Chris Johnson/Javon Ringer Discussion Thread (1 Viewer)

I saw that there is a Felix Jones/Demarco Murray thread, so I thought this one might be of value to some of us as well. Just looking at the game footage and stats, it is clear that CJ has been abysmal while Ringer has progressively looked better each week. For some dumb reason, I keep starting CJ because I don't want to miss his "big game." In two of my leagues, I have both guys...and I am guessing that some of you do as well. While the situation may or may not work itself out, this week looks like a complete cluster and I have no idea what to expect out of either of them in a tough matchup versus Cincinnati. Munchak insists CJ is the guy and he's not looking to balance out the carries...yet last week, Ringer wound up with more touches. What are you guys thinking? Are either of them worth starting at this point? Do any Tennessee fans have any insight on whether a CJ benching is inevitable?

you should have other options (I hope) even on the WW. I think both players split up scraps this week.

Hard to see CJ turning it around THIS week - if you keep waiting for that "big week" you might be waiting all season.

That's what I fear...full blown RBBC, although Ringer's good stat line last week almost gave hope that CJ might get benched. It doesn't appear that either with emerge as starter material this season. It sucks wasting two roster spots on guys you have no confidence in playing, and yet I can't get myself to drop either of them.

The problem I'm feeling is that if cj gets it right, ringer gets five touches all game. Not hard to see that happening.

:goodposting: Exactly. And until they say that CJ is absolutely benched and Ringer is starting, there is that potential. For now, Ringer is the backup...

Cj has 2.8 ypc average, 107 touches

ringer has a 3.5 ypc average, much smaller sample size in 35 touches.

They have had some tough matchups, balt, pitts, heck even jax and houston have shown to be a solid front 7, but denver, clev and indy aren't world beaters.

Is it just cj or the offensive line as well? Both have subpar ypc, and this is a team with a former o lineman as the head coach.

Neither are worth anything at this point. The oline and the new blocking scheme just isnt getting it done. Ringer is more of a power runner and does a little better getting hit in the backfield, but even though he got plenty of carries last week he still didn't do much, especially considering it was against the worst run D in the league.

Tennessee had a tougher than average schedule vs the run, as BAL, DEN, and JAX have been really good vs the run this year, but the rest of the teams they faced are average, or the worst in IND's case. Schedule isn't enough to blame for how terrible TEN has been running this year. It is probably a combo or CJ and OL getting worse and that CJ was probably getting really lucky in previous seasons. Because most of his yardage came from sporadic huge plays, luck probably played a much bigger factor in how well he did vs others.

I've been reading the other CJ thread...seems like the overwhelming consensus is that he is worthless this year.
