Chris Johnson 2012 (1 Viewer)

This guy is pure feast or famine and right now he is an ethiopian with flies buzzing around his head.
how large do your balls need to be to cut him outright at this point.you know, to make a statement in your league and to rid the cancer from your roster
Every other player on CJsuck led teams already hates the fact that he is starting and costing them wins.

That was before the end of the game, see my posts that followed

He shall now be known as CJ4.

Not that it changes anyones perception but there was penetration behind the line on almost every carry...they totally sold out to make Locker beat them. Look at the tape...if you care.

Interesting. I believe FBG had Tennessee ranked as the #1 oline in the preseason.

Their oline is horrible but you can't blame his production on that. He'll have some big games because there will be some holes to run through eventually but you have to expect more games like this. 1st big game he has trade him for anything.

Yep that concerns me too....that and their head coach is a former pro bowl lineman
other sources did as well. maybe cj4 is just THAT bad.we will have a better idea once harper/ringer start to get carries and we can compare.

4 yards rushing is ridiculous. I was the 8 spot in two leagues and almost pulled the trigger on him twice believing that he'll be better but my gut told me no. Drafted Andre Johnson in 1 over him and Julio Jones in another (ppr), both look like closewins this week but if I would have drafted him I would have lost both games.

To clarify...CJ.4YPCI like to think that I'm an optimist though...the glass is half full.He still has 15 games to become CJ2YPC.

i inherited him on a team i picked up this summer. i thought it was surprising that the best offer i received was a 3rd string rb. not even i thought he was that bad but perhaps i need to reevaluate.

I would never take a chance on this guy in a non ppr....

but in ppr he can still put up startable numbers even when he's not getting it done on the ground.

Lot of hate here. Again I felt he never even had a chance once he got the ball in the backfield. Listened to Phil Simms who was on CBS fantasy football today and covered the Patriots/Titans game. Phil thought it was as dominant a performance by a defensive line as he's seen (against a decent o-line) and that even before the game he thought the Patriots might have the best run defense in the NFL. I will wait to see how he does next week as well as the Patriots next opponent or 2 before announcing last rites.

Good post. At the end of the day they played the Pats who had this game circled all offseason. Belichick gameplans better than anyone in the NFL and he took out their #1 weapon. I certainly don't love the stat line but there's a lot of games to be played. I think I'll test the waters to see how panicky CJ owners are after 1 game vs probably the best team in the league.

I would agree with all this were it not for the fact that it's the same line of thinking that patient owners conveyed in his threads last year. The argument every week seemed to be "he has nowhere to run".I don't own him this year but did last year and I'm getting that deja vu feeling reading this. I think this is less about "why or why not?" and more about "it is what it is".

And it very well may be. Unfortunately unless your are blown away with an offer it makes sense to wait and see.

The minute he has one of "those games" I will trade him for anything, worst first round pick ever. What was I thinking?
everyone in the world had him ranked in the top 8 RB's... it's ok.. we all fell for it.it's tough... what can a mere mortal do when all the experts have it wrong...
I agree, everybody had him rated high. But I knew going into the draft I wasn't taking him in the first 2 rounds. If he fell further, then based on potential I would have to take him. It's just one of those players where the payoff can be huge, but I don't want to deal with the headache if he plays like last year. And 11 for 4, looked awful.

in my .5 ppr league CJ got 7 points...some others...

L Fitz - 8

J. Charles - 8

Lynch - 10

Nicks - 5

J. Nelson - 10.5

Sjax - 10

Cruz - 8

Who's this 'everyone'I didn't fall for it
I personally had him listed as the most overrated player in the first few rounds this year, but almost every ranking I saw had him top 5 RB. Of course not "everyone" had him ranked there, but pretty close to "everyone".That said, he's going to have to have many more weeks like yesterday to be classified as a bust. One week does not make a trend...

The receiving saved him.I "fell" for it - again, I drafted him last year and traded him later. But: Going back to the post top 5 picks (say the top 3 RBs or a top-QB or Calvin) it's still up in the air who is a better pick, starting primary (non committee) RBs are not numerous no matter what.

Honestly, he looked slow yesterday. His O-line didn't make the greatest of holes, but he certainly didn't take advantage of any opportunities. All around pathetic performance, really.

I have always felt that he was overrated after his big year because most of his yards that year were on big runs where no one touched him. He is a great back when he has a huge hole, and he can take it to the house. But if the Defense is not giving much, then he can have a lot of these games because he can't make his own yards. I suspect he is actually a buy low though because he WILL have some big games. But it is hard to trust a RB who is so inconsistent.

Was just offered him for CJ Spiller in a "CJ for CJ trade". Interestingly enough I already own Calvin Johnson. Trying to see if I can trade something else for CJ.4YPC and have all 3 CJ's on my roster.

I can't argue with that. I'm a CJ owner and started him yesterday. I won my game, but it wasn't due to him that's for sure. Thankfully it's a PPR league so his catches and yards made up for what he douldn't get done on the ground game. I'm not too concerned yet as the tape shows some piss poor O line play along with CJ's lackluster start. We'll see how next week goes I suppose....

This is what CJ owners keep posting week after week after week in threads last year...whether it's him, the offensive line, or the QB play, there was always some excuse. Bottom line is, whatever the reason, he doesn't consistently produce fantasy points any longer and kills a team as its RB1. Anyone that has him as a RB1 is in deep trouble this year.

Looooool looks like he's out of shape again!!
Your 3 posts on this thread have been completely worthless. Way to be contributing factor in the deterioration of this forum.Anyway, back on topic:I'm on shaky ground with CJ4, but his day was somewhat salvaged in PPRs by his ability to at least catch passes out of the backfield. I fed into the preseason hype (better line, no lockout, Locker looking solid, etc) I do believe he'll bounce back next week, but I think it'll be awhile before we see a 100+ yard rushing performance.

CJ3 needs a legit WR or a passing game to stretch the opponents' defense a bit. It's way too early to tell if CJ3 is going to disappoint, I'm giving him 4 games before making that call.

what happens after 4 games when he has 2 showings for 30+ pts and 2 for ~5?

And why do you think this? Sounds like everyone has been saying this exact phrase for a year now and just your standard optimistic speech. We got burned on a first round pick. It sucks but what can you do.

I remember seeing things like this said last year, as I watched CJ ruin my season week after week.Gladly went with DMC in the 8 hole and watched CJNOK go at #11. Good ridance.

great post. I wish people qould quit making excuses for him. He has gotten paid and he is not willing to stick it inside and get the tough yards. He's not the only back with a bad Oline. It amazes me how many excuses is made for a guy just because he ran for 2000 three years ago.

the guy needs carries

look at his stats from last year: he had more than 15 carries 5 times and 4 times had a very good statistical game. he never rushed for more than 64 yards when he had 15 carries or less.

pretty much the same thing in 2010.

you get carries when you sustain offense. If you can rip off 4, 5, and 6 yard carries then your team is likely to get more first downs, and thus your amount of carries increases. If you are putting your team in 3rd and long situations every time, then you are part of the reason why you aren't getting more carries.
