The lengths we will go through to save face. When the smoke clears, all I want is a guy I can plug into my lineup and get points with. He doesn't have to look like Adrian Peterson doing it or be assured the job for the next 10 years. RBs come and go in this league. I am trying to win now and Randle gives you a chance to do that so long as he is healthy. If it makes you feel all warm, fuzzy, and smart then hold Michael. Just stop acting like he is the heir apparent to greatness because up to this point Mr. Harmon, his carries look like this: bench, bench, gatorade, restroom, bench, bench, hot dog vendor, restroom, bench, bench, cheerleader, bench, bench, home.

I lol'd right there... Couldn't help but think maybe even that cheerleader was a 4th stringer and weighed 3 bills...In all seriousness though I'm a bit torn as a dynasty owner of both Randle and Michael... Randle in all honesty reminds me of someone like Jerious Norwood... Flashed behind the incumbent starter and then when he finally kinda had a shot things just didn't really work out like he'd hoped... Most of his issue was getting dinged because he had wr type legs and not built much like an RB... He floated some value for a while but it was like the falcons weren't really willing to commit fully to him being a staple... I feel like that with Randle... It remains to be seen if he can hold up and his effectiveness, short of early yesterday, doesn't instill the same type of confidence that he can be more than a long term change of pace Dunbar type.

I feel like last yr when they had Murray running wild and both Randle and Ryan Williams were looking solid in the preseason and knowing what Dunbar could bring they felt pretty good... Plans for having Randle and a "healthy" Ryan Williams be the 1-2 bangers and complementing with Dunbar behind this line probably seemed like a good plan heading into 2015 without Murray... especially when they bring in McFadden on the cheap as Williams insurance and maybe thinking of drafting a mid to late Rd RB if one fell to them...

But things happen, Williams knees never really recovered and McFadden kinda is what he is and Randle spent most of camp and preseason being dinged up next to Dunbar... You get an opportunity to take a cheap shot on someone like Michael who profiles kinda like Ryan Williams (IMO) then you take that shot... If Randle can carry the mail and McFadden stays healthy and Dunbar does what he does then Michael is just a "Ryan Williams" circa 2014 plan rewashed... I believe Michael will get a chance to compete NEXT yr for starting spot... Value this yr (barring injury) is very limited at least before the bye... Of course maybe he gets a shot in weeks 16 & 17 regardless of health with other backs if Dallas is out of playoff picture

In redraft I'm cutting bait for the likes of Karlos Williams or a WR like Davante Parker or Marvin Jones (if available)

In dynasty I'm holding Michael and looking to trade Randle off of this Week's performance

I ought Randle looked pretty electric on a few of those runs. Atl just created penetration into the backfield a ton later in the game.

I'm surprised that wasn't the Atl game plan from the beginning of the game. But I would expect that to be the game plan for the Cowboys' opponents going forward. As a Randle owner, I'm not so confident he can produce in the current offense if other teams make the appropriate adjustments. That said, I don't know that Michael would do any better in the same circumstances either.

Dallas is trying to do a time of possession offense. They want to burn as much clock as possible. The long runs are good but you take those away and you can easily see he's not a grinder. Dallas needs a grinder for their offense. Randle would be a perfect cop back to break off those long runs after Michael tires them out. Logically they should want to play the back that gets them consistent yardage to keep getting first downs.

But the Cowboys could not control the ball in the second half and an easy victory slipped away. The Cowboys managed only three first downs and 54 yards in the second half -- and one of the first downs came on a roughing the passer penalty. And 24 of the yards came on the final desperation drive when the Cowboys were down by two scores. That offensive effort those final 30 minutes was pathetic. Poor coaching, poor playing, poor execution.

- It's nuts, Randle absolutely tore it up. Then the falcs keyed on doing everything to stop him and shocker the Cowboys could not win with Weeden, so the falcs had total confidence they would and could come back on them.

- eta - Let's also remember that Weeden has Williams, Beasley, Street and Butler at wideout. He's not working with a lot either if he wants to do something besides check it down.

