If cut, I'd be surprised if he doesn't get scooped up somewhere. Let's just hope somewhere he has a shot. I'd rather take a chance on CMike over Monte if he's also dropped.

When you can't beat out old man Fred, despite supposedly having a ton of talent, you know that something is wrong.

I feel bad for all the dynasty owners that wasted a spot for this guy for the last three years...

As one of those dynasty owners don't feel bad for me. It's just fantasy football dude.

I hope he gets traded, but it may be Turbin who gets the axe. If you think about what Jackson will bring to the team (reliability + a presence in the passing game), there's more overlap with Turbin than with Michael. And given that Turbin is both injured and on the last year of his deal (IIRC), they may see no reason to keep him around when they can go out and replace him with Jackson.

It's also possible that they keep both. In either scenario they'd probably want to reserve a roster spot for one of Michael or Rawls to cover themselves in the "backup with long term potential category." Rawls looks promising and if they cut him then I think someone else might grab him off waivers, but despite the peanut gallery's narratives it's unclear as to whether or not he's pushing Michael. Carroll didn't make it sound that way just a little over a week ago:

http://www.seattletimes.com/sports/seahawks/pete-carroll-says-seahawks-rb-christine-michael-doing-a-nice-job-despite-preseason-numbers/

In fact, to hear Carroll tell it, the idea that Michael is battling free agents Thomas Rawls and Rod Smith for a roster spot — a popular media, talk show and social media discussion topic — might be off base.

Asked Monday if Rawls and Smith were pushing Michael, Carroll said: “Well, they’re just kind of trying to make it, they’re just trying to hang right now. I don’t know if they are pushing anybody but themselves right now.’’

Wow, only out for about five weeks and they waived him for a one-year fix in FJax? This doesn't mean they think Michael is Lynch's successor, but it shows they didn't value Turbin THAT much.

Wait this is the one that no team ever takes from another team... except the one time by the Patriots.

So they will reclaim him?
Colts just did it to the Redskins about a month ago as well, with a late round pick from this year.

But yeah, Turbin will most likely revert to IR.

That will have to be full season IR tho right?

They cant waive him then designate him to return can they?

Christine Michael - RB - Seahawks

Christine Michael rushed eight times for 39 yards in Thursday's preseason finale.

With Marshawn Lynch and Robert Turbin (ankle) sitting, Michael got the start, taking a handoff from Russell Wilson on the first play of the game. He ran well ahead of UDFA Thomas Rawls, and is clearly locked in as Seattle's No. 3 runner. The talented but inconsistent third-year back closes the book on the exhibition season with 32 carries for 118 yards (3.68 YPC). With Turbin highly questionable for the opener, Michael could get a golden opportunity to make an impression as Lynch's backup.

Yes clearly, Rotoworld. Clearly.

So now the reports that they are actively looking to trade this great hope? Where might he end up? RB needy teams such as Cleveland, Atlanta (perhaps), Dallas, and Arizona (despite the CJ0K signing). Any of these potential landing spots intriguing enough to warrant taking a stab at him? I could see dropping your kicker to pick him up for now, wait out the next week or so and see what happens. What's to lose?

I miss the days when Michael actually had fantasy value . . .
me too.

traded him for a 1st in one league last year (ended up getting parker) but held in another. now i cant trade the guy for a whore with aids.

EBF this isn't really good news for us Michael fans. He's still 3rd on the depth chart. He's droppable now almost. They have no faith in him.
Kind of confused by this myself... So Seattle cutting the guy that kept Michael on the bench the last two years due to an injury and signing a 34- year old to take that guy's role is a positive for Michael?

:goodposting:

Is he even ahead of Rawls?

A fresh start on a good team, in familiar surroundings (Texas) might be just what he needs. If Michael signs with Dallas, and they hand him the keys behind that line, we just may see what the years of hype have been about.

No one is handing him any keys by choice. He'll crash the bus.

Dallas is the only place he could go that would make me consider him. That line plus the thoroughly mediocre RB competition might make him a good lottery ticket.

My thoughts precisely. Definitely worth dropping your least valuable fantasy asset for that lottery ticket.

I wouldn't anticipate Dallas all of a sudden forgetting about Randle, Jerry Jones' favorite DMC, and Dunbar. It would still be an ugly committee.

Weaker competition in Cleveland, in my opinion.

I think wherever he ends up, he'll still be in a RBBC, and that's his ceiling. I don't think any of us expects him to turn into a top 10 bellcow RB. But he may still be better than the RB5 or handcuff sitting on your bench.

I dropped my kicker for him. Not much loss there. Going to be hard for Seattle to get much in return for him if teams know that he is going to be cut. I'm guessing Michael will be added and dropped a lot this weekend.

Where did I say it's a positive? I must have missed that post.

I think it would've been better if the coaches had trusted Michael enough to handle the RB2 job on his own. You can see the talent with him, but there's definitely a lack of trust in certain areas (which we also saw in his last year at A&M). I get the impression of him as an unpredictable child who needs a babysitter around at all times. Like he needs to be paired with a less talented back who can do all of the little things that he struggles with. FWIW though, I never felt that Turbin was the "real" backup to Lynch in the sense of being the one who would get most of the carries if Lynch were out. I think the "backup" role in this case just means a reliable third down back/pass blocker to keep Wilson upright. They don't need flashy plays out of that role since Lynch provides 95% of those in his starting role.

At the same time, if you did buy the "Turbin is the backup" idea then realize that the new "backup" is 34 years old and highly unlikely to play much longer. Doesn't mean they will hand Michael the keys to the car when Lynch/Fred break down, but now there's no longer another young back "ahead" of him (as I said, the extent to which Turbin was really ahead of him for the replacement RB1 job has always been suspect IMO).

I dropped Duke Johnson for him. I know some will scoff, but I see DJ's upside as a good 3rd down back and part of a committee on a bad offense, with Crow getting goal line work. Plus he's already been hurt twice. Just doesn't excite me.

If Christine Michael ends up in Dallas, in time I could see him being a fantasy RB1. Worth the low risk gamble. Can't win the lottery if you don't play.

Wow, really poor decision I think. D Johnson has a solid future. C Michael, you're throwing a dart, blindfolded.

Not that it will surprise anyone, but I'd still take Michael > Duke. I think he is a lot more talented.

Really not a fan of Duke Johnson, so to me you got the better player.

I'm in. Dropped Dorial Green-Beckham and picked up Michael.

You could be right, but I doubt it. I just don't see great fantasy upside with Duke. Probably end up being a good third down back, or part of a committee on a bad team. Even if Michael doesn't pan out, I doubt I'll ever regret letting Duke Johnson go.

Once he clears waivers, the team can either put him on IR, or the team can negotiate an injury settlement and let him go play somewhere.

Waived/Injured: When a team waives an injured player any other team may claim him. If a player clears waivers the player is immediately reverted to IR or the team will negotiate an injury settlement to allow the player to pursue other opportunities with another club.

Injury settlement: Instead of putting the waived/injured player on the IR for the rest of the season a team will negotiate an injury settlement if the player has a chance of returning from the injury in that season. Once a settlement is reached that player is released and free to pursue another team. The amount of the settlement is based upon the number of weeks the player is “estimated” to be unable to play. This comes in the form of a team doctor’s opinion and a second opinion doctor of the player. For example if a player is estimated by the team doctor to be out 5 weeks but the second opinion doctor believes it could take up to 8 weeks, the agent will seek to have the player paid for as close to the 8 weeks as possible, 8/17th’s of his total year’s salary.
