu(sp) Williams, Landon Johnson. What did they gain? Jack Schitt. The Bengals ain't gonna be a winner even if #85 leads, gives speeches with the enthusiasm of Barack Obama, shows the leadership of FDR, shows the passion of MLK. If #85 was 5x better than Jerry Rice ever was the Bengals ain't gonna win cause the defense stinks. #85 is sick of it, can you blame him?

So under the regime of General Zod, will Henry even need to be tried and found guilty for a years suspension? Or is it simply enough for him to be taken into custody and Daddy can ground him?

If he is found to be innocent of the accusation he would receive no punishment from the NFL. If he did get punished the players association would make sure it was repealed.

I just assumed the thread title meant "Released from Jail".

Guess that says something about my expectations about Henry's behavior.

Id just like him to run the right routes, not drop easy passes, not leave at least once a game for fluids because you are cramping because you eat McD's like its going out of style, not drop game winning touchdowns, not step out of bounds short of a first down on 4th and 14 with the season on the line. If all of those things werent true, I may give a crap about hearing him cry and moan like a little girl on every media outlet in the world. You "just want to win"? Well maybe you should work on not screwing up yourself there, hotshot. That isnt to say that the Bengals need to do a lot more to get the Defense to a respectable level, they do. Until you are without many faults that could have gotten teh team into the playoffs

Don't count him out yet folks. Henry is going to get a lot of work at wide receiver when he's locked up in prison. He should be a much more experienced and relaxed receiver when he's finally released.

We are just 2 weeks removed from this statement.....

Chris Henry-WR - Bengals Mar. 24 - 4:16 pm et

Chris Henry said Monday that he's put all his off-field problems behind him.

Henry, who has a girlfriend and two kids at home now, hasn't been in trouble in nearly a year. "That's all in the past," he said. "I'm just excited and ready to get started again." He'll be a key part of the Bengals' three-receiver sets, but Ben Utecht's addition could cut into Henry's production slightly.

and since that he has had two brushes with the law....yikes. Does Goodell have to go in order here with a year suspention...or can he just banish this kid from the league indefinately?

This moronic, imbecilic idiot has totally screwed up his life. He will end up on the streets, probably dead before he's 40. He could have made millions.

Well, he'll probably be a wider receiver.

this should mean that the Chad Johnson trade rumors will die. Chad has already came out and said he would not miss any training camp. so we are right back where we were last eyar at the beginning of the season with henry out, except now it is for good. This should not shake things up very much for Cincy. They have alreayd dealt with this. CJ is CJ, he will shut up once the season starts and Cincy has plenty of fire power on offense. The draft should be focused on defense for them to be able to compete.

I think the real question is Rudi JOhnson, but that is a whole nother thread.

Some people are just too dumb to be out on the streets. He and Pac-Man are destined to be reviewing the good times at WVU while sharing a cell.

If I'm in prison, I'd rather be a tight end than a wide receiver.

I am not saying i agree with what cinci has done and not saying they are not at fault. I love me the ocho cinco! But if CJ really wants to win he needs to be a leader not the cry crying to the media. Not bashing, just want to see him not contribute to the problem like he has been doing.

I have posted to this message board before concerning my personal stance toward players who have been in trouble multiple times no longer being qualified for my roster, no matter how much talent they have or how 'rehabilitated' they now say they are. I finally made this decision after being burned multiple times by guys like Koren Robinson and Ricky Williams and the Whizzerator dude and, yes, our pal Chris Henry. This stance has already saved me several times from being burned since then in drafts. And, when I've received a trade offer that included Henry (several of them in various leagues since he started playing again mid-season last year), I wouldn't consider them.

Lately, with all the Johnson trade or holdout rumors, Henry's perceived value has risen to some people and I'm sorry for those who have gone out and paid a good price for him. I'm sure lots of folks feel burned right now if they drafted him in 2007 in dynasty leagues or traded for him in the last few months, but PLEASE folks, everyone LEARN from this. These guys who are problems are just not worth the trouble. Black list all the Ricky Williams and Michael Vick and Chris Henry types permanently in your mind, not even including them on your draft boards at any 'value.' Let someone else have them, and take someone without the baggage. You're simply better off. I know I'm glad I made that decision.

Anyone think he'll end up with the Raiders -- maybe for something like $42 million over six years, with $15 million guaranteed?

I somewhat follow the same line of thinking, I did own Vick since I drafted him as a rookie and he went down while still on my team, all of the others I have went with your wisdom. I won't draft TO either, I've never had to even consider him cause he goes really high anyhow. What are your thoughts on Brandon Marshall???

The prison guards are going to be in trouble if they have to face a Vick/Henry led team.

As for Henry, I figured this would happen sooner than later. I traded him last year 1 week after acquiring him.

Chatman isn't that good, he's more a of a WR4/return guy type. Holt has good size, but terrible hands. I didn't watch many Bengals games last season but in the one's I saw Holt is a body catcher and dropped pretty much anything that came in hot.

Question: What does this do to Palmer's value? We saw how he did with "only" 2 good WR's. I have to think losing Henry knocks Palmer below Ben, Brees and Romo if he wasn't already.

That Utecht signing might be a little more important if the Bengals play less 3-wide now.

I probably shouldn't say this here since I'm in an initial dynasty draft in about a month with 23 other guys from this board, but I don't own Marshall in any leagues, if I did I'd be trading him away, and when I have the chance to take him next month I'll be taking someone else instead. He's being ranked VERY high in dynasty rankings right now and would be a very expensive dynasty mistake if he flakes out. I'll let someone else take him as the 10th or so WR off the board. There are other good choices available without the baggage or risk. Whether he's been suspended for anything yet is not the point. He's been around trouble too much already, has his coach and QB already getting sick of him, and at some point NFL teams begin to say "we can't allow ourselves to depend on this guy." I don't want to be the FF owner investing a high pick in him when that happens. I'll take someone else.

Good stuff and I'm in agreement with you on Marshall, I'm going to avoid which shouldn't be too hard cause he'll go high. What's your thoughts on McFadden? I acquired the 1.1 rookie pick and am really leaning towards him right now. We've heard about the red flags on him but I think with him after seeing exactly what the red flags were about I"m going to pick him with confidence... Mistake?

To answer your question specifically, no, I don't think he's the same kind of risk as guys are who are in the pros, doing stupid stuff and getting into legal trouble several years into their careers. I'm willing to give a pass to most of what goes on with 18-20 year old college guys.Regardless of your personal stance on him, though, when you own the 1.1 rookie pick you have no real choice but to get 1.1 value. That means take him or trade down or trade for a vet. You can't pick another guy at 1.1 and leave the perceived value of the top rookie on the board for the next guy. If an owner of the 1.1 pick views him in the same light as I view Marshall, there would be no problem finding post-draft trade partners soon after the draft. I don't advocate people being stupid with value, I just advocate (as in the Marshall example) owning comparable value without the maturity risk.

:kicksrock:And :excited: to the dude that said he'll end up on the Crimeboys and continue their tradition of outstanding citizens.I think this move has to give Holt a big bump in value. IMO he looked pretty good last year, much better than Chatman. Chatman really hasn't shown much since his rookie year.

Another one to watch is Marcus Maxwell... Palmer :wub:s him.

He looks like a girl , he'll probably be worth at least two packs of cigarettes.