Yeah I'm not sure it's on Randle. The Falcons stacked the box and dared Weeden to beat them. He couldn't, so it made the run game useless.

 
Michael is going to be inactive another week, they're not going to punish Randle, McFadden and Dunbar for having had great games or breakdowns that weren't their fault by reducing their snaps.

If you take away Adrian Peterson's runs on Sunday of 21, 43 and 11..you are left with 2, 2, 5, 5, 2, -1, -2, 6, 1, 1, 3, 2, 4, 2, 4, 10, 1 and 5 yards....a significant dropoff in yards equates to 18-50 and only 2.7 ypc...not what you want from your lead back.

Similarly, if you take Jamal Charles's 13, 10 and 9 yard runs you're left with ...2, 0, -3, 2, 3, 2, 4 and 7 (2.12 ypc)...also not what you want from your lead back.

I think you are right. Dallas is staring at a three game skid into the week 6 bye if they put up a stinker against New Orleans on national TV week sunday night week 4. NE is week 5 might as well mark that down as a loss right now. If Dallas stays status quo into week 6 there will be a lot of grumbling about not making any changes.

So you think Dallas will fake an injury to a player who came off one of his best games as a pro over the last two years, averaging 5.8 ypc, to give some long shot a chance to maybe do better? Ok crazy

Ikr? And I'm someone who was hoping Seattle wouldn't resign lynch and cm would be the bell cow. When that ship sailed I heard the message loud and clear.

At this point, I kind of hope he is activated and plays so that we can finally end the ridiculous predictions once he falls on his face and doesn't remember what hole to run to.

I didn't check on Peterson and Charles, but I assume their good runs were sprinkled throughout the course of the game.

With Randle, it's not just tossing out the *best* three runs. It's tossing out the *first* three runs. What transpired after Atlanta changed their defensive focus should be very alarming. Dallas was completely shut down, both the running game and the passing game.

That should worry Randle owners.

 
Yes Fisher could very well be selling copy for those Boys fans who are stark raving mad hoping for a savior. Look at the comments under those stories, Boys fans want to see Michael, hear that they will see him. But it's up to the coaches.

My cousin empties the trash at Cowboy HQ; he overheard Jerry Jones on phone with his cousin telling him that he intends to make a point of emphasis in upcoming meeting with Jason Ga.rrett that they need to get Michael on field ASAP. Evidently the cousin has Michael on his fantasy team and has some off week issues.

I'm not saying that you should take away his first three runs. So everyone trying to jump on that can stop.I'm relaying the fact that his first three touches were his best ones. He did not get better as the game wore on. You can say the defense keyed in on him but the fact remains that he became significantly less effective. He didn't even see the field in the fourth quarter. The game script was ideal for him as they jumped out to an early lead. This is when you should be able to lean on your running game. This should be concerning for randle owners and I believe can open help open the door for Michael.

But didn't Dallas lose that lead, hence why they moved away from the run and had to pass more in the 2nd half?

 
Haven't checked in for a while... Guy is at the very end of my bench. When bye weeks start coming into play, this guy will be a free agent in my league.

 
The final box score made it look like the Cowboys had their way with Atlanta on the ground, but 67% of their team rushing yards came in the first 4 minutes of the game. For Randle, that number was 98%.

Not being able to run the ball effectively for most of the game is one of the big reasons why they lost. It seems unlikely the Cowboys are pleased with how things played out.

How much of that dissatisfaction is directed specifically at Randle is anyone's guess, but I doubt the Cowboys feel that they are satisfied with maintaining the status quo when it comes to the current overall state of their running game. One way or another, it needs to get better if they are going to win without Romo and Bryant.

Hold on a sec, I'm looking at the PBP and I see:

Series - 28, 37 TD

Series - 20, 1, [9 yard reception], -1, 1 TD

Whole Series by DMC (TD)

[HERE DAL is up 21-7 -> Then we get a pick by Weeden on the first play - which Atl then converts, 21-14 very quickly, this is a major turning event]

Series - [9yard reception], 4, 1, 0 [this was a 3rd&1]

Series [no carries by Randle until at the GL] 1 [TD]

[At half it's DAL 28-17]

Series - [2 penalties = 15 yards, leads to 2nd & 26, 1 carry for Randle on 1st & 15] -1

[Atl scores - 28-25 DAL]

Series - Three carries by Randle: -4 [on 1st down], 2 [on 1st down], -2 [on 1st down] [Dallas punts after two incompletions by Weeden]

3:10 left in the 3rd quarter, that is the last carry Randle gets. Next drive Atl takes the lead. Randle does not reappear, Dal has 2 more drives, one with McFadden, one with Randle.

When they had the lead they ran Randle, when they were behind they went to McFadden and Dunbar on the two late remaining drives when behind.Those drives had all of 1 carry, on the first play of the two drives by McFadden.

 
This is why they call it fantasy! You try telling your six year old Santa Claus isn't real. You know, it is better to just let them believe what they believe. In time they find out on their own. So yeah, Christine Michael is coming next week and he is going to become the bell cow Dallas has been searching for!

Take away Joseph Randle's first three runs, his touchdowns, his offensive line, his legs, his arms, his eyes, his brain, and his bones, and you will agree that he is JAG.

I've already conceded to Randle keeping the job ... not because he is a good RB but because he does have big play ability which give novice football fans and coaches boners.

But the reality when you look at these #'s, Randle is mostly getting 1 yard or less. Not a chain mover and not the type of running back that most coaches want. Keep in mind this is the best Oline in the NFL he is doing this behind

Randle

Negative yardage on 29%

0 yards or less on 36%

1 yard or less on 64%

AP

Negative yardage on 9.5%

0 yards or less on 9.5%

1 yard or less on 24%

Charles

Negative yardage on 9%

0 yards or less on 18%

1 yard or less on 18%

 
I'm officially dropping CMike in both my leagues. Randle just cemented the job. If he or DMC gets injured, I'll try to pick him back up.

But what's really convincing me to drop CMike is that I didn't realize Dallas actually has incentive to NOT play him if they're not in dire straits: if CMike doesn't get game action in at least 3 games this year, the 'Boys get to keep that 7th round pick. They don't even WANT to play the sucker.

 
It's worthwhile to discuss the merits of Randle's running ability. I do feel that this past week makes Randle a sell high. That does not mean that Dallas will go away from him or from McFadden for that matter. It wouldn't surprise for this to be the week the old DMC pokes his head out to blow up and spin everyone like a top to disappear into obscurity again.

The good thing about this thinking is that you can be certain he will be there if you come back for him. It should take him about 7 weeks to learn the first three pages of the offense so you have time!!! Sometimes it takes other owners showing no interest in a player before we realize we are the ones overvaluing the situation.

Drop Joseph Randle = everyone places a bid on him

Drop Chrstine Michael = no one cares

It should take him about 7 weeks to learn the first three pages of the offense so you have time!!! Sometimes it takes other owners showing no interest in a player before we realize we are the ones overvaluing the situation.

If you take away Adrian Peterson's runs on Sunday of 21, 43 and 11..you are left with 2, 2, 5, 5, 2, -1, -2, 6, 1, 1, 3, 2, 4, 2, 4, 10, 1 and 5 yards....a significant dropoff in yards equates to 18-50 and only 2.7 ypc...not what you want from your lead back.

Similarly, if you take Jamal Charles's 13, 10 and 9 yard runs you're left with ...2, 0, -3, 2, 3, 2, 4 and 7 (2.12 ypc)...also not what you want from your lead back.

I've already conceded to Randle keeping the job ... not because he is a good RB but because he does have big play ability which give novice football fans and coaches boners.

But the reality when you look at these #'s, Randle is mostly getting 1 yard or less. Not a chain mover and not the type of running back that most coaches want. Keep in mind this is the best Oline in the NFL he is doing this behind
